4 The New Italian Design is a traveling exhibition, presented for the first time at the Triennale di Milano in 2007 and then in Madrid (2007), Istanbul (2010), Beijing and Nantou (2012), Bilbao, San Francisco and Santiago, Chile (2013). The exhibition is the result of a survey on a national scale. Roughly 600 designers entered the database, of which 140 were invited. The others presented themselves as candidates. The New Italian Design is a rich and multifaceted overview on contemporary Italian design with 288 projects by 133 Italian designers. The exhibited works range from selfproduced prototypes to large-series products, from works of art to industrial artifacts. This exhibition gives an overview of contemporary Italian design in order to open the discussion about the profession and the role of the contemporary designer. It s aim is to create a bridge between Italy and South Africa to share experiences and knowledge. an occasion to start new collaborations! The exhibition will be held in Cape Town from the 5 th to the 25 th of October, at the Lookout, V&A Waterfront. 5 COSMOPROF Worldwide Bologna s international platform continues its worldwide journey around the beauty sector s major markets. The figures from the 2014 edition of COSMOPROF confirm its role as an ideal window into the development of the global cosmetics industry: 207,238 visitors, including 59,319 from abroad, 2,450 exhibitors from 69 countries around the world and almost 2,000 meetings organized between exhibiting companies and the 400 top international buyers from Europe, South-East Asia, South America, the USA, Canada, the UAE, Iraq, Russia and South Africa. This network of international contacts and the strong partnerships developed from one edition to the next have given rise to the COSMOPROF Road Show project. The next stop, on the 9 th of October will be in Johannesburg, South Africa, as a result of COSMOPROF s partnership with the Italian - South African Chamber of Commerce and the Cosmetic Export Council of South Africa CECOSA. South Africa, and indeed the entire African continent, will be taking on a significant role in the next edition of COSMOPROF. The International Buyer Program will include buyers from rapidly expanding African markets, apart from South Africa, which haven t played a major part in the global economy, but have strong potential for growth. A new area will also be dedicated to products made by African companies. This will offer a unique opportunity for visibility and for doing business with professional operators from the beauty sector in Europe, Asia and America. 6 La Camera di Commercio Italo Sudafricana continua ad aderire alle iniziative promosse da Unioncamere all'interno del Fondo Intercamerale. L'ultimo progetto realizzato è "Le 5 terre colorate di Sud Africa" con la collaborazione della Camera di Commercio di La Spezia. Una delegazione Sudafricana del settore nautico si recherà a La Spezia dal 7 al 10 Ottobre per partecipare alla prossima edizione di Seafuture. Il Seafuture è organizzato, con la collaborazione della Marina Militare, all interno della base navale di La Spezia. L evento e focalizzato sul settore della nautica, sulla cantieristica navale, sulle tecnologie marine e, da quest anno, sulla marina militare. Il focus riguardante i mercati internazionali sará posto per l edizione 2014 su Sud Africa, Turchia, India, Brasile, Algeria, Tunisia e Nord Europa. All evento saranno presenti numerose aziende provenienti dai paesi elencati, le quali mostreranno i loro prodotti e l avanzamento delle tecnologie del settore nei loro mercati. The Italian - South African Chamber of Trade and Industries makes a continued effotrt to join initiatives promoted by Unioncamere, the latest project being The five coloured lands of South Africa with the cooperation of La Spezia Chamber of Commerce. A South African delegation from the nautical sector will visit La Spezia from the 7th to the 10th of October, in order to participate in the next Seafuture Exhibition. Seafuture is organized with the cooperation of the Italian Navy, inside the military navy base of La Spezia. The event is focused on the nautical sector, marine technologies, and from this year, military marine. In this 2014 edition the international focus will be on South Africa, Turkey, India, Brazil, Algeria, Tunisia and North Europe. Several companies from the listed countries will participate in the exhibition and will show their production and technology and news of the sector from their markets. 7 The Embassy of Mexico in South Africa and ProMexico (a trust fund of the Mexican Government that promotes international trade and investments), organize a Business Seminar that will take place on October the 17 th. The key argument of discussion will be Regional Value Chains between NAFTA and South Africa, giving to participants an overview of the actual business environment and analyzing the opportunities not yet used. The main speakers will be: Mr. Jose Antonio Meade (Mexican Foreign Secretary) Francisco Gonzalez (CEO of ProMexico) Attending delegates will also have the opportunity to have a one-on-one b2b meeting with the representatives from ProMexico who will give more insight into the Mexican market and different investment options in NAFTA at large. 8 Thanks to the partnership between Italian - South African Chamber of Trade and Industries and Montgomery Specialised Exhibitions, the 6th of November 2014 the Marchio Ospitalita` Italiana Awards will be hosted by the Montgomery`s event IFEA international food and drink. IFEA s International authority in the promotion of food and drink products in the world is showed by the results of the last year visitors from 43 different countries, 108 exhibitors company from 18 different countries, for a result of 7 international stands. Awarding the Marchio Ospitalita` Italiana at IFEA, the made in Italy brand can further confirm its excellence in the world. Marchio Ospitalita` Italiana was born in 2009 for the safeguarding of Italian quality standards from "Italian sounding" restaurants, which the MOI successfully does by promoting the use of IGP/DOP products which further guarantees and defends the Made in Italy brand from Italian mimics. To date, the MOI project has certified 1650 restaurants with Marchio Ospitalita` Italiana in 53 countries in the world, selected on over 2900 applications. In order to award the certificate, restaurants need to fulfill 10 criteria on which MOI bases it's excellence : identity and individuality, welcome, mise en place, cookery, menu, culinary proposal, wine list, extra virgin olive oil, experience and expertise and DOP and IGP products. This partnership between Italian south African Chamber of Commerce and Montgomery, can give a double result : - The protection of Italian products and Italian manufacturing; - The protection of the consumer eating in restaurants with the MOI certification, is sure to eat food products with high and certified quality.
