1 1. Read the Prospectus for this show so you are familiar with the rules and regulations. You will be asked to sign a form stating that you read this Prospectus and comply with the rules contained therein. 2. Box 243 McKinney, TX Make your check out to The Art Club of McKinney 2016 Adult Art Show. All entries must be received by Wednesday, March 9, No late entries will be accepted. 3. Complete Entry Form B (on page 6). Attach it securely to the back of your artwork, preferably on the upper right corner. 4. On Wednesday, March 16, 2016 between 4pm-8pm, bring your artwork to the: First United Methodist Church of McKinney Auditorium (upstairs) 306 North Church Street McKinney, TX 5. The Art Show will be open: Friday, March 18, pm-9pm *Reception at 7pm-9pm* Saturday, March 19, am-6pm Sunday, March 20, am-3pm 6. Pick up your artwork on Sunday, March 20, 2016, 3pm-5pm All art must be picked up at this time. You will be asked to sign a receipt for each of your pieces of artwork. If you authorize someone else to pick up your artwork, they will be asked to identify themselves (drivers license) and sign for it. You must show your release to the person at the exit. Art not picked up after the close of the show may be subject to a $10/day late charge and/or becomes property of The Art Club of McKinney. The Art Club of McKinney, the McKinney Arts Commission, and the First United Methodist Church of McKinney will not be responsible for uncollected art. 2 PROSPECTUS The Art Club of McKinney endeavors to provide an opportunity for emerging and established artists to show original work to the public, compete for excellence awards and to sell their work. About the Show Cash awards and ribbons will be given. Admission is free to the public. Although utmost care will be taken in handling work accepted into the show, the Art Club of McKinney, the McKinney Arts Commission, nor the First United Methodist Church of McKinney will be responsible for any loss, damage or theft of the art submitted. The Art Club of McKinney reserves the right to reject any work deemed objectionable for family viewing, or is not in compliance with the entry guidelines in this document. The artist retains copyright of their artwork. Once accepted into the art show, images of the artwork become part of the Art Club of McKinney archives and may be used in publicity only for this and future art shows. Eligibility to Enter the Show The artist must be at least 18 years old, a resident of Collin County or associated with a visual arts organization in Collin County. The artist need not be a member of The Art Club of McKinney. Entry Fees Entry fees are: $35 (1-3 submissions) for members of The Art Club of McKinney $45 (1-3 submissions) for non-members Entry Guidelines All entries must be original in concept and rendering by the artist submitting the work, and have not been entered in the Annual Collin County Adult Art Show in any previous year. No wet artwork will be accepted. No exceptions! 2D artwork must be framed or gallery-wrapped, 50x50 inches maximum including frame, and weigh no more than 70 lbs. The sides of a gallery-wrapped canvas must be finished with no staples showing. All paintings must be securely wired for hanging. No saw toothed hangers allowed. 3D artwork must be fully stable and self-supporting. The combined dimensions (height + width+ depth) of 3D artwork must not exceed 70". Although glass is allowed for framed pieces, Plexiglas is preferred. The Art Club will not be responsible for any breakage of glass. Page 2 of 6

3 An identification tag must be completed and affixed securely to your artwork. For 2D work, put the identification tag on the back left upper corner. For 3D work, put the identification tag at the base of the piece. See Entry Form B (Identification Tag) on page 5. If the artwork has been signed on the front, please cover the signature. Do not use anything that will damage the artwork when the cover is removed. The artist s signature is covered for judging and is removed after the ribbons are placed. Categories This year, instead of separating and entering artworks by the medium used, all artworks will be grouped together. They will be placed in the art show so as to be ascetically pleasing, watercolors mixed with oils, drawings mixed art with fibers, etc. The size requirements will still apply. The awards this year are based on the elements of design, the principals of art and art styles. One, Best Depiction of McKinney, is based on honoring our hometown. The standard Best of Show and People s Choice Awards will continue to be awarded, along with Honorable Mentions. All awards except Honorable Mentions will have a cash prize. The categories are: Best abstract Best assemblage Best choice of subject matter Best cityscape/sky scape Best composition Best depiction of McKinney Best expressionism Best figurative Best functional Best graphic Best impressionism Best landscape/floral Best minimalist Best portrait of person and/or animal Best still life Best use of line Best use of mediums Best use of movement/rhythm Most creative Most creative use of color Most unusual The Judge The judge, a prolific producing artist, creates works on commission for many Dallas area businesses. The awards given out will be at his sole discretion. If he does not see fit to award a category, that is also at his discretion. David A. 4 Your Artwork Your art may be priced for sale. The agreement of sale is between the artist and the buyer. If someone is interested in buying your art, they should give their information (name, contact, name of art, name of artist) to a receptionist, who will pass that information to the artist. Your art may be pre-sold but must hang in the gallery for the duration of show. The artist is responsible for reporting sales tax to the State of Texas. The Art Club of McKinney, the McKinney Arts Commission, and the Heard-Craig Gallery are not involved in art sales. Directions to the Art Shows Map to Art Shows: First United Methodist Church Auditorium 306 North Church Street McKinney, TX From Central Expressway (75), take Virginia Parkway east, which will curve right and become Louisiana Street. Stay on Louisiana Street for one mile then turn left onto Church Street. At the third intersection, the First United Methodist Church Auditorium is on the right (NE corner of Church Street and Hunt Street). Enter the driveway on the right at the front entrance of the building. You can drop off and pick up your art there. There is also parking behind the building on the left off Hunt Street. Enter at the lower level and take the elevator on the right to go upstairs. The Adult Art Show is upstairs; the Student Art Show and Silent Auction is downstairs. Page 4 of 6
