Links are also available on the website for additional help. All notes can be found on my website. Most handouts, labs, and non book homework can be found on my website. Review of what was done/will be done can be found on my website. Textbook, Notebook, Planner Pen or Pencil (pencil for tests) Calculator and flash drive on an as needed basis Assignment due that day
2 Behavioral Expectations and Consequences: If you are absent, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for bringing up your absence slip before class or during work time. Make up work and notes are YOUR RESPONSIBILTY. Missed labs will need to be made up or substituted with an alternative assignment. A make-up period of TWO days will be given for unplanned absences and one day for planned absences. This includes tests. Test dates will be known about a week prior to taking the test. If you are gone the day before a test due to a planned absence- you will still be taking the test. If a school cancellation occurs, expect assignments, tests, etc to be due/taken upon return Cheating- if I catch you cheating you will receive no credit for that work/test. If I have reason to believe you cheated, I will offer you the opportunity to retake a different test or different work, etc Plagiarism is using the thoughts or work from someone else and claiming it to be your own. When working on projects and writing papers, research your information and use that information, DO NOT COPY. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE. That is not your own work and is the same as cheating. And remember to give credit where it is due in regards to your information. RESPECT- Respect will be displayed toward everyone as well as to their property. If you are in high school and are still unclear as to what respect means, I would be happy to sit down and talk about it with you. No foul, abusive, or obscene language in my classroom or in my presence. No hat, coat, or electronics are allowed in class. Cell phones and other electronics are not allowed in class. They will be confiscated and locked up until the end of the following school day. No food, pop, candy or gum in the classroom- water is allowed in the classroom.
3 Detailed information regarding behavior system No horseplay will be allowed in lab- it will result in removal from lab, no make up is available- NO EXCEPTIONS. Be prepared for class and ready to learn- if you do not have your book, notebook, a writing utensil, and calculator- you will need to return and get them which may result in a tardy. A flash drive is also advised. Grading System: Curriculum Schedule Grading A % A % B % B 83-86% B % C % C 73-76% C % D % D 63-66% D % Third Quarter: Genetics and Evolution Fourth Quarter: Plants and Animals Grade Break Down Tests & Quizzes 30% Papers & Projects 25% Labs & Activities 25% Homework 10% Self Grade 10% Homework Policy Test make up will be allowed if you meet the following criteria: Completed chapter review from book, a signed note from home stating that you spent at least one hour reviewing for the makeup test, and at least 30 minutes spent in my room reviewing and asking questions There will be multiple quizzes per chapter Not only will absences lower your grade, they will also affect your performance in class. Work will be turned in at the beginning of class. Late work MUST be turned in by the test day. Late work will be worth 50% if turned in within ONE week. No credit will be given beyond one week You are responsible for completing all work, tests, quizzes, etc for planned absences (pre approved, field trip, sports, appointments, etc ) BEFORE you leave. Work missed from unexcused absences will result in no credit. Assignments turned in that are illegible, use abbreviations such as cuz or other text message language will be returned to be redone. Work without names will receive no credit unless proper ownership may be proven and then will be worth half credit. Typed assignments will be turned in electronically via
