PRINCIPAL S REPORT Congratulations Junkyard Orchestra Well done to our Junkyard Orchestra on their performance last Thursday night. The Junkyard Orchestra involves around 20 students who have created instruments out of junk recycled or reused rubbish. Old bins, pipes, drink containers have been used to create lots of noise. The Junkyard orchestra competition is run by Erina Fair and sponsored by Star FM to encourage a love of music and for students to think about recycling. Thanks to Mr Singh and Mrs Waters for their composition and leadership of the Junkyard Orchestra. Thank You to Our Supporters On Wednesday students from our support unit put morning tea on to thank two of the local groups that provide support for our school. Representatives from the Terrigal/Wamberal Lions Club and from Breakers Country Club joined our student leaders and representatives from our P & C for morning tea, prepared and served by students from Mrs Knowles class. Both the Lions Club and Breakers Country Club provide grants to the school which allow students in the Support Unit to undertake their Life Skills programs. Mr Ken Pearson (Chief Executive Officer Breakers Country Club), Mr Terry Ebert (President Terrigal/Wamberal Lions Club) and Mr Gavin Bryant (President Breakers Country Club) join our Leaders (Connor and Charlotte) and our support unit waiters (Preston, Kyle, Blake, Saxon, Jazz and James) for morning tea. Farewell Mr Singh Mr Singh will leave us at the end of term as he moves with his family to Queensland. Mr Singh has been with us as a temporary teacher for the last three years and has conducted our drama and music programs. We thank Mr Singh for his contribution to our school and wish him all the best for his new ventures in Queensland.

4 Welcome Mrs Haydn In a fair exchange we welcome Mrs Haydn from Queensland. Mrs Haydn has taken over from Mrs Carson on 6HC three days a week. Year 5 Camp Next week our Year 5 students are off to camp. We wish them good weather and lots of fun. Thanks to Mrs Neale for her organisation of the camp and to Mr Drennan, Mr Hancock, Mr Lowe and Mrs Burge for giving up time away from their own families to provide this opportunity to students. School Disco On Tuesday night we had our school Sporting Hero themed disco. There were lots of wonderful outfits on display and our students had a great night. Thank you to Mrs Walkaden and her team for organising such a fun-filled evening. Sport Team Photos Sport team photos will be taken on Friday 14 th of October (first week back). Terrigal s Got Talent Our annual Terrigal s Got Talent showcased the amazing performance skills of a number of students including those from Stage 3 and our school choirs. Thank you to Mr Krisher and Mrs Waters for their time and effort in organising this entertaining event. End of Term 3 and Beginning of Term 4 Students finish term 3 next Friday 23 rd September and then return to school, after the Spring holidays, on Monday 10 th October. 16 Sept/Oct 2016 ARCHERY (INDOOR) Get on target & challenge the kids with this great Olympic sport. 10am 12pm or 1pm 3pm CANOEING/KAYAKING Experienced guides will ensure safety is the number one priority, followed closely by lots of fun. Participants must be able to swim 50 metres. 10am 12:30pm GYMNASTICS INTRODUCTION 2 day program (indoor). This introductory program includes basic fundamental movement and gymnastic skills will be taught which would include specific apparatus safety in a fun and friendly environment with accredited coaches. 12pm 2pm (4 hours in total) PARKOUR (INDOOR) is a non competitive physical discipline of training to move freely over and through any terrain/surface using only the ability of the body principally running, jumping, climbing improving attributes required for movement which include functional strength, fitness, balance, spatial awareness, agility, co ordination, precision, control and creative vision. When booking, please advise your child's experience (if any) with Parkour. 3 5pm (2 hour program in total) SAILING 3 day program. Join in on the fun on the water and learn to sail. Catering for beginners to advanced, this program is taught Yachting Australia instructors on dinghies. Participants must be able to swim 50 metres. 9:30am 3:30pm (18 hours in total). SURF LIFE SAVING Kids will learn about beach and surf recreation whilst having loads of fun. 10am 2pm. (Parents must be at beach by 2pm to pick up participants). SURFING Learn to surf with Central Coast Surf School in a fun, safe environment with professional experienced instructors. Soft surfboards, wetsuits, rash vests and sunscreen are supplied. You ll be stoked with your progress in our 3 day course. (4.5 hours in total). STAND UP PADDLE It s fun and easier than you think. Within just one lesson, we will have you up and paddling. This program is jam packed with useful tips and techniques so you quickly gain skill and confidence. 10:30am 12:30pm. TENNIS GOSFORD 3 day program. This great value clinic for 5 to 16 year olds is run by experienced coaches from Gosford Tennis Centre and caters for all levels. It doesn't matter whether you have never played or if you want to improve your skills. This clinic covers all aspects of the game including court etiquette, the different shots (forehand, backhand, volleying etc) and learning the rules, matchplay and scoring. Lunch is included each day. If torrential rain or extreme heat (38 degrees & above) is predicted, the program will go ahead, however, we will do our best to contact clients beforehand to see if they would like to still attend on that day of the extreme weather event.
