1 January 23, 2007 Dear District Leader: Enclosed please find the materials for registration for the 2007 Mid-Winter Conference and Board Meeting to be held in Richmond, British Columbia the weekend of March 2 March 4, As we indicated in our to you of December 20 th, we are asking that all of you call the Best Western Richmond Inn directly for your room reservations. The number is or We have negotiated a Kiwanis rate of $98.00 Canadian (plus tax) for both single and doubles. At the current rate of exchange, that is about $84.00 in U.S. dollars. You MUST make certain to identify yourself as a Kiwanian in order to receive this rate. In order to guarantee a room, you will need to do this before Sunday, February 4 th. After that date, the hotel does not guarantee the availability of rooms or the Kiwanis rate. This is a busy hotel very near the Vancouver Airport so it does fill up quickly! Your registration sheet with meal options and payment needs to be back to us at the District Office by Thursday, February 22 nd. Because we must give the hotel our meal counts prior to the conference, we are not able to sell additional meal tickets at the door. You MUST pre-register. For the Lt. Governors If your successor has been identified and/or elected, we are asking that you please pass along these Registration materials to them. Please let your successors know that they are welcome to attend. While we are not able to provide Lt. Governor-elects with any financial support to attend this conference, many Lt. Governors who have attended Board meetings prior to their training have said that it gave them a head start in preparing for their year! It also gives them an opportunity to meet Governor-elect Rich Jensen with whom they will be serving. PASSPORT INFORMATION For those attending the meeting who will be driving from the US, be sure that you take sufficient ID with you to pass into Canada and (most important) return to the United States. Your Passport is the best form of ID and citizenship -- if you have one. If not, you will need a government issued picture ID (driver's license) and your birth certificate. (This is the last year for this -- after Jan. 1, 2008 we will all need a Passport to cross the border by land or sea IN EITHER DIRECTION.) FLYING? NEW THIS YEAR FOR THOSE PLANNING TO FLY IN & OUT OF VANCOUVER -- After January 22, 2007 it will be MANDATORY that all air passengers present their Passport. Therefore, if you were planning to fly to Vancouver for this meeting -- and do not have a Passport, we recommend you fly in and out of Seattle and drive from there. MINOR CHILDREN? If you plan to take minor children with you across the border, please see the form on the next page of this packet. This form must be filled out and carried with you if the child will not be accompanied by both of his/her parents/legal guardians. The child will also need their own Passport or other identification (as outlined above).
