8 About IBM-Plant Location International Plant Location International (PLI) is a global service of IBM Global Business Services Strategy & Transformation practice, specialized in corporate location and economic development strategies. Operating as a fully globally integrated service - with a global center of excellence in Brussels, Belgium, supported by satellite teams in key markets IBM-PLI provides expert advice to corporate clients for analyzing international business locations for expanding or consolidating companies to select the optimal location (country/city). IBM-PLI provides these services across all industries and geographies, and for all business functions (e.g. manufacturing, headquarters, R&D, shared services, data centers) IBM-PLI is independent from government authorities or other organizations with local interests and fully objective and unbiased in its advice; no conflicts with real estate, tax, incentives or other interest. The Global Investment Locations Database (GILD) is the leading corporate investment tracking database, registering 'mobile' investment projects around the world and allowing representative and up-to-date location trend analysis on a global scale. Being the most comprehensive and accurate global investment database in the market, GILD provides unrivalled insight into global trends in corporate location decision making. Global Location Trends reports are prepared based on analysis of data from IBM's proprietary Global Investment Locations Database (GILD). These reports present and analyze the latest trends in corporate location selection around the world, and are the most realistic and up-to-date reflection of expansion and relocation behavior of companies, as well as the degree in which countries and regions around the world are successful in attracting new business. Based on the extensive experience working directly with investors, IBM-PLI consultants offer unique expertise to economic development organizations (EDO) and investment promotion agencies (IPA).
