1 RGA GYMNASTS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS! Lewis Walker & Isabella Montagna were crowned World Champions at the Acrobatic World Championships in Paris in July. RGA Newsletter Issue 2 After 5 years together and numerous medals at British and International competitions for Richmond and GB squad, this was a wonderful day for them, their families and everyone at RGA. Tabbie Dawson, Scarlett Wright & Kitty Williams also came away with a medal- this time silver in the women s trio category. A fantastic result from our young gymnasts and we are very proud of them. Senior trio Jenny Bailey, Josie Russell & Cicely Irwin fought a hard competition in their first year as seniors to come away in 7 th place with several new moves including a triple back in their routines. A fantastic result! Congratulations to all our gymnasts and their coach Mel for this wonderful achievement. September 2014 LEWIS WALKER & ISABELLA MONTAGNA CROWNED WORLD ACROBATIC CHAMPION Welcome back to a new term at Richmond Gymnastics Association by Salme Naylor, Director of Coaching. We hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready to get back into the new term. A big welcome to any new members and we hope you enjoy your first term with us. All the coaches are raring to go and there is a plethora of gymnastic opportunities for all age groups this Autumn term. Our recreational gymnasts have lots on this term. They will be working on the RICHMOND Award scheme badges, which focus on 3 areas within gymnastics- a floor routine, a rebound section and hand apparatus. Each child works at their own pace with their personal group coach to ensure they fully work through the developmental stages. The coaches will be double checking everyone s level at the start of term to make sure our records are correct. Satellite centre gymnasts need to look out for the new wedges, springboards and ribbons that have been bought using teddy bear money and some RGA equipment funding. These are shared out across the centres and the coaches will be incorporating the new equipment into their sessions. Gymnasts over the age of 7 years old will also be able to enter the club tumbling championships on Saturday 6 th December. This is a fantastic event which allows all our gymnasts to compete within the gym against those of the same age. Medals will be awarded to 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd and everyone will receive a participation certificate. Look out for the application form on our websitewww.richmondgymnastics.co.uk Most of our pre-school gymnasts will have moved to the next age group this term, which means many will now be independent. The pre-school team will be focusing on rolling and weight bearing this termusing the bars, ropes and specialist wedge matting. Look out for the new ribbon balls which will make a few appearances in lessons. Our competitive gymnasts have a number of competitions this term both Regionally and Internationally and in the next few weeks our tumblers will be trialling to get into the GB squad that competes in November at the World Championships, so good luck to them all. Check out the rest of the newsletter to find out how well the RGA Festival went, what Hub Club activities are on & the timetable for the term. Welcome Back! IN THIS ISSUE BG Hub Club Activities Read what RGA has been up to over the summer with our Hub Club events- more on page 2. RGA Festival- Best so far!
