4 JMD main principles Very high selectivity f the JMDs: nly excellent jint master prgrammes will be selected and funded Implemented by cnsrtia f fully recgnised HEIs, in the EU and (where relevant) in Partner Cuntries Full schlarships fr the best master students wrldwide with a pririty n nn- EU students (a minimum f 75 % will be earmarked fr students frm Partner Cuntries) Supprt t invited schlars (/guest lecturers) cntributing t the JMD teaching/training/research activities Jint degrees encuraged but nt mandatry (duble/multiple degrees still eligible) Centrally managed in Brussels by the Executive Agency 4

6 Taking part as an rganisatin JMDs are pen t any public r private rganisatin lcated in Prgramme r Partner Cuntries Higher Educatin Institutins (HEIs) Nn-academic partners (enterprises, nn-prfit rganisatins, NGOs, fundatins, etc.) Applicant must be a HEI established in a Prgramme Cuntry. The HEI applies n behalf f the JMD cnsrtium Minimum cnsrtium cmpsitin: at least 3 HEIs as full partners frm at least 3 different Prgramme Cuntries Assciated partners (ptinal): cntribute indirectly t the implementatin f specific tasks/activities, e.g. disseminatin, knwledge and skills transfer, cmplementary curses r pssibilities fr secndment r placement. Fr cntractual management issues nt cnsidered as part f the JMD cnsrtium 6

7 JMD Award Criteria Prjects will be assessed against the fllwing criteria: Relevance f the prject (max 30 pints) Quality f the prject design and implementatin (max 30 pints) Quality f the prject team and the cperatin arrangements (max 20 pints) Impact and disseminatin (max 20 pints) T be cnsidered fr funding, prpsals must scre at least: 70 pints verall and First step: 75% (22,5 pints) f the maximum allcated pints fr "relevance" Secnd step: 60% f the maximum allcated pints fr each f the remaining award criteria 7

8 JMD implementatin JMD Cnsrtium Agreement: institutinal cmmitment f all rganisatins participating in the JMD cnsrtium. In line with the principles f the Eurpean Charter fr Higher Educatin (ECHE), it must cver all academic, peratinal, administrative and financial aspects related t the implementatin f the JMD. Duratin f the prject: 1 preparatry year + 3 intakes (5 years maximum) EU Grant will vary indicatively between 2 and 3 millin EUR: Lump sum fr cnsrtium management (including invited schlars/guest lecturers; at least 4 invited schlars/guest lecturers per intake) EUR => EUR fr the preparatry year (+) EUR per intake f the JMD Fixed number f student schlarships fr the 3 intakes (between per intake) maximum EUR per academic year and per schlarship actual amunt f the individual schlarships will vary in accrdance with a) the JMD length (60, 90 r 120 ECTS) b) the student cuntry/regin f residence c) the JMD participatin csts 8

9 Taking part as an individual JMD student schlarships: are cmpetitive with ther internatinal pstgraduate schlarship schemes include: a travel allwance an installatin allwance a fixed mnthly allwance fr all schlarship hlders cverage f the students' participatin csts /tuitin fees ( EUR per academic year) (1 000 EUR - Partner Cuntry students nly) (1 000 EUR) (9 000 EUR / year - Partner Cuntry student) (4 500 EUR / year - Prgramme Cuntry student) JMD schlarship applicants: must have a first higher educatin degree r equivalent may nt have received an Erasmus Mundus Master Curse schlarship in the past can submit a schlarship applicatin t maximum three JMD prgrammes must sign a student agreement with the JMD cnsrtium 9

10 JMD Quality Review & JMD Catalgue Quality Review f the JMD prgrammes at the beginning f the 3rd intake Assessment f whether: the JMD has met the expectatins raised in the initial funding perid in terms f excellence, perfrmance and relevance management/financial practices within and between the cnsrtium partners have prved t be effective and in accrdance with the Prgramme rules the JMD has clear prspects fr sustainability and can maintain standards f excellence in delivering the curse even with reduced Erasmus+ financial supprt Cnsidered under the JMD Catalgue: further funding fr up t 3 additinal student intakes 'shared funding' principle: each JMD schlarship backed by equivalent financial resurces 10
