On the next page we talk about the support that you can expect from us, but before you read on think about you and if you are ready to take the next steps. 3 welcome to oven rescue group and mike harris the story so far: In 2008/9 having worked as a company director for only two companies in the last 20 years I was made redundant twice in one year. I always wanted to be my own boss and take control of my destiny and after feeling let down by the companies I worked for it was time to make a big change and start my own business. My wife and I took a short break in the sun to decide what the best business model would be to develop and put into action. With a feeling of excitement and trepidation the idea was forming. why oven cleaning? a question frequently asked, but why not? Whilst on our short break I was presented with a great idea and opportunity. Chatting to a chap on the first tee of the golf course, which continued for the next 18 holes, it transpired, my golfing buddy had sold an oven cleaning business and retired to Spain. I could see this as being a great opportunity. After a massive amount of research and the positive response from friends and family, the concept for Oven Rescue Group was born and my own patch would be first, Oven Rescue Sussex. I flew my new golfing buddy and oven valeting mentor back to England to share his wisdom and experience with me. Mike Harris, MD I started my intensive training and also acquired the company name, van and livery, equipment, work-wear, business cards and leaflets - the list was endless. From day one, my marketing plan was spent walking the streets delivering leaflets in every household and calling on home letting and estate agents. The opportunities are endless. Within two hours of delivering leaflets my mobile rang. The first appointment booked in! Within one month I was averaging two oven cleans per day. In the first year this has now averaged to four per day and a 90% client re-book rate. This prospectus has been created to help you understand how we will now franchise this business across the UK. 4 a day in the life at oven rescue no one day is the same, which is great! i have 3 key targets to achieve every day: 1. Existing clients. Ensure I stick to best practice and that every client is really happy with the service I offer and is more than happy to recommend me to their friends, family and neighbours and re book for their next clean. 2. New clients. Leaflet drops, follow up referrals, and advertise for future success. 3. Manage the DAY. Closing the day, ensuring all enquires and paper work is completed before I put my feet up and get ready for the next day s business. so, what I do I believe that first impressions are key, so I ensure that I am on time and that the van and my appearance is clean, smart and professional. I always take time to introduce myself, explain the process to every client to reassure them that I will carry out a professional valet service with no interruption or inconvenience to them. I try to book the first clean for 8.30am but it s up to you, you may want to book early evening appointments. Every appointment is a new experience/challenge as there are so many different ovens on the market, which are in different states of cleanliness. I get a great deal of excitement by bringing every oven back to a nearly new standard. I also meet so many different people every day, from all walks of life and it really is a diverse and exciting way to spend the day. 4.

5 who are we looking for and who would be ideal? our ideal franchisee would have the following essential and preferred personality traits. However, we know that life is not like that, so we will be looking for people who can demonstrate many of these attributes. 6 our oven franchisees oven rescue kent case study Oven Rescue Kent has now been up and running for six months. The father and son team of John and Rob Wells make the following comments:- I initially made contact with Mike Harris last spring after spending a month trawling the franchise sites for an opportunity that would fit the ambitions of myself and son Rob. I was looking for to change of my office lifestyle and the opportunity to establish a business which there is a continual ongoing call and demand for. The start up fees are very reasonable, covering training, kitting out your van with the appropriate tools, cleaning materials and sign writing. Advertising material is also included, along with phone set ups and office software to run the business side. So without breaking the bank you can be up and running in a short space of time. Unlike other operators Mike is also very fair and upfront with suppliers, he seeks no additional charges when replacing your depleted stocks. Any problems and Mike is always there to offer advice, support and guidance. You quickly feel at home with your new business. Six months on and we have built a good client base that is increasing month on month, mainly domestic ovens, although we are also starting to attract a number of commercial clients. The future looks bright as our client base increases, our many satisfied customers are committed to service they can trust and offers good value for money, which is so important in these difficult times. The repeat business proves this as we start to return to customers who are very complimentary about the services we provide at Oven Rescue Kent. 12 our oven franchisees oven rescue surrey case study At 53 years old, I was made redundant. I had some time to look around for a new opportunity and I wanted to be my own boss. I felt the way forward was Franchising, with its proven business formula, on going support and a far higher chance of success than setting up your own business. I made a list of requirements that suited my needs. No premises, no employees, a business that was based indoors (British weather can easily restrict potential earnings!). The list was soon narrowed down to an oven cleaning franchise. After looking at a few franchises, I met Mike Harris of Oven Rescue Group. Mike answered all my questions and his passion for the business soon came across. Mike set me up with everything I needed, from kitting out the van to stationery. He helped with advertising and answered any queries promptly. The vans are sign written and stand out well. Having a landline number as well as a mobile has been a great help to my business, as people like to deal with a local tradesman. Mike also encourages you to contact other Oven Rescue franchisees to discuss aspects of the business, another area of support. The leaflets Mike has produced are of a high standard and I have had quite a few jobs as a result. The training was great. Mike has a no nonsense approach, cleaning ovens from day one. At first it was a bit daunting but after three days it all fell into place. There is no substitute for going into people s homes and cleaning a variety of ovens and interacting with the customers, which is a vital part of the job. The second week was less daunting and Mike was only too happy to pass on as much information as you asked for. After two weeks I was confident to go it alone. The support is really good. I had a couple of issues in the first few weeks whilst on jobs, but Mike answered his phone straight away and was able to guide me through to complete the jobs without the customers ever knowing things were not going quite to plan! I am really enjoying running my own business. The aim is to build up a good customer base and to get referrals, which is already happening. Positive word of mouth gives me a great sense that I m doing a good job. After looking at a few franchises, I met Mike Harris of Oven Rescue Group. You work the hours that you choose, our business projections are solely based on working full time. q. can i purchase more than one of the franchise territories? a. Yes but we would like you to prove that you can manage your first one first! q. what distinguishes oven rescue group from other oven cleaning franchises? a. We believe that we have a brand that stands out from the rest, which can be replicated at a local level anywhere in the UK. We offer a personal service with training from the MD who started the business and who takes great pride in what the business stands for. q. how long is my franchise agreement for? a. The agreement is for a period of five years with options to renew every five years. q. what happens at the end of the first five-year contractual period? a. Before the end of that period, we will contact you with reference to a further agreement. We will either grant you a new franchise agreement or alternatively, you will have the right to sell the business to an approved purchaser subject to you not being in breach of your franchise agreement. q. am i allowed to sell my business? a. Yes, subject to the terms of the franchise agreement. However, you are strongly advised not to consider selling the business in the first two years as the value is likely to be less than in later years. q. in addition to training do you help me launch the business in my area? a. We will physically come to your territory and help you to market your Oven Rescue franchise and will provide you with artwork for local advertisements that you may use. q. when can i start? a. The sooner the better to take advantage of the growing interest in the franchise and before we increase our introductory offer. 14.
