The post holder s approved travel and other out-of-pocket associated costs will be reimbursed. 3 REPORTING The post holder reports directly to the Sales and Events Manager. PURPOSE OF THE POST The Assistant Sales and Events Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operational delivery of hospitality led events and the related Duty Management, on a rota with G Live s other nominated Duty Managers. The post contributes to the success of the venue, and the achievement of business and service targets, through the continued delivery of G Lives award winning standard of service and customer care. The post also supports the Sales and Events Manager and the Hospitality Team with administrative and operational support as required. ACCOUNTABILITIES Key Accountabilities of the Post are to: a) With the Sales and Events Manager, contribution as required to the achievement of G Live s annual business plan, with particular reference to the achievement of hospitality sales targets. b) Responsibility for the effective management of event staff and the operational delivery of G Live s hospitality led events. c) As part of a team of Duty Managers, deliver Duty Management requirements of the venue on a rota basis. d) Support the Sales and Events Manager in the development, implementation and monitoring of service standards, standard operating procedures and departmental administration. e) Responsibility for monitoring cash handling procedures and the banking and reconciliation of event income as required. f) In liaison with the Sales and Events Manager, development of hospitality initiatives promoting a broad range of hospitality led events. g) To work closely with the other departments as required and devise innovative packages and promotions. h) To represent G Live at trade shows and other events as required. i) To attend and positively contribute to operational meetings as required. j) To liaise with Front of House Management, Technical, Administration, Creative Learning and Ticketing staff as necessary, to ensure the smooth operation of all events. k) To identify and implement any new areas of business likely to enhance the profitability of the venue, with reference to the Sales and Events Manager and General Manager. l) To establish a visible and accessible management profile throughout the venue in order to foster good relations and to provide support, advice and assistance to all event clients.
4 m) To assist, as required, with the training and development of hospitality and other staff. n) To support the Facilities and Buildings Manager with maintenance of storage areas, building presentation and public facing areas. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The post holder will: a) Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with departmental and company Health & Safety procedures. b) Dress in accordance with Company uniform policy and wear protective clothing as issued, if applicable. c) Attend meetings as required. d) Undertake any relevant training and development that may be required and keep abreast of developments in his/her field of expertise. e) Carry out any other duties as required from time to time, taking into consideration the grade of the post and the capabilities of the post holder. f) This Job Description is current at the date shown above but in consultation between post holder and the Sales and events manager, may be subject to variation to reflect or anticipate changes in or to the job, so as to meet G Live s business needs. g) This post requires some evening, weekend and bank holiday working. 5 PERSON SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL A passion for delivering excellent customer services. Evidence of high-level organisational ability The ability to perform well as part of a team and take on a lead role in projects as required. Literacy, computer literacy and numeracy appropriate to the requirements of the Post. High level communication skills and an excellent manner when dealing with the public, stakeholders and industry colleagues An ability to be flexible to business needs and work calmly and effectively under pressure Ambition and drive with the ability to learn quickly. A pro-active and positive approach to solving problems in a prompt and independent manner. A good sense of humour desirable Available to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays as and when required. Knowledge of different room set ups and manual handling training. DESIRABLE Experience of managing or supervising teams of staff in hospitality areas. Experience of cash handling, banking and implementing cash handling procedures. Experience of managing consumable / perishable stock and delivering catering services within appropriate food hygiene legislation / best practice.
