As they show their natural beauty Is Miss Magic City an "all beauty-pageant?" Definitely not! You are scored 25% on your Modeling, 25% on Formal Wear Poise and Appearance, 25% on Communications Skills in an Interview, and 25% on Swimsuit. Do I have to be "beautiful," thin, or perfect in some other way? Miss Magic City, while glamorous events, are not at all like typical "all beauty" pageants. In fact, as you see above, a great part of the scoring in our pageant is based on fashion, modeling, communication and a healthy, confident contestant. Good communication and presentation skills, along with a healthy appearance are what we want to recognize and encourage. Braces, glasses, skin problems, varying heights, and many other conditions are all just part of being young. The judges are giving you scores based on where you are in life, just the way you are. What you need to concentrate on is doing your best and remembering to be positive. SMILE and do the best with what you have and enjoy the process! If you can develop and apply this positive healthy attitude now, it will benefit you your whole life! Do I need to have a Speech or Presentation Yes you do need to create a personal presentation no longer than 45 seconds, this you can create yourself or the pageant office can recommend a professional who can compose it for you for a fee of $50.

5 Are there Questions or Interviews? No there are no on stage questions or Interviews, there is a Topic which you will choose and you will develope an answere unique to you, and deliver it with your own style and personality. On-Stage Q&A (Topic of choice) Delegate should possess the ability to express herself through verbal communication in front of a large audience. Does she answer the question decisively & promptly or does she repeat the question, stall for time or hedge on her answer? There is no right or wrong answer; it can be funny, entertaining or serious - depending on the nature of the question and the personality of the delegate. Additional factors to consider when scoring this segment should be her verbal skills, expression & ability to articulate her thoughts & deliver them with conviction and/or humor. Do I have to get "coaching" or other formal training? The Miss Magic City Pageant will hold some practices which will help you, it is recommended that you practice at home and any type of additional training and or coaching will help you and your future as a whole. Everything that you need to know for the pageant will be taught to you on pageant weekend at the rehearsals. We do have various professionals who can guide you and we can recommend experts to assist you. What color does my formal dress have to be? You want to feel confident and special in your formal wear dress. The judges are looking for how you wear your dress. Is it age appropriate? Are you confident in what you have on? There is no specific color or style that is required for our program. Choose the color that looks best on you. You will know you have chosen the perfect dress, the right color and style when you put it on, feel confident, special and can't wait to wear it pageant weekend! Look for that dress that when you put it on you and your mom go "WOW" Judging Process What are Judges looking for? Our judges will be selecting winners who are ready to basically walk off our stage and get on a plane to in the United States or in any International Pageant or event. Wardrobe, hair and make-up can be changed quickly, but we cannot help her firm and tone, lose weight, have confidence, or hone her stage skills in such a short amount of time. The judges will be looking for "the whole package"! Fraternizing with Judges, Pageant Sponsors (not contestants') and or tabulator, creates a conflict of interest and Contestants may be disqualified or points deducted from their scores Judges will be looking for: Poise, Speaking Skills (does she should demonstrate a complete knowledge of info on her bio & fact sheets)? Is she relaxed and confident, yet projects a friendly & approachable personality? Can she handle questions with intelligence and demonstrates an ability to think on her feet? Look for an expressive, lively walk & general movement, as well as symmetry of form in the swimwear attire. All contestants will be wearing the pageant swimwear by the official sponsor. We do have comparison judging, and each delegate will be asked to come out once again so the judges may look at them and compare notes for scoring. Swimsuit MUST be age appropriate and there is to be NO Thongs or inappropriate or offensive swimwear Evening Gown Grace, poise, presence & style are deciding factors in this phase of competition. Cost of the gown should not be a factor. The gown can be changed before nationals; part of the prize package includes gift certificates for wardrobe. Take into consideration: Has she selected a gown that compliments her build, coloring & personality? 1. Is she wearing the gown, or is the gown wearing her? 2. Does she exude grace & style? Whichever works best for you and your family? Remember that the total contestant fee is $3005. Which includes the registration, photo shoot, swimsuit, and opening number suit? Tickets and advertising are separate and entrance tickets to all events are separate to be paid by your guests. We will supply you with Sponsorship and Advertising letters to help you raise funds and guide you how to do fundraisers.

6 I would like to be in the pageant but how do I get sponsors? The best place to begin is where your family does business. Examples are Cleaners, Insurance Companies, Banks, Doctors, Dentists, local stores, etc. Call ahead to make an appointment, and dress neatly when you visit them. Visiting potential sponsors is good practice for your interview. Most sponsors will want to ask you questions about the pageant. They receive recognition in your pageant program book and mentions from stage as the contestants are presented. What is a Sponsor Fee? The sponsor's fee can be from $500; $1,000. or $5,000 depending on their budget and it includes and can be divided up into payments if you request. The sponsor fee pays for the cost of producing the pageant, awards, trophies, choreographers, emcees, lighting, sound, staging, judges expenses, staff, florists, hotel ballroom rental, cash awards, printed materials, scholarships, office support and all of the many other things that go together to make our program stand heads above all the others. You may have as many or as few sponsors as you wish contributing to make up your total sponsor fee of $500. Or $1,000. Businesses, family, friends, or fundraising activities are all great ideas for raising your sponsor fee. Without exception, sponsor fees are non-refundable. Do I have to stay at the Hotel where the event is at? You do not have to stay, however it is very convenient and you can take advantage of the Special Rates the Hotel Offers, as well as you have a room to store all your things eat, shower and relax. All Parking and Hotel fees are your responsibility and remember we are guest of the Hotel so we must abide by their rules and regulation, such as eating in assigned areas, no smoking, no loud or obscene noises Why do I have to take photos for the pageants if I already have some?
