1 The Project: You will create a photo album, using real pictures. You will write a caption for each photo in Spanish, describing the people and activities in the photo. To complete this project, you will need to use to vocabulary, grammar, and skills that we have learned this year. Requirements: The album must be entirely in Spanish. You need at least 6 pictures inside the album. These pictures should show you and people you know engaged in a variety of activities. Your album should have a decorated cover with a Spanish title. Suggestions for titles: Mis amigos y yo; Mi familia y yo; Mi album de fotos Captions: For each picture, you need to give the following information: Who is in the picture, what the people are doing, and where o Mi amiga Laura juega al volibol en la playa. You also need to choose at least 2 of the following for each photo: What the weather is like Hace sol y hace calor. A description of the person What this person likes When the picture was taken How old the person is Ella es baja y cómica. Le gustan mucho los deportes. Es el cuatro de julio. Tiene catorce años. Any other sentence that describes the picture (as long as it s correct!)

2 Timeline: 1 mayo: Project assigned 1 mayo-11 mayo: (at home) Students gather photos and materials. Begin writing captions. 11 mayo: Photos due. In-class workshop on writing captions. viernes, 1 mayo: Rough draft of captions due. Not much time spent on album, boring design with no color, album is sloppy and/or hard to read.

3 Tips, Advice, and Reminders: You may use traditional photographs, photocopies, or computer printouts. If you are using an actual photograph, ask your parents permission before using any family photos in the album. They may not want their only picture of Great-Uncle John glued to construction paper and brought to school. Select photos that you know you can describe in Spanish. If the story behind a particular photo is too long and complicated, it s probably not a good choice. Keep in mind the vocabulary that you already know. You can always look up a new word or two, but you don t want to have to look up the entire caption. Choose photos that show people doing things. Avoid pictures of people just standing and looking at the camera. Find interesting photos. Watch your verb and adjective agreement! Remember to make adjectives feminine or plural if you need to. Remember to conjugate the verb to match who you re talking about. Remember the difference between gusta and gustan. The album is your chance to show what you have learned in Spanish this year; therefore, it should be written entirely by you. Do not use a computer to translate your sentences they will not come out correctly. A student who uses a computer translation will have to rewrite the project themselves or take a failing grade. You do not have to spend money to make this album. I ve seen lovely albums made just with white paper and markers. Use what you have and be creative!
