2 Dear Friends, The Child Advocates 2015 Superhero Run will be a remarkable day to make a difference for children in our community who have experienced abuse or neglect. Your participation in this event can help ensure that children have a home instead of feeling lost and are made a priority instead of feeling invisible. Have you ever wanted to be a superhero? Now is your chance. Our annual Superhero Run supports the representation of more than 5,000 children in Marion County, who are victims of abuse. 5 Mission Child Advocates engages community volunteers and staff to protect children who are victims of child abuse. We are their voices in court, ensuring all children thrive in a safe and secure home. About Us Child Advocates is the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) chosen by the courts in Marion County to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children. We fulfill our mission through advocacy, monitoring, evaluation, fact-finding and mediation. Volunteers assist staff professionals in each child s case to make sure those children do not get lost in the system, that their needs are met during the course of their court cases, and that a safe, permanent home is found for them as soon as possible. Our volunteers help ensure that the 5000 children whose cases we monitor each year are not returned to the very situations where the mistreatment occurred. We continue to work with the children until they are placed in a safe and secure home.
