2 The G6 Alliance Six leading container shipping lines have agreed in December 2011 to create one of the largest vessel networks in the Far East-to-Europe trade lane. The comprehensive agreement brought together members of the Grand Alliance and the New World Alliance to create the G6 Alliance. A year after the G6 Alliance was formed, the six member lines agreed to expand their cooperation to the Asia-to-North America East Coast trade in May In December 2013 members of the G6 Alliance announced plans to expand their cooperation to the Asia-North America West Coast and Trans-Atlantic trade lanes. The integrated and expanded cooperation will provide customers with more service choices and increased sailing frequency in addition to more flexibility when responding to market requirements. Connecting North America and North Europe Connecting North America and North Europe is one of the core businesses for Hapag-Lloyd offering service between the main ports in North Europe and the import/export gateways of North America. With the G6 services Hapag-Lloyd is proud to offer you an increased port coverage on the Atlantic with shorter transit-times for many port pairs. New from May 2014 Your benefits: More Sailings and New Ports Better Connectivity As of May 2014 Hapag-Lloyd will offer you five dedicated G6 services covering the US East- & West Coast, Mexico East Coast as well as Halifax and Vancouver in Canada. In addition to the excellent port coverage within the G6, Hapag-Lloyd will continue to offer outside of the G6 network the SLCS 1 & 2 with service from/to Montreal and North Europe as well as the ATA service with focus on Baltimore, Liverpool and Gothenburg. In total Hapag-Lloyd will offer eight services between North America and North Europe. Introducing Jacksonville, Miami and Vancouver as direct ports of call will expand the port coverage and better serve your transportation needs. The North America to Mediterranean services will remain unchanged, outside of the G6 Alliance Larger Vessels Smaller Impact on the Environment Environmental protection has always had a high priority at Hapag-Lloyd. As a leading liner shipping company it is our current and future commitment to protect the environment. One of our most important goals is to reduce the environmental impact of transport services we provide to our clients. Due to more economical vessels deployed in the new services between North America and North Europe, emissions per TEU will be reduced.
