1 INFORMATION BOOKLET OF THE 5TH SEEC, BLED OCTOBER Introduction With great pleasure and privilege we invite you to the 5th Southeast European Conference on Chemotherapy and Infection in Bled (Slovenia) in October, Alongside SEEC 2014 the 20th Slovenian Conference on Infectious Diseases and 5th Postgraduate Course in Antimicrobial Prescribing will be organized. The main focus of the conference is treatment of infectious and oncological diseases in southeastern Europe. Experts in basic and clinical sciences, chosen by the International Scientific Committee, will shed new light on the latest developments in the fields of infectology and oncology. 2. Location The 5th SEEC will be held in Hotel Golf in Bled (Slovenia). The hotel is located close to the Lake Bled and within walking distance from other hotels available for accommodation. The town of Bled, in the midst of the Alps, is renowned for its many natural and cultural sights. The best known is the glacial lake with a charming island. Bled offers mild climate that attracts people throughout the year and presents them with a handful of choices for activities. Other nearby sights include: the Bled castle, churches, hills around the lake, the Vintgar gorge and many more. Bled is located in the northwestern part of Slovenia and is not far from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. Slovenia is a small central European country with population of 2 million. The diverse landscape spans from Alps to Adriatic Sea with many natural, cultural and historical sites in between. The area has been populated from prehistoric times and has evolved under rule of many different states from Roman Empire to Yugoslavia. However since 1991 Slovenia is an independent country that has joined European Union in

2 How to reach the conference venue? By car: to reach Bled you need to exit A2 highway (Karavanke tunnel - Obrežje) at Lesce/Bled exit (number 3). By local road you will reach Bled in 20 km. By train: The Lesce - Bled railway station (4 km) lies on the Villach - Jesenice - Ljubljana - Belgrade - Istanbul - Athens railway line. Local bus or taxi can bring you to the venue. By plane: The nearest international airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport at Brnik, 36 km away. Transfer from and to airport can be booked in the registration process. Informations regarding flight number and arrival time have to be provided. Rate for one-way transfer is 18 per person (the driver will wait in the arrival lobby of the airport with conference sign). By bus: Bled is connected by regular bus routes with the surrounding area and all major towns in Sovenia. 3. Accomodation Accomodation can be arranged through the Organization Secretariat (rates are per day and per room including buffet breakfast; local tourist tax of 1.01 EUR per person per day is not included). The Organizing Secretariat has reserved hotel rooms at a special price for all 5th SEEC participants. The deadline for reservation of accommodation is September 10, Afterwards the rooms will be available on request basis (rates might be higher). 2.
