1 PTA Fashion Show The PTA are hosting a Fashion Show (including clothes for children and ladies) on Wednesday 14 October from pm in the school hall. Tickets ( 3) are available from the school office. They are also hoping to recruit some of the children in school to model the clothing. Please see the attached documents for further information. School Harvest Festival Our Harvest Festival is taking place on Monday 5 October at 2 pm at the Methodist Church we hope you can join us in our celebration. Donations of food products would be very welcome and will go to the Bassetlaw Food Bank. If you are able to walk with your child s class please contact the class teacher. Many thanks. Charity Car Wash Misterton Fire Station are having a charity car wash on Saturday 3 October from Come along and have your car washed and have a cup of coffee while you are waiting (see attached poster). School menu There have been a couple of minor changes to the school menu this does not affect the main meals please see attached list version of menu. School Swimming Pool Our pool will be open to the public on Monday 25 October from per adult/child, 1 for under 5s, children under the age of 8 yrs must be accompanied by an adult. Misterton Horticultural Show Thank you to the 9 children who entered their geraniums into the Misterton Horticultural Show we would like to congratulate the competition winners for taking care of their plants. Devizes Clothing Collection Our next clothing collection will be on 6 November If you have any old clothes, paired shoes, handbags and books we would be very grateful if you could bring them in to school in plastic bags for this date this raises a small amount of money for school funds. Books should be placed in a separate plastic bag to the clothing etc. Un-named school uniform The school staff are unable to accept any responsibility for loss of un-named school uniform please ensure that all items of uniform including shoes, coats and PE kit are clearly named. School Milk If you have not already registered your child for school milk for this academic year you can do so by phoning Coolmilk on Milk is free of charge for under 5 s, however your child still needs to be registered with Coolmilk. 3 CLASS 6 NEWSLETTER Class 6 have hit the ground running this year and they can all be really pleased with their efforts so far. The children have been working on their Ancient Greece history project: locating key places and city states; designing Greek vases; and creating Greek memorabilia as part of a TASC project for our class museum. Any Ancient Greek items of interest from home would still very much be appreciated. I would also like to thanks all Class 6 children and parents for their FANTASTIC efforts towards the summer project of researching, preparing and analyzing some homemade Greek food. The presentations and instructional texts created by the children were outstanding. In Class 6 we have been studying newspapers and journalistic writing. We have found facts and opinions and the children have written their very own newspaper articles on some very outrageous and bizarre stories. They are now currently in the process of creating their own radio and TV news reports. We have also been drawing and carefully shading a range of 3D shapes, and will be soon drawing fruit and vegetables as part of a Harvest project. In the coming weeks the children will be working on their French too and they have created work based on their families. Also, Class 6 have been studying the circulatory system and been conducting experiments to check their pulse rates and how it changes during exercise and why.
