1 Introduction 1.1 Service Summary Atos has vast experience within multiple government customers in providing Solution Architecture and Design services that enable customers to design, plan and execute bespoke projects. The key benefits of this service are: - The alignment of Atos customers business mission, strategy, processes, and information to IT strategy. - Improved business performance and agility via end to end business process re-engineering. - Enabling anytime access to systems and data via Cloud and Mobile solutions - blurring the space between work and personal environments. - The rationalisation and upgrade of disparate / legacy IT systems, simplifying an ever more complex technology landscape and leading to greater business efficiencies. - A greater focus on a rich user experience making business applications easier and more productive to use. Atos Solution Architecture and Design Service will potentially focus on all areas of the Solution Architecture according to the specific needs of each customer engagement, and ensuring full alignment between the business and IT strategies. It includes developing assessments, roadmaps and strategies for the following architectural perspectives: - Enterprise Architecture: the changes to business processes, software systems and IT infrastructure that are required to realise the business vision and its outcomes. - Business Architecture: the business services and information required to enable the solution considering what people do, who does what, where it is done and which information is needed. - Data Architecture: the data models, policies, rules and standards governing how data is collected, stored, integrated, archived and disposed. - Application/Software Architecture: the software technology, structure, processes, tools, and environments required to build, test and deploy a software system that meets the requirements of the Solution. - Enterprise Integration Architecture: processes and technologies that integrate and enable a sustainable Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) practice. - Technical/Infrastructure Architecture: the infrastructure technology, (e.g. hardware, virtualisation and operating platform, networking) required to run software applications in a cost effective manner. - Information Security Architecture: the current and / or future structure and behaviour of the organisation s security processes, information security systems, networks, staff and physical security. Additionally, Atos consider the elaboration of a Solution Design, focusing on: - Accessibility - Usability - User Interface - Web Service Interface - Business Process Management (BPM) Page 1 of 23

- Software Application - Software Application Integration - Database - Security - Development Environment - Application Infrastructure - Service Management The service is delivered by ISEB and TOGAF accredited Architects who follow the Atos in-house, CMMI accredited global methodology (the Global Development Platform, or GDP). The GDP is aligned to PRINCE 2, MSP and ITIL delivery standards and includes best practice for Waterfall, Iterative / Phased and Agile (SCRUM, DSDM, Kanban) lifecycle approaches. 1.2 How this service can be used This service can be used in many scenarios, including: - A first step in the initiation of a new application development, business process or IT transition project. - Supporting customers business in identifying and prioritising mission-critical business requirements. - Assessing and planning the rationalisation, upgrade and / or re-design of a legacy application estate. - Providing expert assistance to identify the best IT solution for Atos customers business problems. - Augmenting Atos customers teams with experienced, industry accredited Architects and Designers with a deep knowledge and experience of technology. 6 2 Service Overview 2.1 Solution Architecture & Design for Cloud Atos approach to Solution Architecture & Design for Cloud is based on an understanding of the overall business strategy and requirements, and what Cloud can provide for Atos customers in terms of: - Use of standard building blocks, with configuration and customisation kept to the minimum to shorten the project lifecycle. - Services paid for as they are used. - Hosted solutions, reducing the need to fit in with complex legacy infrastructure. - Emphasis on common standards, not just for system development but also for business processes. Standardisation of the "building blocks" out of which solutions are constructed is necessary but not sufficient. It is also necessary to accept a standardised approach to the building of those solutions, and the processes that govern the building of solutions. The Atos architectural approach is based on The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF). Rather than rigid adherence to internally focused ICT principles, Atos believe that Solution Design should support Business Strategy across a number of key dimensions: Business: Business Design is the key to ensuring that the solution addresses business needs for end-to-end processes, taking into consideration the way that Atos customers are organised and how they are distributed geographically. Applications: AtosAtos believe that Application design in the Cloud largely requires the use of standard building blocks targeted at specific problems. To address this, Atos offer a range of architectural building blocks, targeted at specific and common business problems. The Solution Architecture & Design for Cloud service identifies the standard components that can form the backbone of the solution, while proposing solutions for the building blocks which may be missing and the glue which will hold them together. Data: The Atos approach is to work with customers during project initiation to understand the vocabulary that is used to describe the attributes of the business, along with its usage and meaning. This creates the initial Information Architecture which provides an anchor for clear communication through future project phases. From the common vocabulary, the key information entities that the business relies on, and how they are affected by the major business processes - and crucially, the ownership of information assets within the business. Analysis of how and where that information is stored and managed within the business and the application and platform (database) systems that support it will reveal the current information architecture of the business; enterprise-scale architectural transformation is invariably driven by an information architecture roadmap that rationalises and simplifies that current model in steps towards the future model, removing duplications and overlaps in how information is held. Page 3 of 23

Design for cloud requires special consideration of: - Data scalability, caching for performance and use of message queues for resiliency. - Multi vs. single tenancy impact when storing and caching data. - Methods, formats and cost of importing and exporting data from the cloud, backup/restore of data in the cloud, and data availability. - Physical location of data, e.g. which country/continent, legal requirements, who can access the data in certain locations, etc. Platform: Accredited Secure Cloud (ASC) is the Atos specific service aimed at customers with high Information Assurance requirements. The service is based on a multitenanted platform built to satisfy specific security regimes. It is applicable but not limited to: - Systems requiring the handling of IL3 data and IL3 data aggregated to IL4 levels: ASC is accredited to Pan Government Accreditation (PGA) standards. - Systems that can share facilities with other UK Government systems with similar security and accreditation requirements. - Systems that can share facilities with other UK Government communications networks (i.e. PSN). ASC is a total solution encompassing a technology and service operating model, geared to host services delivering Government ICT and Public Sector Business Development strategic aims: - To achieve more with less, interacting with citizens through web-based solutions. - To ensure that technologies employed in services delivery are open. - To enable a secure hosting platform on which to deploy robust specialist Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) products; helping Government to reduce headcount, but also to maintain service integrity through the elimination of backroom processing waste by automated, self- service solutions. ASC is the basis for standard tiered service offerings providing predefined platforms and packages of services that can be delivered more rapidly, at a lower cost, and with less risk of errors. The following main services are delivered from within the secure cloud, and are supported by Atos Professional Services to meet specific customer requirements: PGA Accredited Services: - Assured Platform as a Service (apaas) - aahps (Audit as a Service) Not PGA Accredited Services: - Assured Infrastructure as a Service (aiaas) - Assured Software as a Service (SaaS) - Assured Voice as a Service (avaas) - Assured Atos Workplace as a Service (aawaas) - Access Service standard and client-specific security zoning Through Atos Professional Services, configurations of this core platform can be designed and implemented to meet specific customer requirements. Atos have specific professional expertise in the integration of disparate cloud services into a common security framework encompassing authentication, access control and audit. Page 4 of 23

These include: - Mobility plan development. Atos support customers in developing a mobility strategy matching their business requirements, to design a solution concept and to develop an implementation plan. - User Experience (UX) Design and Lab Service, where customers can send their current or new applications to analyse their services from a usercentric point of view with the objective to differentiate their products and offer a better experience to their customers. - Mobile application design and implementation services, from requirements engineering to software development for all major mobile platforms including submission of the tested application to customer specific / public Application Stores. - Integration of mobile applications with IT backend systems to enable end-to-end mobile usage scenarios and make backend data available and accessible for mobile devices. - Design and implementation of Mobile Device Management solutions to manage mobile device assets, mobile device settings and configurations, and security settings. - Solutions to make contextual information (e.g. location) available within mobile solutions. This includes the interfaces to the respective context providers and the aggregation of contextual information to adapt information presented to mobile users. - Use of contextual information to improve the user experience and help automated decision making with minimum human intervention. 2.3 Agile Solutions Architecture & Design Atos s teams are experienced in delivering in agile environments and using Agile techniques. Atos s teams have used Scrum and more recently used a Scrum/Kanban mix (Scrum-ban) with success. In order to best support Agile delivery, Atos subscribes to: - No BDUF (big design up front); capture of the vision for the product/service and for a given release at the start of a series of iterative deliveries. - Capture of non-functional requirements as user stories in accordance with the stated release vision. - Use of Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) techniques to capture requirements as user stories; and to define business readable acceptance test scenarios which are automatically executed in a continuous integration environment. - Design of flexible architecture in alignment with the user stories. - Flexible architecture enabled by separation of architectural concerns, e.g. SOA principles, Inversion of Control. - Atos software engineering teams subscribe to test automation practices such as BDD (Behaviour Driven Development) and TDD (Test Driven Development) that enable changes to be made with confidence within iterations and improve maintainability of code. - Highly automated build and release processes to improve release quality and reduce release overheads. Page 5 of 23

- Best of breed tooling. Atos enables Atos teams through appropriate integrated development environments, code/configuration tooling, source control and build tooling. - Use of Kanban techniques and Lean Software Engineering concepts such as Just In Time (JIT), control of Work In Progress (WIP), and constant WIP pipelines used a pull-based work scheduling system. In addition to the principals outlined above Atos can enable faster code delivery through the use of frameworks and accelerators. These code and architecture building blocks, such as coding frameworks like Spring, Drupal or persistence frameworks like Nhibernate/HIbernate, allow the teams to focus on the value add delivery of writing business logic and building user centric UI. Atos can provide a solution using these skills, as a part of a larger programme, or to advise an existing team. Page 6 of 23

5 On-boarding and Off-boarding 5.1 On-boarding As part of the initiation phase, a workshop would be arranged to ensure that the scope of the engagement is clear. This would also include ideally the establishment of a collaboration portal to exchange information and track progress throughout the engagement. 5.2 Off-boarding As part of the completion phase, Atos would arrange a workshop to transition the learning and final report to the customer s team. This will include transitioning all of the work products from the collaboration portal. Any models and data that have been used will be transitioned (assuming that such transition is permitted by any licenses that have been purchased by the customer). Subscription licences cannot be transferred. Customers are required to download any log data that may be needed to preserve due to legal or governance requirements. Once downloaded, customers are then responsible for storing that data in compliance with the requirements. 5.3 Time for provisioning/de-provisioning The elapsed minimum time for provisioning is typically one month but can be brought forward under certain circumstances. Page 9 of 23

11 Training If necessary, additional services can be provided to train-up customer staff in the tools and techniques associated with this Architecture and Design Service. The development of training and training materials for the use of the digital service is a key element of the service development lifecycle Training Services Atos Training Services are flexibly designed to suppor the customer s requirement. It is key to work closely from the outset of a training requirement to understand the reasons for the training and the expected business benefits. Understanding the organisation, strategies, objectives and goals is critical to the overall success of the training solution. This enables the design and implement focused learning solutions that take into account the culture, business environment and the impact of the changes. It is important that a well-designed and intuitive solution requires less training: saving both time and money. Effective training is an integral part of the overall solution and without it the anticipated return on investment is unlikely to be realised. The Atos approach ensures the solution builds awareness, knowledge and understanding. This improves ownership and commitment, increasing the user s confidence in and enthusiasm for the new working practices. Typically the Training Service may cover the following training activities: Training Needs Analysis Design and Development of training material including on-line training materials such as e-learning programmes Training Delivery Training Support Services such as floor walking, and one-to-one training Training Administration Training Communication Programmes Training Management Evaluation of training 11.2 Training Material Development Methodology The Atos Training Development Methodology is a collaborative approach to developing training materials. This methodology has proved to be successful in developing training courses, and materials for a wide variety of customers. The Atos Training Development Methodology covers the following activities: Scope Definition Content Development Preparation of Materials Development of Training Courses Sign off at each stage Page 12 of 23
