2 C O M P A N Y P R O F I L E Since 1918 In 1918 Giacomo Valsecchi, the grandaddy of present owners, starts activity in Calolziocorte (Lc) with the enrollment in the Chamber of Commerce of Bergamo as wood turning of file handles, also producing accessories for the textile industry The company starts to produce wooden toys, and soon conquers the Italian market Valsecchi E.M.G was created by Giacomo and his sons Mario e Giovanni, it develops relations with Gdo and starts to exhibit its products at Milan s first trade shows, acquiring important customers such as the Standa Department Stores, and starts exporting throughout the world The coming of plastic material marks the decline of wood toy, the firm turns itself and starts the production of clothes hangers and racks and household accessories in wood. With passion and professional skills, it carefully follows all phases of the creation process of the various products: from the design to the choice of raw materials, from the initial processing steps to the assembly of the various components, from the painting phase to the packing phase, from warehouse storage to distribution on the market. In 2004, in order to move closer to the sources of raw materials, the company purchased a lumber mill in Romania which uses wood coming from environmentally certified forests, as a guarantee of the commitment made to the ecology issue and to the safeguard of the environment.

4 C O M P A N Y P R O F I L E In 2005 the production activity was expanded with a plant in Chieuti (Fg), equipped with highly-automated machinery and installations specialized in the production of panels in melamine-surfaced wood agglomerate for wardrobes, kitchen furniture and containers in general. Closely related to Valsecchi S.p.a. are the activities of Valsì S.r.l, also owned by the Valsecchi family, a leader in the do-it-yourself sector and specialized in the production of wall shelves and furniture, with a production plant located in Bonate Sotto (Bg). Currently the Group employs about 150 workers, and has at its disposal an area of 125,000 square meters, 28,000 of which covered. Valsecchi S.p.a obtained the certification of conformity to the UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 standard for the quality, design and manufacturing system of household articles made in wood.

5 C O M P A N Y P R O F I L E Valsecchi spa has shown since its creation, a particular care towards environmental issues. During 2006 Valsecchi obtained the FSC certification, which guarantees the use of wood coming from forests properly managed from an environmental, social and economic point of view. In 2010 Valsecchi S.p.a decides to take a further step towards eco-sustainability through the installation of a photovoltaic system, that completely covers all the structures. By the project of the qualified Sun System Spa company, the old Eternit roof has been replaced with an elevated thermal insulation covering, that will lead the building towards the autonomy of energy savings.

6 C E R T I F I C A T I O N S UNI EN ISO QUALITY CERTIFICATION The certification has been issued by ICILA, the institution that specifically certifies the wood and furniture sectors. The Quality Certification proves that the company is reliable and managed according to principles that aim to satisfy the client s needs. To obtain the client s appreciation and trust, and to improve the company s profits, we have created a Quality Management System which ensures the presence of a real coordination of the communication flow between the various sections and a strict control over all the company s processes. FSC CERTIFICATION Valsecchi S.p.a. has demonstrated its commitment towards the environment by obtaining, in 2006 the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification. This organisation s goal is to promote throughout the world an economically valid management of forests and plantations, that protects both the environment as well as the local people. The FSC symbol assures the consumer that the timber utilised in the manufacturing of the product fulfil high standards of safeguard of the forest s environmental, social and economic characteristics.

These tests are carried out by two Certifying Institutions, CATAS and TÜV: CATAS: Research and development centre and test lab in the wood furniture sector created in 1969 to further the technological development of Italian wood and furniture companies. TÜV: International institution for the evaluation and verification of products. It documents the safety and quality of the products as well as the company s management systems.
