To set up Microsoft Outlook 2003 to access your email account, follow these instructions.

3 To set up Microsoft Outlook 2003 to access your account, follow these instructions. You will need to know the following information before you get started: Your address Your password Creating a New Profile We recommend that you create a new Outlook profile to use with this account. Exit Outlook Begin by closing all Outlook windows (including messages) and exiting out of Outlook. Outlook cannot be running during the setup process. Open the Mail Control Panel Item Click on the Start button and open the Control Panel. If you haven t already done so, switch to Classic View or view by icons, depending on your version of Windows: Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7 Look for an icon that says Mail (or Mail (32-bit) on 64-bit versions of Windows 7). If you don t see it, look for an icon labeled View 32-bit Control Panel Items (you ll see this on 64-bit versions of Windows Vista), and open that. Page 3 of 12

4 Open the Mail icon, then click Show Profiles: Add Your New Profile To create a new profile, click Add and enter a name for the new profile. You can name the new profile anything you like, but you may want to call it Smarsh or the name of your company You will now be prompted to add your new account. Page 4 of 12

6 Carefully enter pit-array-01.smarshmail.com as the Microsoft Exchange server. For the username, enter your address, then click More Settings. At this point you may receive an error message; if you do, that s not a problem. Just click OK. Page 6 of 12

7 If you see this window, with only one tab at the top that says General, click Cancel: You should now see a window with five tabs across the top. Click the Security tab: Page 7 of 12

8 Check the box labeled Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange Server, then click the Connection tab: At the bottom, check the box labeled Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP and click the button for Exchange Proxy Settings. Page 8 of 12

9 Enter outlook.smarshmail.com in the first box, and check the box labeled On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP. At the bottom, change from NTLM Authentication to Basic Authentication, and click OK. Page 9 of 12

10 Click OK again, then click the Check Name button. When asked for your user name and password, enter your address in the User name field, then enter your password and check the Remember my password box. Be careful sometimes the User name field may show the wrong address by default, so make sure you enter the address of the account you re setting up. Click OK. Page 10 of 12

If everything worked correctly, your email address should be replaced by your name, with an underline.

12 Activate Your New Profile Most people only need one active profile for Outlook. Select the Always use this profile option, and choose the new profile you just created. Alternately, if you d like to switch between different profiles, select Prompt for a profile to be used instead. Click OK, and close out of the Control Panel. Launch Microsoft Outlook Open Microsoft Outlook, and you should be asked to enter a user name and password again. Enter your address as the user name, and enter your password: Outlook should now connect to the server and begin synchronizing your folders. Setup is complete! You can now send and receive .
