6 GRAMMAR (pages: , 204) VERB GUSTAR Me gusta el fútbol. Me gustan los deportes de equipo. I like football. I like team sports. Gusta or gustan? Fill in the sentences according to the sentences above. Justify your answer. In Spanish this is expressed by saying that something pleases you. The verbs encantar I love and interesar to interest are used the same way as gustar. Me encanta esquiar. Me interesa la historia de Valencia. I love skiing. I m interested in Valencia s history. THE PREPOSITIONAL FORMS OF THE PERSONAL PRONOUNS When you want to clarify or emphasize who likes something, the a preposition and the prepositional form of the personal pronoun is used. A mí me gusta jugar al fútbol con mis amigos. A Sofía le gusta jugar al dominó con su abuela. I like to play football with my friends. Sofía likes to play dominoes with her grandmother. The prepositional form of the personal pronoun is also used with other prepositions, not only with a. Para mí, un café. For me, a coffee.
