Challenge Event

Setting up your activity - Fundraisers checklist Thank you for deciding to supercharge ParalympicsGB! Your support is amazing and will help make the team the best that it can be for Rio 2016 and beyond. How to kick off your fundraising: Choose an activity. Do you want to put on a Supercharge quiz night, a bake sale with colleagues, superhero fancy dress with your friends or design your own fun event? Set a date Decide how your activity will raise funds. Will you be sponsored to take part in a challenge, or will people give you cash donations on the day? Look at our tips on collecting donations. You can create a fundraising page with MyDonate, or download our sponsorship form to collect your offline fundraising Read our tips for promoting your activity, and make sure you give people plenty of notice for them to get involved Download a supercharge poster to promote when and where your event will be taking place One size doesn t fit all with fundraising activities! Think about how you can appeal to both genders, different age groups, disabled and non-disabled supporters. If you are hosting an event, make sure that the venue is accessible for wheelchair users Have a wet weather plan! Will you be able to move your activity indoors? If not, make sure you have sensible clothing and equipment to keep you warm and dry Get crafty and make your own bunting, stickers, medals or certificates using our free easy-to-use templates to really supercharge your activity Take photos and videos as you go along. Share these with your supporters so they can see you in action, or share them with ParalympicsGB by tagging us in your social media posts. We d love to see what you re up to Say thank you. Once you have completed your activity make sure you update your supporters and let them know how it went. You might even inspire them to put on their own activity to supercharge ParalympicsGB

How to promote your event It s really important to let people know about your fundraising activity and how they can get involved whether you want them to bake a cake for your sale, sponsor you to take on a challenge, or take part in a fundraising activity at your school or workplace. How to promote your activity: Explain what the campaign is, and what it is for. Not everyone realises that we re a charity, so make sure you include the registered charity number (England/Wales) when you talk about Supercharge ParalympicsGB and the Tell people why you are involved in this campaign in particular, what inspired you to get involved, and why you chose your particular fundraising activity Write letters, s or text messages customised for your friends, family, workplace or club. Start the ball rolling with your most generous sponsors first other people might be tempted to match their donation, or even beat it! Download a Supercharge ParalympicsGB poster Speak to your company, school or club about ways that they can support your fundraising activity. Some places will be happy to help you promote your cause, or even match your fundraising total If you re putting on an event or taking on an unusual challenge, your local media might be able to help generate interest and spread the word more widely. You can adapt the sample press release below if you re not sure what to write, and send your story to your local newspaper (their contact details should be available on their website) Print some supercharge stickers and share them with everyone that fundraises with you Mention your activity on Facebook, Twitter or other social media, and remind your supporters when your activity is about to take place. You could also include a link to your fundraising page in your signature Say thank you! It s good to keep people posted with the results of your activity, and it might even persuade a few more people to make a donation when they see how well you ve done Your super selfie Why not upload a selfie of how you re supercharging ParalympicsGB; have you been training for a run or a cycling event, busy baking in the kitchen, organising a quiz night or planning your fancy dress day? Please tag ParalympicsGB so that we can see your super selfie, and we might even re-tweet some of our ParalympicsGB paralympicsgb_official

Public expectation on the team is higher than ever for Rio 2016, and our competition is always getting stronger. As a registered charity, we rely on the support of the public and our funding partners to help us make the team the best that it can be. 5 Notes to Editors About The The (registered charity number (England/Wales)) is the National Paralympic Committee for the UK, responsible for the promotion of the Paralympic movement in Great Britain and selecting, entering and funding the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Paralympic team, known as ParalympicsGB. The Team is selected and managed by the, in conjunction with the national governing bodies, and is made up of the best sportsmen and women who compete in the 22 summer and four winter sports on the Paralympic Programme. There is only one Paralympic team from Great Britain and Northern Ireland; ParalympicsGB. There is not a Paralympic swimming team or Paralympic tennis team. The individual sports join to become ParalympicsGB, the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Paralympic Team. We are proud of our tradition of outstanding performance at the Paralympic Games: ParalympicsGB finished second in the medal table at three consecutive summer Paralympic Games and won 120 medals at London The BPA would like to thank the National Lottery and our official partners adidas, Allianz, ASOS, BP, BT, Deloitte, EDF Energy, Hogan Lovells, Mondelēz International, Nissan and Sainsbury s for their support. More information can be found at To contact the Press Office at the, please press@paralympics.org.uk or call

How to fundraise and make a donation Setting up your own online fundraising page: You can set up your own fundraising page on MyDonate so that your friends, family and colleagues can support you with a secure online donation. MyDonate is free for charities to use as there are no set up, subscription or commission fees. People are more likely to donate if they know where their money is going! You can include the paragraph below on your page to tell people about ParalympicsGB and how their money can make an amazing difference: At London 2012 the incredible performances of our ParalympicsGB athletes inspired the nation. Four years on expectations for Rio 2016 are huge and the competition on the field of play is getting fiercer every day. Our athletes are training as hard as they can, but we need your help to do everything we can to maximise the team s success. You can supercharge the team to make the difference. The kind of difference that helps make a competitor a champion. We believe their success will inspire the nation, challenge perceptions and help create a better world for disabled people. Together let s make the team the very best it can be for Rio 2016 and beyond. Offline or one off donations: If you would rather collect donations offline you can use the sponsorship form template below or simply collect cash donations. 8 FUNDRAISING TO Thank you for helping us supercharge ParalympicsGB. We ve created this fundraising logo to help you promote your fundraising activity. How to use: This logo must only be used for fundraising purposes. It is important to let people know where the money you raise will go, so wherever you use this logo please also make sure you write the charity details: Supercharge ParalympicsGB is an initiative of the, registered Charity Number (England/Wales). This statement should be clearly visible on any materials promoting your fundraising activity. Great ways to use the fundraising logo: Within your workplace or school, for example on a poster letting people know about your activity On a product that you re selling privately to raise money to Supercharge ParalympicsGB, for example a bake sale at your community group, or a special promotion in the canteen at work To highlight your activity with customers or clients; for example a sign encouraging them to donate on the day of your sponsored silence or dress up day. Note that you shouldn t use fundraising to try and increase your sales or attract new customers With some breathing space around the logo, at least the height of the letter S in supercharge, and with a minimum total height of 35mm. We d suggest using on a plain background so that it stands out FUNDRAISING TO

FUNDRAISING TO What not to do: Please don t use fundraising to try to increase your sales or attract new customers The fundraising logo can t be used on any commercial products or special customer offers It also can t be used in an advert to promote your business or group; for example saying Company Name is generously fundraising to supercharge ParalympicsGB You should not in any instance imply that a business or group is an official partner or supplier of the, ParalympicsGB, or the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games Please do not modify the logo in any way. That means that you should not stretch, rotate, change the colour, add any special effects or separate the words in the logo If you d like any further advice about how and where you can use the fundraising logo, please contact us at fundraising@paralympics.org.uk. In particular please talk to us if you are planning to take costs out of the money you raise, or if you want to split your fundraising between us and another charity. There may be additional legal requirements that you need to be aware of.
