1 Another THANK YOU to the ladies who came and added some fresh paint to the playground fence outside Star Class. When a child runs their hands along it and says, Ooh, that looks lovely and bright, it makes it all the more worthwhile Diary Dates We keep a school calendar on the website We are a values school This week Appreciation 25th April Bedford Boys school Open Morning 10am 28th April Ocarina Festival. You will be as pleased as I am to welcome Miss McInnerny who will be moving from her school in Milton Keynes to join us. Her current school have allowed that she may visit us in between and get to know the children a little better before the Summer. We have also recruited Mrs Jane Goodson to help Mrs Osborne in our busy school office. She will work on Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs Gray will leave us at half term, after kindly staying on whilst we recruited for the additional hours our office now needs. Our free Radio Club and Speed Stacking club started this week. The children have learned the format of a podcast and how to edit sounds using our ipads. Speed stacking was a lot fun and we hope the children will improve their speeds each week. As we try to increase our extra curricular activities, we aim to broaden the children's scope and provide activities not usually available in the curriculum. Mrs Aldred has recently sent letters for two clubs in the mornings to fill the void left behind when our much loved Street Dance club finished. I know the Gardening Club have their wellies firmly in the ground and look forward to seeing the fruits of their labours with Mrs Harfield. The multilingual club are currently learning German and this week learned about healthy and unhealthy food. If you have any expertise and time to spare, then please do get in touch with Mrs Aldred. Country Day! Our school council were mindful this half term that we have many children with links to countries in Europe. So for Friday 1st May, they decided that the children should choose which ever country they wished to for a dress up focus, although dressing up is not mandatory. At school, we will organise the houses into four groups with a focus for each one do let your child s teacher know if you are keen to help out. From Mrs Finch Please do pop in and speak to a member of staff if you have any concerns. Mrs FINCH For an enlarged copy of the newsletter, please ask your child s teacher.
2 Mrs Blakelock and Mrs Aldred made the most of the sunshine by taking the children to the outside decking. With their clocks at the ready, they learned about telling the time. 3 Moon class took their clipboards outside in the sunshine to think about things that have been alive, are dead or have never been alive Sun class avoided the sun they were looking for a darkened space in the art cupboard to test out their high visibility clothing.
4 At Radio club, Sonny used software to record and edit sounds. It was a real giggle too! We listened to European music from Spain and tried to capture the rhythms. We included dynamics in our own compositions. Finding our own way of writing this helped us keep in time with our friends and repeat our patterns. On Monday we heard the story of St George. We later retold it as a class, then in groups devised a role play about the story. We will be very familiar with the story when we write about it it wasn't just about a dragon after all!
