1 Product Safety Group 1201 South Second Street Milwaukee, WI USA PRODUCT NOTICE Notice of Potential Product Concern Rockwell Automation issues a Product Notice when it identifies a product(s) anomaly that may cause commercial or customer satisfaction concerns. Reference: Date: July 2016 Compact Busbar Feeder Terminals and Blocks May Crack During Installation This Product Notice informs you of a potential anomaly that exists with select Bulletin 140M and Bulletin 100 Compact Busbar Feeder Terminals and Feeder Blocks. During installation, the terminal may crack or break, or the screw may strip.

2 Page 2 of 5 Product Identification The affected products are 140M-C-WTN, 140M-C-WTEN, 140M-C-WBE, and 100-KWT feeder terminals and blocks. Affected product may be identified by the manufacturing date code, as shown on the product nameplate and carton label. Earlier product will be identified by a two letter date code of the format MY, where M is the month code and Y is the year code. For example, date code ZB represents December 2015, AC represents January 2016, BC represents February 2016, and CC represents March Later product will be identified by a numeric four digit date code of the format YYWW, where YY is the last two digits of the year and WW is the week of the year. For example, 1614 represents the 14 th week of 2016, or the week of April 4, 2016 and 1628 represents the 28 th week of 2016, or the week of July 11, The following table shows the affected product catalog numbers and date code ranges. If your product does not fall within the specific catalog number and data code information, you are not affected and no action is required on your part. Catalog Number Affected Date Codes 140M-C-WTEN ZB, AC, BC, CC, 1614 through M-C-WTN BC, CC, 1614 through M-C-WBE 1617 through KWT AC, BC, CC, 1614 through 1628 On the product carton label, the catalog number may be found in the CAT field and the date of manufacture will be in the lower right corner. In the example shown to the left, the catalog number is 140M- C-WTN and the data of manufacture is 1623, or the 23 rd week of This product is within the affected product date code range and would be subject to the corrective actions described in this document. On the product nameplate, the catalog number may be found on the wiring side of the feeder block in the top left corner of the nameplate and the date code may be found on the busbar side of the feeder block in the lower right corner of the nameplate. 3 Page 3 of 5 Description A potential anomaly exists with select Bulletin 140M and Bulletin 100 Compact Busbar Feeder Terminals and Feeder Blocks. During installation, the terminal may crack or break, or the screw may strip. On affected 140M-C-WTEN, 140M-C-WTN, 140M-C-WBE, and 100-KWT feeder terminals and blocks, when the terminal screw is tightened during installation, the wiring cage may crack or break, or the screw may strip. This will cause a poor electrical connection, resulting in over heating of the connection or a loss of the electrical connection. This anomaly has been identified during installation, but may occur after installation on systems subject to shock, vibration, or large thermal variations. Temporary Workarounds No workaround has been identified. Affected blocks must be replaced. Refer to the Correction section of this document. Correction Product that matches the catalog number and affected date code range as described in the Product Identification section of this document must be returned for replacement. Contact your local Rockwell Automation Distributor or Local Sales Office and request a Quality Return. Reference this Product Notice PN when requesting replacement material. Product that is in use in systems not subject to shock, vibration, or high thermal variations may continue to be operated without replacement. However, if you have any concerns about the use of potentially affected product in your installation, you may return your product as described above. Important Rockwell Automation is implementing corrective actions to address the anomaly listed in this document. As a result, replacement product may not be immediately available. Contact your local Rockwell Automation Distributor or Sales Office to confirm availability. Requested Customer Action Rockwell Automation requests you take the following actions: Check if you have a product affected by this Product Notice. Refer to the Product Identification and Description sections of this document for product identification assistance. If applicable, contact your local Rockwell Automation Distributor or Sales Office for replacement. Make sure to reference this Product Notice when requesting replacement product. Rockwell Automation will accept requests for replacement product for a period of 18 months from the initial publication of this Product Notice. All returns should be over packed to prevent shipping damage during transit. Continue to check incoming shipments for potentially affected product. Product in transit or in non-rockwell Automation inventory may continue to contain potentially affected product for a period of time after the publication of this document.
