I appreciate your interest in hosting one of my Cutting Edge Clinics. I am thankful to have conducted over 100 of these clinics worldwide and been able to positively impact thousands of players and coaches. I would be honored to share my passion and expertise on improving basketball athleticism with the players and coaches in your area. My Cutting Edge Clinic is an innovative 3-hour, on-court workout for boys and girls ages 10+. The workout addresses warm-up, movement preparation, mobility, core strength, explosiveness, quickness, agility and reaction. I share a myriad of innovative drills, exercises and concepts on: Strengthening the feet and why that is the key to unlocking athleticism How athleticism is the foundation of every player s game 4 key ways to decrease the occurrence and severity of ACL injuries How to improve efficiency in the 6 primary movements of basketball I will also provide numerous life lessons such as: A player builds their athleticism 'brick by brick' Why life and basketball is like a game of musical chairs How working out is similar to making deposits in a bank account Success is achievable if you work hard, work smart and work consistently My Cutting Edge Clinic does not address basketball skills. In fact, within the first 5 minutes, I let the participants know that they will not dribble or shoot for the entire 3-hour workout! This document contains everything you need to know to host my Cutting Edge Clinic. Hosting is a tremendous way to provide your community with a game-changing event as well as make some extra money for yourself or your program. I have honed this formula to ensure it is a win-win-win (you, me and each and every participant)! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to work with you.
Hosting Overview All first time hosts are required to pay a $1,000 deposit to reserve a date (check or credit card can be accepted). The host is responsible for the facility, equipment (provide one basketball, tennis ball and cone/disc per participant), event promotion and registration (money collection). The host is responsible for booking Alan Stein s travel arrangements (primarily flight and hotel). All travel itineraries and Alan Stein must approve accommodations prior to booking. Alan Stein will provide a customized PDF flyer for the host to use and will heavily promote through his site, list, personal network of contacts, and social media platforms. The host will charge a standard rate of $75 per participant (same rate for players and coaches) if paid by the early registration deadline (exactly 2 weeks prior to the date of the clinic) and a rate of $99 thereafter (including day-of registration). o Each participant will be ed a link to download a FREE ankle/foot training program o Hosts may offer a group/team discount of $600 for 10 players/coaches o Host may allow any coach that directly refers 5 participants to attend for free o Any deviation from this pricing model must be approved by Alan Stein The host may consider using Eventbrite to offer online registration. If so, they need to sign up through the Stronger Team account ( Details on how to set up Eventbrite registration can be found at the end of this document. Alan Stein will conduct a formal 60-minute, private Q & A with all attending coaches at the conclusion of the clinic. The host is responsible for providing Alan Stein a Word or Excel document containing the address of every attendee (player or coach). This document needs to be ed to Alan Stein within 7 days of the conclusion of the clinic. The host is also responsible for keeping a copy of each participant s registration form and signed waiver for 6 months following the conclusion of the clinic. Many hosts have solicited local businesses to sponsor their clinic with either a cash donation or with product (Gatorades, t-shirts, etc.) to add to the overall experience and/or off set expenses. Any sponsor revenues count towards the overall clinic revenue and will divided accordingly between the host and Alan Stein. All sponsors must be pre-approved by Alan Stein. The host is responsible for paying Alan Stein s full appearance fee of $2,000 (or the $1,000 balance if an initial deposit was made) at the conclusion of the event. The additional profit share payment is due within 7 days of the conclusion of the event (and must include an itemized accounting). Filming is only permitted for private use. No video footage may be uploaded or shared without written permission from Alan Stein. Digital pictures are fine. Alan Stein will bring a suite of give-a-ways from Stronger Team sponsors. Alan Stein has the right to sell merchandise at the event and keep 100% of the profits.
Financial Model Alan Stein is guaranteed a $2,000 appearance fee ($1,000 deposit is required from first time hosts) The host will pay Alan Stein s travel expenses (which may include airfare, hotel, & meals) Once Alan Stein s fees and clinic expenses have been paid, the host retains the next $2,000 profit Alan Stein and the host will split all additional revenue evenly (50% to each party): EXAMPLE (assuming Alan Stein s travel and additional clinic expenses are an even $500): 60 participants x $75 = $4,500 ($2,000 each) 70 participants x $75 = $5,250 ($2,375 each) 80 participants x $75 = $6,000 ($2,750 each) 90 participants x $75 = $6,750 ($3,125 each) 100 participants x $75 = $7,500 ($3,500 each) 110 participants x $75 = $8,250 ($3,625 each) 120 participants x 75 = $9,000 ($4,250 each) EXAMPLE BREAKDOWN: Revenue: 67 players paid $75 each: 14 coaches paid $75 each: $5,025 $1,050 $6,075 Expenses (Alan Stein): Fee: Flight: Hotel: Meals: $2,000 $330 $120 $50 $2,500 $6,075 - $2,500 = $3,575 (initial profit) $3,575 - $2,000 = $1,575 (remaining profit) (*to the host) $1,575 / 2 = $ (paid to each Alan Stein and the host) Alan Stein and the host each make $2,787.50
Example Agenda 5 minutes Host provides general introduction and then introduces Alan Stein 10 minutes Alan Stein lays the foundation for a game changing experience 15 minutes Series of barefoot ankle/foot exercises 30 minutes Series of warm-up drills 15 minutes Series of mobility exercises 15 minutes Series of on-court strength exercises 5 minutes Halftime break 10 minutes Series of plyometric drills 30 minutes Series of acceleration/deceleration drills 30 minutes Series of quickness/reaction drills 15 minutes Group picture, give-a-ways, closing remarks by Alan Stein and the host Players depart 60 minutes Private Q & A with coaches Order of Operations 1. Agree to a date and time 2. Sign the written agreement (example below) 3. Pay the $1,000 deposit (first time hosts only) 4. Create flyer 5. Make travel arrangements 6. Begin marketing and promoting Information needed for the flyer: o Date of clinic o Location of clinic (full address) o Time of clinic (4-hour window) o Cost: $75 per player/coach o Age: Boys & girls ages 10+ o Contact info (Name, , and phone number of primary contact) o Registration info (Make checks payable to whom? Send where? Online registration?) Travel arrangements: o If leaving from home, Alan Stein can fly out of any of the DC area airports DCA, IAD, or BWI. o In many instances, Alan Stein will be going to or coming from another event. o If that is the case, it is Alan Stein s policy to have both hosts share the cost of applicable travel expenses. This saves both parties money and is the fairest way to handle it. For example, the Saturday host is responsible for Alan Stein s flight from DC to their city (City A). Then the Saturday and Sunday host will split the cost of Alan Stein s flight from City A to City B. Then the Sunday host is responsible for Alan Stein s flight back to the airport where he origi nally departed. Alan Stein will gladly help coordinate this process!
Marketing & Promoting Each host will receive the standard Cutting Edge Clinic PDF flyer. This should be the #1 marketing piece. It can be ed as an attachment or uploaded to the web to make available for download. Alan Stein will personally the flyer to all of the contacts he has within a 100-mile radius of the event. He will schedule regular Twitter and Facebook posts leading up to the event. It is advised that the host personally reach out to (either call or ) every middle school, high school, and AAU boys/girls coaches within a 2-hour drive of the event and encourage the coaches come watch, take notes, and ask questions and to recommend their players attend. It is suggested the host post announcements on Facebook and Twitter for a re-tweet). When a coach/player does register, the host should inquire if they have colleagues/teammates who may have interest in attending. Focus on the process, not the outcome. Focus on the present. The host should make it their goal to sign up one player/coach every day for the 60 days leading up to the event. Alan Stein is 100% committed to doing everything he can to ensure the clinic is a success and make the event an unforgettable experience for everyone involved! Eventbrite Online Registration Eventbrite is an easy, efficient, and user friendly way for you to allow players and coaches to register for your Cutting Edge Clinic online. It also makes the day-of check in procedure a snap, as registered participants simply bring their printed receipt for you to scan with a smartphone or tablet (thus granting you access to all of their contact information). Here s how you get started: STEP #1: Click here: (please use this direct link) STEP #2: Sign up for and register your own Eventbrite account STEP #3: Customize your Organizer Profile and Organizer settings STEP #4: Create an event page for our Cutting Edge Clinic If you need assistance regarding your account or page, Eventbrite s customer service is outstanding. Simply click the Contact Us tab in the upper right corner of your screen and fill out an inquiry. If you would like to add The Stronger Team Logo or pictures of me, I will gladly send them. If you would like assistance with graphic design or with a custom background for the event page, please consult with Jeremy Stein at jeremy@jaygraygraphics.com. Once your account is set up, customized, and the event is live (ready to accept payment), we can add the direct URL to our event flyer and you can promote the link on your website and through social media!
