MEN Number f Quta Places 4 Qualificatin Event 2014/15 Wrld Rugby s Sevens Wrld Series The teams ranked 1 t 4 in the final rankings f the 2014/15 Wrld Rugby s Sevens Wrld Series will qualify directly a quta place fr their NOC t the Ri 2016 Olympic Games. It is intended that the 2014/15 Wrld Rugby s Sevens Wrld Series will cnsist f nine (9) turnaments and will cmmence in Octber 2014 and finish in May The number f turnaments in the Series and the dates f each turnament will be cnfirmed by July With regard t the qualificatin prcess fr Great Britain, if mre than ne team frm England, Sctland and Wales qualify t participate as cre teams in the 2014/15 Wrld Rugby s Sevens Wrld Series, then by n later than 30 June, 2014 the BOA must designate the lead team which slely will be able t btain qualificatin fr Great Britain t the Ri 2016 Olympic Games Wrld Rugby Reginal Assciatin s Sevens Champinships The winner f each f the 2015 Wrld Rugby Reginal Assciatin s Sevens Champinships will qualify a quta place fr their NOC t the Ri 2016 Olympic Games as fllws: Africa (CAR) - 1 team Asia (ARFU) - 1 team Eurpe (FIRA-AER) - 1 team Nrth America and the Caribbean (NACRA ) - 1 team Oceania (FORU) 1 team Suth America (CONSUR) - 1 team All 2015 Wrld Rugby Reginal Assciatin Sevens Champinships are intended t take place between 1 June 2015 and 31 December The dates fr each Wrld Rugby Reginal Assciatin Sevens Champinship will be cnfirmed by 31 December Teams that have already qualified quta places fr their NOC t the Ri 2016 Olympic Games thrugh the 2014/15 Wrld Rugby s Sevens Wrld Series are nt eligible t participate in the Reginal Qualificatin turnaments. 3 1 Final Olympic Qualificatin Turnament The winner f the Final Olympic Qualificatin turnament will qualify a quta place fr their NOC t the Ri 2016 Olympic Games. The final qualificatin turnament will be a 16 team turnament with the fllwing quta f the best ranked teams frm each Wrld Rugby Regin invited t participate, based n rankings frm the 2015 Reginal Turnaments: Africa (CAR) - 3 teams Asia (ARFU) - 3 teams Eurpe (FIRA-AER) - 4 teams Nrth America and the Caribbean (NACRA) - 2 teams Oceania (FORU) - 2 teams Suth America (CONSUR) - 2 teams Teams that have already qualified quta places fr their NOC t the Ri 2016 Olympic Games are nt eligible t participate in the Final Olympic Qualificatin Turnament. CONFIRMATION PROCESS FOR QUOTA PLACES Fllwing each qualificatin event, Wrld Rugby will publish the results n its website and infrm the respective NOCs f their allcated quta places within three days (3) f the cnclusin f the qualificatin event. The NOCs will then have furteen days (14) t cnfirm if they wish t use these quta places, as detailed in paragraph G. Qualificatin Timeline. F. REALLOCATION OF UNUSED QUOTA PLACES REALLOCATION OF UNUSED QUALIFICATION PLACES If an allcated quta place is nt cnfirmed by the NOC by the cnfirmatin f quta place deadline r is declined by the NOC, the quta place will be reallcated as fllws: - If the team qualified thrugh the 2014/15 Wrld Rugby s Sevens Wrld Series, the quta place will be reallcated t the next highest ranked team frm the 2014/15 Series. - If the team qualified thrugh the Reginal Qualificatin Turnament, the quta place will be reallcated t the next highest ranked team frm the same Reginal Qualificatin turnament. - In respect f the Final Olympic Qualificatin Turnament, the NOCs f all teams that have qualified t participate in the turnament must cnfirm prir t the turnament that the NOC will accept the qualificatin place. If due t exceptinal circumstances the quta place cannt be filled then it will be reallcated t the next highest ranked team frm the Final Olympic Qualificatin Turnament.
