2 SITE HISTORY The building complex of the Warteck brewery is a remarkable site, created through the renovation of a large-scale industrial brewery in the years 1924 to 1933 by the architects Suter and Burckhardt. The brewery was closed in 1990, but several key historical features of the old brewery have been conserved. In particular, the former broth house at heart of the complex. This dramatic space retains its original ceramic tiling and is where SUD is located today. The larger complex of the old brewery, the "Werkraum Warteck pp" houses a community of more than thirty studios, restaurants, workshops and projects. For one week each June, the entire building is turned over to host Basel s celebrated Liste Art Fair.
3 LOCATION probably the most beautiful club of Switzerland (Der Bund, 2011) Founded in March 2011, SUD is located in splendid scenery with a unique industrial lounge atmosphere. A well -stocked bar offers not only a wide assortment of drinks and cocktails, but also a Häppli Hour with tasty tapas and antipasti. More than just a bar, SUD also functions as popular performance space, hosting a range of events; including concerts, theatre, parties, vaudeville and poetry slams. The venue offers a large stage with several options for presentation: You can move the different levels in such a way as to give audiences a range of viewing possibilities. The venue is also unique as it houses a fully air-conditioned smokers room; the eye-catching Fumoir with its dramatic glazed windows, which rises like a UFO out of the central space of the hall. SUD provides partial handicapped access for guests with wheel chairs via the side entrance.

9 Copyrights for DJ-acts are taken over by the hirer. However, concerts must be accounted by the tenant in addition (Only for public occasions with consumption duty). The amount (10% of the income), which must be handed to the SUISA, is calculated to the rent. Special Prices for events over several days benefits can be negotiated. Rent reduction for events of social institutions, Co-productions or start events at the discretion of SUD management. OPENING HOURS During the opening hours during the season (September - May) the venue can only be partially rented unless a special arrangement is made with the management. FRI SAT SUN from event begin to 4 am from event begin to 4 am 10 am to 4 pm BALCONY RESERVATION The balcony can be rented with a minimum amount per person of CHF with a minimum of 10 people and during public hours. BAR The bar runs before, during and after the events by SUD, if not differently determined. A possible participation in the turnover is determined by treaty. The bar staff are recruited by SUD. CATERING For Aperitifs we recommend our chef, which prepares market-fresh antipasti and tapas. In addition, we also work with the restaurants Brauerei (www.brauerei-basel.ch) and Cantina Don Camillo (www.cantinadoncamillo.ch). Self-Catering service is by arrangement. SECURITY From o'clock security staff are required as SUD is located in a residential area. The security staff will be recruited by SUD. The number of Staff will be determined in advance. In addition, the regulations for parking must be adhered too. The emergency exits must be free and unlocked from the inside. For the Employment of security staff; the tenant will be charged the actual
10 costs. The maximum number of 400 people as regulated by the Fire Authority is to be adhered at all times. The tenant is legally and financially responsible for any fines or litigation resulting from an excess in the number of guests; in this instance the tenant is also liable for any damage, in particular for possible penalties by the police. TECHNICS The stereo equipment has a built-in sound limiter and like the lighting system may only be operated by SUD staff. A 93 db limit must be observed at all times in the evenings. For the employment of light and sound technicians, the tenant will be charged the actual costs. CLEANING The tenant is responsible for cleaning costs. The cleaning will be carried out by SUD staff. DAMAGES, LIABILITY The tenant is liable for damages to the building, to facilities and furnishings, also if the damages have been caused by the visitors/guests. This is also valid for theft of material during the time of the event. Organizer and company liability is a the responsibility of the tenant. CASHIER AND CLOACKROOM STAFF SUD recruits its own cashiers and cloakroom staff unless otherwise arranged. SUD keeps the income of the cloakroom. DECORATION No ignitable materials or colour may be used for decoration. Additional decorations must be arranged with the SUD management After the event the decoration must be removed completely. The regulations of the Basel insurance agency are valid. END OF EVENT Sunday till Thursday events end at 1 am, Friday and Saturday at 4 am. Possible
11 penalties concerning excess of the allowed times are to be paid by the tenant. If requested an exemption for extended opening hours can be applied ( 18 paragraph 2 VoGGG), the costs of CHF are for the account of the tenant. CONDITION OF PAYMENT The rent, the security costs and the additional costs must be paid on the evening of the event. An invoice is possible by prior arrangement with SUD, this must be paid upon receipt within 30 days. Cancellation: until 2 months before event CHF 0.--, until 1 month before event 50% of the rent, afterwards 100% of the rent. In addition, the tenant is liable for all expenses realised by SUD in arrangement for the event. FINAL REGULATION The management of SUD is entitled to present additional regulations, to which the tenant will be immediately informed. At the discretion SUD management, rental fees may be subject to change, tenants will be notified in advance of bookings. NON-OBSERVANCE OF REGULATIONS The management of SUD reserves the right to cancel all events and prior agreements with tenants in the case of non-observance of the above regulations.
