Sample Zone Selectve Interlockng System Zone Selectve Interlockng (Phase and Ground) Zone selectve nterlockng s a protecton functon to mnmze equpment damage resultng from a phase fault or a ground fault n an area where long tme and/or short tme delay s n use. When the Ground Zone Interlockng feature s used, an mmedate trp s ntated when the fault s n the breaker s zone of protecton, and no restranng sgnal receved regardless of ts preset tme delay. When the Phase Zone Interlockng feature s used, the tme overcurrent and short delay phase elements work as follows. The short delay phase element wll ntate an mmedate trp when the fault s n the breaker s zone of protecton, and no restranng sgnal receved regardless of ts preset tme delay. The tme overcurrent phase element wll ntate an mmedate trp when the fault s n the breaker s zone of protecton, and no restranng sgnal receved regardless of ts preset tme delay only when the current beng sensed by the Dgtrp 000 exceeds 00% ( x I n ) of the current transformer ratng. Downstream Breaker C LOAD Upstream Dgtrp 000 protected breakers are restraned from trppng mmedately by an nterlockng sgnal from the downstream Dgtrp 000 relay. Ths nterlockng sgnal requres only a par of wres from the downstream breaker to the upstream breaker. It provdes standard coordnated trppng when the fault s located outsde the zone of protecton. In the sample zone nterlockng system shown above, crcut breakers A, B and C are equpped wth Dgtrp 000 overcurrent relays. Fault Locaton Zone Note: For the phase tme overcurrent element, the current sensed by the Dgtrp 000 must exceed 00% ( x I n ) for the zone selectve nterlockng to ntate an mmedate trp sgnal. If a fault occurs at a pont n Zone, the Dgtrp 000 of Downstream Breaker C senses the fault and sends a restranng sgnal to the upstream Dgtrp 000 of Feeder Breaker B. Havng receved ths sgnal, the Dgtrp 000 of Feeder Breaker B wthholds ts trp command. As a result, only Downstream Breaker C s trpped. Fault Locaton Zone Note: For the phase tme overcurrent element, the current sensed by the Dgtrp 000 must exceed 00% ( x I n ) for the zone selectve nterlockng to ntate an mmedate trp sgnal. Dgtrp 000 C If a fault occurs at a pont n Zone, the Dgtrp 000 of Feeder Breaker B senses the fault and sends a restranng sgnal to the upstream Dgtrp 000 of Man Breaker A. The Dgtrp 000 of the Downstream Breaker C does not see ths fault because t s stuated on the downstream sde of the fault. As a result, the Dgtrp 000 of Downstream Breaker C does not send a restranng sgnal to the Dgtrp 000 of Feeder Breaker B. Because t dd not receve a restranng sgnal from the Dgtrp 000 of Downstream Breaker C, the Dgtrp 000 of Feeder Breaker B dentfes that the fault s n Zone and mmedately trps Feeder Breaker B, regardless of ts tme settng. Fault Locaton Zone Note: For the phase tme overcurrent element, the current sensed by the Dgtrp 000 must exceed 00% ( x I n ) for the zone selectve nterlockng to ntate an mmedate trp sgnal. If a fault occurs n Zone, no restranng sgnal s receved by the Dgtrp of Man Breaker A. As a result, Man Breaker A s mmedately trpped by ts Dgtrp overcurrent relay, regardless of ts tme settng. 16 .- Feeder Protecton General Descrpton Dual-Source Power Supply September 0 Sheet Dgtrp 000 Relay wth Dual-Source Power Supply General Descrpton Eaton s Dgtrp 000 wth Dual-Source Power Supply (DSPS) s a mcroprocessor-based feeder overcurrent protectve relay desgned for AC auxlary power applcatons. The DSPS versons, Dgtrp 00 and Dgtrp 00, nclude an ntegral power supply module that: Powers the relay from nomnal 0 Vac, 0/0 Hz (Dgtrp 00 model) or 0 Vac, 0/0 Hz (Dgtrp 00 model) auxlary power, whch s normally connected and avalable Operates solely from the man current transformers (CTs) durng a fault f the normally connected auxlary AC voltage s not avalable, lke an electromechancal relay or an electronc self-powered relay The transton from external auxlary AC power to current power s smooth wth no tme delay Dgtrp 000 wth Dual-Source Power Supply The CT powerng capablty s crtcal for trppng f the AC auxlary supply or ts fuses fal pror to the fault; or f the fault tself collapses, the supply voltage at the crtcal moment when trppng s needed. The Dgtrp 000 wth Dual-Source Power Supply desgn offers sgnfcant performance and relablty benefts over the electromechancal or selfpowered relays. It provdes a full-tme meterng dsplay, remote communcatons and self-montorng functons. In addton, there s no calbraton requred. The burden s lower than most electromechancal and sold-state self-powered relays. The Dgtrp 000 wth DSPS provdes long-term, robust, mantenance-free performance, whch can t be acheved wth an energy-storng unnterruptble power supply (UPS). The DSPS wll operate anytme there s a fault even after an extended power outage. Functonal Descrpton The Dual-Source Power Supply contans one AC voltage transformer and three AC current transformers. The AC voltage transformer s used to supply nomnal AC control power to the unt. The current transformers are used to power the unt from the lne current. Normally, the unt wll operate from the AC auxlary power. Because ths voltage s usually obtaned from the system contanng the crcut that the relay s protectng, a fault on the protected lne could cause the AC voltage to drop below an acceptable operatng level. Below approxmately 0V for Dgtrp 00 or 0V for Dgtrp 00, the DSPS swtches over to current powerng. All three current transformer secondares are connected n seres to supply ths power. The DSPS wll supply enough power to operate the Dgtrp 000 overcurrent relay n the trpped state wth currents greater than. per unt rated secondary current, or A, n a snglephase. The DSPS wll operate wth three-phase currents n a trpped state wth currents greater than. per unt or A rated secondary current. Note: There wll be no effect to the Dgtrp 000 relay trp tme accuracy when the Dual-Source Power Supply swtches from normal AC voltage to fault-current power. For more nformaton, vst: CA0000E
