1 24 th March 2016 Principal s Report As the newsletter this week is very brief, I d like to ask you to save the date for Saturday 30 th April when the School Association will be hosting a SafetyCircle session from 9.00 until 1.00pm followed at 1.30 pm by the Annual General meeting (in the Junior Campus Gym). Child care will be provided by staff at the school to enable parents and carers to attend this great event. In the next few days a form will be sent home for signing for those parents who would like to attend and take advantage of child care on the day. The SafetyCircle Program is a health, wellbeing and safety program aimed at supporting our most important asset at our school, our people! All of the staff at our school have undertaken the SafetyCircle program and now thanks to the financial support of the School Association, parents will now have the opportunity to learn about this great program. Please take advantage of this opportunity to attend this session, everyone is welcome. For more information please visit the following web page In relation to our School Association, all positions on the Executive of the Association are vacant and nominations are being sought for Chair, Deputy Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer as well as general parent and community representatives. I would strongly encourage anyone who wishes to make a contribution to our vibrant school community to nominate yourselves or alternatively nominate someone you know who could contribute. With a strong, articulate and cohesive School Association we can achieve many positive outcomes most of which directly support teaching and learning and ultimately each and every student in our school community. In upcoming newsletters, a brief descriptor of each of the Executive positions will be provided to increase your understanding of what each of the roles entails. A nomination form will be sent home in your son or daughter s home school communication book and more forms are available at the school office or via upon request. I strongly encourage you to please consider how you can contribute to your School Association by attending the AGM (held after the Safety Circle parent session childcare available) and nominating to undertake a position. To conclude, it s hard to believe that Easter is here already and we are close to the end of term one. As you are aware it s been a busy term for our whole school full of activity with numerous highlights. As Easter approaches please take the opportunity to enjoy a short break with family before returning the remaining week and a half of term 1. The School Association sponsored this program and all staff took part in sessions at the commencement of the school year and reports and feedback have been positive. The facilitators of the program are holding a session for Parents to attend, so we can all be aware of what the program is about and how it benefits our children s teachers, support workers and staff at school. All staff were so impressed with the training, that they have offered to support parents by having child-minding available, so more parents may be able to come. Southern Hero K9: Hero has settled in to school life extremely well and is now 13 weeks old. We are currently in the process of organizing a Doggy Jacket for hero to wear when out and about, as she is starting to be identified within the community. This is very exciting! As a School Association, we are very excited to be Major sponsors and supporters of Hero, along with Tascare Society for Children. 4 Easter Raffle: A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Easter Raffle by donating Easter Eggs for prizes and/or purchasing tickets. Amazingly, we had enough Eggs and other Easter toys/items to have 10 prizes!! Thank you to Elaine Watson and Nicole Gates who, along with the help of school staff, put together the raffle books and prizes for the Easter Raffle. Congratulations to all the 10 winners! For new families to the school, please note we have a Facebook page for the School Association. Like us and share this page with anyone you know may be new to the school. We will be sharing and communicating information and events with you, through this page, as the school year progresses. School Association Annual General Meeting (AGM): The AGM will be held after the Safety Circle Session on Saturday 30th April (child care will be available on this day). The office staff will no longer be handling uniform supplies. The School Association will now be fulfilling all uniform orders on a Wednesday morning. If you have a uniform order, please send the money with the order in your child s Communication Diary and your order will be sent home on a Wednesday.
