Recent initiatives of the Government in the past two years are expanding energy access to a wider section of the population in an affordable manner, for example rural electrification and push on PNG and LPG adoption. With the growth of rooftop solar, energy storage and bi-directional smart metering, electricity consumers of the future could also be energy sellers and traders. The future landscape of energy retailing in India could potentially look very different compared to the present.
