3 12-14 September, 2014 Hajdúszoboszló, Hungary Invitation Dear Friends, It is my pleasure to confirm that we can organise the Eastern European Hand Course in Hajduszoboszlo this year again. The main reason for our decision was the enormous success registered 2 years ago and the high number of s and inquiries regarding this future event. With the valuable support of FESSH free participation of 20 Eastern European hand surgeons are available again. Furthermore we can offer a registration fee of 300 euro per person just like two years ago. I believe that this fee for a 3 days course including not only lectures but cadaver demonstrations and European Diploma Examination workshop is an acceptable one, taking into consideration that a high quality service and affordable room rates are also guaranteed. The initially planned rheumatoid hand topic was postponed to next year and replaced with a very interesting topic: Tips and Tricks in Hand Surgery. Lectures cover a large scale of different interesting conditions from the simplest to the most complex ones. Lectures are presented in a very interactive way, using an onsite ARS voting system. Debates and case based discussions are need to be the active participation of the participants. I am convinced that this type of interactive discussion is very useful in our Eastern European area where sometimes theoretical knowledge is rather good but practice is missing. The cadaver demonstrations are focused again on How I do this operation. Masters of hand surgery will present their way of doing, their tips and tricks to the participants. The Course lectures will be held on Friday afternoon and Sunday morning till early afternoon. Saturday will be reserved for the cadaver demonstrations. The Course will finish with an European Diploma Examination workshop where 15 MCQ questions with 75 possible answers are going to be presented from the European Diploma MCQ database offering the possibility for everybody to check his knowledge confidentially, as a self evaluation and a public discussion of the questions and answers is planned. FESSH and the local organizers are convinced that this educational event is giving a good possibility to hand surgeons from Eastern Europe who wish to improve their knowledge and to meet friends. 9 12-14 September, 2014 Hajdúszoboszló, Hungary About Hajdúszoboszló Hajdúszoboszló is the most well known bath-city of the Hungarian Great Plain its main attraction its bathing complex with its famous spa, open-air bath, Aquapark and the Aqua-Palace. The bathing complex offers unforgettable adventures throughout the year to its recuperating and recreating guests and to families of any size. The curing water In the beginning the town had no idea what they could to with the large quantity of water that came to the surface continuously. However, the opportunity of utilising the water was soon recognised through the experiences of he local people, since the men bathed in the water, the women started to wash clothes in it, and they experienced the beneficiary effect of the water through these activities. The news of the curing water spread fast both in the neighbourhood and in the country. This raised the interest of the experts as well, and soon a long line of analyses started. As a result of these analyses the scientific opinion also supported that the water of Hajdúszoboszló has a curing effect. This led to the decision of building the bath. The city became a health resort of international reputation as a result of the proven curing effect and the continuous developments. The tourist offers of the bath and of the city are continuously adjusted to the evolving trends, and they are merged with traditional therapeutic procedures. The spa, a treasure that was deposited during millions of year from the ancient Pannon Sea is one the heritages of Hajdúszoboszló. This long lasting treasure has been serving the city for decades. Thanks to its unique mineral and trace element content the spa of Hajdúszoboszló may be applied widely in the area of preventing and curing health problems.
