Whatever your experience, whatever your skills volunteering at EIJ2016 is an opportunity of a lifetime. It is a chance to live amongst nearly 10,000 like-minded people in a tented village to deliver and experience a fantastic and unique Scouting and Guiding experience. 6 Role Description: Creche Team Member groups) Contacts Internal: Creche Team Leader Children in crèche aged 0 10 yrs (4 different age Creche Team Leaders Daytime Programme Team Support Services Manager Job Summary: To work as a part of the creche team, to deliver a programme of activities throughout the Jamboree event period, for children in the 0 10 yrs. Main Activities: Work as part of a team, liaising with Creche Manager and Creche Team leaders in delivering an activity programme for the event, for the relevant age group. Work within an agreed budget Help to source the required equipment to deliver the activities. Ensure that there is effective liaison and good working relationships, with other Teams where necessary. To attend meetings and events as appropriate To support and encourage the training of team personnel to fulfil their role. To attend the Jamboree and be available, if possible, from Friday 29 July to Saturday 6 August 2106, both dates inclusive. Have fun! Person Specification: Relevant skills, experience and if possible qualifications, including any First Aid or Catering qualifications. (Qualifications are not a necessity but experience would be useful). Have good interpersonal skills. Have a sense of humour! Be able to work as part of a team. Be able to attend evening and weekend meetings and activities. Be able to utilise electronic communication.

7 Role Description/Specification: Junior Jam Team Member Contacts Internal: Junior Jam Team Leader and Support Services HOD Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers and Cubs visiting the Jamboree with their Units/Groups, for a day s Jamboree experience. Creche Team Leaders Daytime Programme Team Support Services Manager Job Summary: To work as a part of the Junior Jam team, to ensure smooth running of the Junior Jam Days for Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers and Cubs who come with their Unit/Group and their Leaders. The Junior Jam days are only on Sunday 31 July and Monday 1 August. (You can work as part of another team (as agreed by all relevant parties), should you wish to stay all week). Main Activities: Work as part of a team, liaising with Junior Jam Team Leader and Creche Team Leaders in ensuring a smooth delivering of the Junior Jam experience. Help to source the required equipment to deliver the activities (where necessary). Ensure that there is effective liaison and good working relationships, with other Teams where necessary. To attend meetings and events as appropriate To support and encourage the training of team personnel to fulfil their role. To attend the Jamboree and be available, as a minimum, from Saturday 30 July to Tuesday 2 August, both dates inclusive. Have fun! Person Specification: Have good interpersonal skills. 8 Role Description - Subcamp Team Member Subcamp Team Leader To work as part of a Sub Camp team to deliver a consistent and fantastic Jamboree experience for participants at the Jamboree. To undertake general duties as required by managers in the Sub Camp Team Job summary Ensure that the attendees receive a similar experience regardless of which Subcamp they are resident To work with members from other Subcamps To support allocated participant units and visit them every day To work on the helpdesk as and when required To share participant feedback with the team, to ensure that we are acting on it and helping as much as we can Work within the requirements of the Jamboree Finance and Health & Safety Regulations. Help to source the required equipment to deliver the effective operation of a Subcamp Ensure that there is effective liaison with other Subcamp Teams To attend meetings and events as appropriate Any other duty as agreed with the Subcamp Team

9 Role Description - Subcamp Helpdesk Manager Subcamp Team Leader Provision of a subcamp Helpdesk and Information point Job summary To establish a subcamp information centre (single point of contact) and provide support for contingents, participants, leaders and staff To react to health & safety, welfare, emergency and security issues with appropriate responses Main Activities Ensure that your participant leaders know your role and the support provided Fully responsible for the smooth management of the Helpdesk To attend meetings and events as appropriate Ensure that there is rota in place for core hours (7:30am to 10:00pm) and a system for overnight cover To ensure an on call support provision is available when the helpdesk is closed To push information out to contingents to reduce enquiries To provide information to participants on local facilities and transport To maintain a helpdesk handover log book so that knowledge is transferred between shifts Ensure a duty rota is implemented for all team members and roles Plan and manage the registration of participants at arrival and their departure Work within the requirements of the Jamboree Finance and Health & Safety Regulations You may need to take on other activities and tasks as agreed with your Subcamp Leader

10 Role Description - Subcamp Finance Officer Subcamp Team Leader Assisting the Sub Camp Leader with finance operations Job summary Responsible for maintaining the Subcamp budget Record and track all income and expenditure Keep the Subcamp to budget Main Activities Assisting the Subcamp Leader with the budget and allocation of expenditure Attend meetings and events as appropriate Cash counting and reconciliations Liaison with the Subcamp finance manager Office duties as required during the event To regularly report to the Subcamps Finance Manager Work within the requirements of the Jamboree Finance and Health & Safety Regulations You may need to take on other activities and tasks as agreed with your Subcamp Leader

11 Role Description - Subcamp Communications Manager Subcamp Team Leader Organise and manage the provision of communication between the Subcamp and the participants before, during and after the event. Be fully responsible for the Subcamp communications, including the website page. Job summary To ensure the Subcamp web pages are regularly updated and informative for the participants To collect and collate suitable stories from within the Subcamp for the daily EIJ newspaper using multiplatform material (photos, videos, sound bites) To compile and create the Subcamp newsletters before the Jamboree Main Activities To capture multiplatform material, such as photos videos, sound bites, throughout the event To assist young people in capturing their stories through video, written content and sound bites, thus sharing and demonstrating new skills to young people. To add captured stories and material to the Communications article system To ensure sufficient articles are delivered to the newspaper team every day for your dedicated Subcamp To coordinate the use of on-subcamp communications, eg noticeboards, posters To help source the required equipment, (eg ipad/tablet, smartphone, netbook) To ensure that there is effective liaison with other Subcamp Communications Managers and the Jamboree Media Teams To attend meetings and events as appropriate To ensure the liaison and sharing of information between Subcamps before and during the event To coordinate the delivery of the daily newspaper to contingents with your Subcamp team To coordinate daily visits from your team members to contingents in your Subcamp It is anticipated that full training will be provided by the Media Team at the Essex Weekend at Skreens Park 15 th /16 th May 2016.

12 Role Description - Subcamp Facilities Manager Subcamp Team Leader Ensuring the camping areas and facilities within the Subcamp are working effectively and to oversee the security and safety of the Subcamp. Job summary Work with the site services team and other managers in the Subcamp team to plan the Subcamp Ensure the provision of utilities required on site Establish a proactive Subcamp safety system which meets the requirements of the Jamboree Health & Safety Regulations Ensure the provision of a safe and secure Subcamp environment for all staff and participants (young people and leaders) Main Activities Source the required equipment to deliver the effective operation of a Subcamp Ensure that there is effective liaison with other Subcamps Attend meetings and events as appropriate Plan and manage the allocation of space on the Subcamp for each contingent Manage the allocation and operation of Subcamp radios Coordinate and manage the production of Risk Assessments for the Subcamp Work within an agreed budget Work within the requirements of the Jamboree Finance and Health & Safety Regulations You may need to take on other activities and tasks as agreed with your Subcamp Leader

13 Role Description - Subcamp Programme Assistant Manager Subcamp Team Leader and Subcamp Programme Delivery of Subcamp Programme and provision of opportunities to access the wider Jamboree Programme. Job summary To ensure that all young people on the Subcamp are encouraged to participate fully in the Jamboree Programme and to plan and manage the Early Evening programme for your subcamp. Organise additional activities as appropriate. Main Activities Manage the execution of the Early Evening programme as provided by Programme Directorate Allocate roles and responsibilities to the Subcamp team to ensure that the Early Evening programme runs smoothly Work closely with the other Subcamp Programme Assistants and share feedback from the Early Evening programme during the week (supporting continuous improvement) Provide the contingents with updates on the daytime programme Organise and prepare activities on the Subcamp as required (for example Subcamp Challenge) Be fully up to date with the programme (what is happening when etc) Share participant feedback with the programme directorate directly Work within an agreed budget To attend meetings and events as appropriate Work within the requirements of the Jamboree Finance and Health & Safety Regulations You may need to take on other activities and tasks as agreed with your Subcamp Leader

14 Role Description - Subcamp International Contingent Support Subcamp Team Leader Providing support to international contingents Job summary To establish daily contact with international contingent leaders, ensuring the support needs of each contingent are met. Main Activities Ensure that there is effective liaison with other Subcamp teams Work with the international Contingent Support in other subcamps. To attend and host meetings and events as appropriate To establish effective working relationship with the International department. To support the International Team at the start and finish of the jamboree as and when required to ensure our international visitors are well looked after To ensure that all international contingents on the Subcamp are being encourage to participate fully in the Jamboree Programme Work within the requirements of the Jamboree Finance and Health & Safety Regulations You may need to take on other activities and tasks as agreed with your Subcamp Leader

15 Role Description - Subcamp Contingent Support Manager Subcamp Team Leader and Subcamp Programme Providing support to all contingents Job summary To establish daily contact with contingent leaders, ensuring the support needs of each contingent are met. Main Activities Ensure that there is effective liaison with other Subcamp teams Work with the Contingent Support in other Subcamps Put in place a buddy system for the entire Subcamp team so that each member is allocated to a participant group Establish a schedule for site/group visits throughout the week Attend and host meetings and events as appropriate Establish effective working relationship with the International department and international contingent support Plan and manage for the arrival and departure of contingents and ensure all team members are aware of their responsibilities on arrival and departure days Ensure that all contingents on the Subcamp are being encouraged to participate fully in the Jamboree Programme Work within the requirements of the Jamboree Finance and Health & Safety Regulation You may need to take on other activities and tasks as agreed with your Subcamp Leader

16 Role Description/Specification - Over 18s Bar Team Member Job Summary: Bar Manager Bar area To deliver the provision of the onsite Jamboree Bar. To help ensure that all needs are met and provide all staff with a positive experience, place to relax and enjoy their Jamboree Experience Main Activities: Work under the management of the Bar manager Work an agreed number of hours over the Jamboree week Work the agreed shift times Duties include; Serving alcohol and soft drinks, Checking wristbands for age of people in the bar, Ensuring the bar is clean and presentable, Manage waste and Clearing down after closing and assisting with bar entertainments Adhere to the Hygiene standards in place (ie.clothing, Hair tied back and Hand Washing) Be willing to undergo training where required Be involved with the theming and decorating of staff hub Be flexible with duties required Potentially work in other areas of the Staff hub To attend meetings and events as appropriate Any other duty as agreed with the Bar Manager To attend the Jamboree Have fun! Person Specification: Have good interpersonal skills. 17 Role Description/Specification - Staff Subcamp Help Desk Team Member Job Summary: Help Desk Manager Help Desk To deliver the provision of the Staff Help Desk. To help ensure that all needs are met, staff are aware of everything on offer to them over the Jamboree and contribute to providing them with a positive, relaxing and fulfilling experience Main Activities: Work under the management of the Help Desk Manager Work an agreed number of hours over the Jamboree week Work the agreed shift times Duties include; Covering the Help Desk between agreed hours, be available to answer questions and queries staff have, advertise entertainments and activities on offer to staff, maintain up to date information on Staff team, be involved with the registration of staff and being responsible for the morning newspapers Show good customer service skills and skills to deal with complaints Be willing to undergo training where required Be involved with the theming and decorating of staff hub Be flexible with duties required Potentially work in other areas of the Staff hub To attend meetings and events as appropriate Any other duty as agreed with the Help Desk Manager To attend the Jamboree Have fun!
