Deployment of intermodal terminals : Freight Village A short first mile / last mile is essential in order to be able to meet the benchmark «road», A multifunctional terminal, including cranes for all kind of equipment (containers, mega swap bodies, mega trailers, etc.) including also an access ramp to load finished vehicle for mixed trains, Enough capacity for a temporary storage / parking of swap bodies, trailers, etc. Cross dock facilities, Customs office, Security, Possibilities for extension. 8

Infrastructure: High capacity corridors, Train Length (up to 1500m), Railfreight villages (for mixed trains), Increase of the loading weight and height (e.g. China & USA with double deck train). 13

16 To Sum up our expectations as a customer The required evolution: Longer train, Efficient wagons : mobile and mixed superior floor (cars in a way and goods in the other), Development of the Railfreight villages concept, A decrease of traction cost. To obtain: More flexibility, A cost reduction and a better competitiveness to road, A transit times reduction or, at least, a reliability of these ones. 16
