3 HISTORIE WORLD CUP IN NEDERLAND 2003; Koos Hendriks (CEO SnowWorld) wants to organize a World Cup Parallel Slalom Snowboard in Landgraaf. Everyone laughed, national as well as international: A winter sports competition under a roof? An official World Cup? Nevertheless Hendriks succeeded in his mission 2010; seven years and seven succesful World Cups later The World Cup in Landgraaf participated in the successes of Nicolien Sauerbreij, and snowboarding as a sport in the Netherlands. The golden medal of Nicolien Sauerbreij, at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, being the first Dutch medal on snow ever is the absolute highlite! Personal highlite for Nicolien Sauerbreij in Landgraaf: 3rd place in 2007 and Nicolien has won numerous competitions. Winner overall world cup snowboard and winner overal world cup parallel slalom snowboard in Olympic gold in the parallel slalom (Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics) also being, the 100th Dutch Olympic golden medal overall. April 2010 again overall world cup parallel slalom snowboard champion. By organizing World Cups in Landgraaf, SnowWorld gained international acknowledgement as a top sports location. Therefore international training teams (Italian World Cup Ski Team, Swiss World Cup Ski Team, and many more) visit Landgraaf during sommer months, for their training. Every summer, over 2500 national and international athletes visit the dome for training. By opening a hotel**** in 2008, the winter sports village was completed. On October 10th the 8th World Cup will take place. The Dutch Ski Federation and SnowWorld guarantee a well organized competition with numerous sponsoring and hospitality packages. Mass media is guaranteed. Partly through the international successes of Nicolien Sauerbreij, the NOS (biggest Dutch Sports Program) will stream an extensive live report. Print media (national newspapers) are also always present at the World Cup. Internationaly, this World Cup is broadcasted in app. 130 countries. 23 Starting BIb s All contestants start wearing a starting bib. The bib is worn over the snowboard outfit. 120 Contestants are expected. The starting bib takes a prominent place on tv and in print media.
