1 Fall 2016 Program Guide Fitness & Recreation GROUPx at the J The J offers a variety of group exercise classes. Schedules are available online at or in paper format at the J. Barre Fusion - Combines balance, agility, resistance, working recovery and eloquence. Bars - Sculpt, tone, and strengthen your entire body with low weight and high reps. Chair Yoga - A comfortable and accessible yoga class for beginners and the independently mobile. Circuit - A series of stations of exercises to build strength and muscular endurance. Core and More - A combination of pilates for the core and upper body and leg work using dumbbells. Cycling - Cardio workout on indoor bikes. Cycle Fusion minutes of cycling, followed by strength, core and stretch. Fitness Ball Strength training and stretching while integrating the physio ball. Kickboxing - Combine cardio, boxing, and martial arts. Pilates - Strengthen and tone with this low/no impact workout. Pilates Fusion - A fusion of pilates, yoga, and barre that combines strength, toning, and flexibility. Fitness Yoga - Yoga that combines strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility. Silver Sneakers Classic - Designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and daily living activities. Tabata Tone - Multiple tabatas make this a quick effective total body workout. Tai Chi / QiGong - A series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Total Body Toning - A Bootcamp style class that combines circuits for different muscle groups using varied reps and intervals. HIIT - Interval training that delivers a drenching workout and post metabolic boost. Yoga - Spiritual discipline including breath control, simple meditation, and postures. Not a member, but want to try a GROUPx class? Purchase a Class Pass for $15 at the JCC Welcome Desk for that day s class. Youth Fitness Youth Strength & Conditioning Training (11-16 years) There s no better time than adolescence to begin a good strength and conditioning training program. Take the first step towards athletic success and a well-balanced lifestyle. Thursdays (9/8-11/10), 5:00pm - 6:00pm Youth Recreation Flag Football (7-12 years) In this intro class, you will learn the basic fundamentals of football such as catching, throwing, running, and defense. The session will end with games. Session 1: Mondays (9/12-10/24) no class on 10/3, 10/17, 10/24 Price: $48 JCC MVP: $40 Session 2: Mondays (10/31-12/19) Price: $140 JCC MVP: $128 JHoops Skills & Drills Basketball Clinic Join Coach T and friends as we learn the correct fundamentals of basketball which will help with skill development, positive attitude and sportsmanship through drills and games. Tuesdays (9/6-11/8), 5:00pm - 6:00pm (No class 10/4 and 10/11)

3 Fall 2016 Program Guide Fitness and Recreation Junior Squash (6-15 years) Our popular Jr. Squash program, led by head instructor Eric Boyer and his team, will provide training and play for participants with each session focusing on critical elements of the game. Participants will also scrimmage against regional squash teams. Travel scrimmage schedule will be available in October. Adult leagues, clinics, round robins will also be available at the J. Session 1: Wednesdays (9/7-10/26; No class 10/12) Price: $122 JCC MVP: $112 Session 2: Wednesdays (11/2-12/21) Price: $140 JCC MVP: $128 Pickleball (7-12 years) The craze that is sweeping the nation is coming to the J! Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. No prior experience is necessary. We supply paddles and balls. Session 1: Thursdays (9/8-10/27) Session 2: Mondays (11/3-12/22; No games 11/24) Night of Champions (Formerly SNL) Got Game? Come join Coach T and the rec staff for a fun night and catch the Maccabi Games fever. Come drop off your child for a fun-filled night centered around sports! From basketball to Ga-Ga to Squash to water polo, it will be a great night to come show us you re the MVP! Fit U premium classes are perfect for people who want customized workouts in a small group setting of ten or fewer people. Classes may included wellness based programs, functional fitness and strength, and yoga workshops. See F.I.T. description for the first of these classes. F.I.T. (Functional Interval Training) Need personal attention and the support of a few friends? A small group is the perfect F.I.T.! This is a high intensity class that improves strength, power, stability, endurance, and flexibility. Come join students from Muhlenberg, Lehigh, Lafayette, and surrounding areas to see who will come out on top and be crowned the champion. Saturday, 9/17, 7:00pm - 11:00pm Price: $176/team JCC MVP: $160/team Wellness Events 3-on-3 Adult Basketball Tournament (18 years and up) Grab your friends and team up for the 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a fun and low pressure way to show off your skills. 5 Jewish-Focused Aging Mastery Program (J-AMP) J-AMP is a 12-week program designed to support baby boomers and older adults in making the most of their gift of longevity. J-AMP combines goal-setting, daily practices, and peer support to help participants make meaningful changes in their lives. The program includes expert speakers, group discussion and various levels of mastery aimed at improving the aging process. The series includes two sessions that connect Jewish spirituality and wisdom with actions proven to improve health and well-being. The series curriculum consists of 12 sessions.
