The Halifax Stanfield International Airport processes approximately 3.7 million passengers annually, and makes use of many technologies to efficiently provide a seamless experience for travelers. Some organizations are hesitant to jump-in giving the turbulence while others seem to have no difficulty to harness all these changes. Shadow IT is now omnipresent in most organizations fueled by numerous cloud analytics solutions. Richard will share Yellow Pages' Big Data & Analytics roadmap covering architecture and best practices in the context of bi-modal organizations, operational analytics, advanced analytics, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and more. 1:00 p.m. Data Analytics Hits the Road Curtis Cartmill, Chief Information Officer LED Roadway Lighting Curtis will discuss the process of getting a start-up product manufacturing company to use technology from the ground up. It will talk about the struggle of getting IT to be a priority in an organization whose processes and people were not technology oriented, but needed to be in order to become a global manufacturer of a unique energy efficient technology. Curtis will also share the challenges of getting employees to use technology and the value of it, successes in implementing business processes and collaboration, while building the strategy to stay current and preparing to be more cloud-oriented and use data analytics for its future. 1:45 p.m. What CBSA does with Analytics Lucie Loignon, Director General, Business, Corporate Projects and Portfolio Management Directorate, Information, Science and Technology Branch Canada Border Services Agency The presentation will provide an overview of data analytics at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).It will describe how data analytics helps to address current and future business challenges. Fraser, Partner McInnes Cooper Just as big data and analytics force us to re-think business informatics, these innovations also require us to re-examine privacy and data protection.
