Duties: As listed in the Statement of Duties for Education Support Officer SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications in the XXX discipline and a commitment to maintain technical currency. (Note: this may include particular levels of experience and or vocational qualifications. The relevant Institute will insert the specific detail for the role). 2. Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline. 3. High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner 4. Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students 5. Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team 6. Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies 7. 4 NSW TECHNICAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION COMMISSION STATEMENT OF DUTIES TITLE UNDER AGREEMENT: TAFE Commission of NSW Teachers & Related Employees Enterprise Agreement 2013 DEPARTMENTAL TITLE: Education Support Officer An Education Support Officer is supervised by a Teacher-in-Charge, or Head Teacher and works under the direction of a Teacher as appropriate. The role of the Education Support Officer involves a range of activities which directly and indirectly support learning and enhance the educative process. These include the following functions performed under the supervision or guidance of a Head Teacher or Teacher: 1. Provide support to students to carry out tasks and understand their learning materials and concepts 2. Work in conjunction with Teachers and other roles as part of a delivery team 3. Provide tutoring support to clients in a range of locations and modes to maintain engagement with the learning program and to build skill and competence as advised by a Teacher 4. Implement the tutoring strategy that has been developed by the Teacher and follow up students to encourage ongoing engagement and motivate and encourage the students to complete their tasks and activities 5. Support Teachers and Head Teachers in meeting ASQA compliance functions including documentation 6. Supplement the teaching activities by providing follow-up instruction as provided by the teacher and opportunities to practice skills 7. Provide tutoring support and feedback by face-to-face contact, , online or by other mode using a range of media options. 8. Provide support to the department and attend meetings as required 9. Carry out administrative functions as required to support the teaching section NOTE: This role does not teach or prepare lessons or resources and does not deliver training nor undertake assessment

The relevant Institute will insert the specific detail for the role). Note Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct assessments, validations and moderations in the VET environment 3. Demonstrated understanding of VET regulatory compliance requirements 4. Understanding of the content of learning materials and the processes used in the discipline and a commitment to maintain professional currency 5. High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and good organisational skills 6. Commitment and ability to provide feedback in an adult learning environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students 7. Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team 8. Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies 9. Commitment and capacity to implement Equal Employment opportunity (EEO), Ethical Practice, Ethnic Affairs Priorities Statements, Work Health and Safety (WH&S) as they relate to the position. Team approach to assessment is allowed where team has combined expertise in (a (b) and (c)
7 NSW TECHNICAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION COMMISSION STATEMENT OF DUTIES TITLE UNDER AGREEMENT: TAFE Commission of NSW Teachers & Related Employees Enterprise Agreement 2013 DEPARTMENTAL TITLE: Assessor An Assessor is responsible to and supervised by the Teacher-in-Charge or Head Teacher as appropriate. The role of the Assessor involves a range of activities which directly and indirectly support learning and enhance the educative process. An Assessor may: 1. As part of a team including a teacher and/or Head Teacher, design, validate and carry out assessments and moderations. This may be in any environment, including workplace, community or TAFE campus and may be face to face or via distance 2. Implement an assessment strategy that has been developed in conjunction with the Teacher 3. Develop and carry out independent assessments 4. Identify gaps that may require further training by teachers 5. Support Teachers and Head Teachers in meeting ASQA compliance functions including documentation 6. Work in conjunction with Teachers and other roles as part of a delivery team 7. Identify and handle with sensitivity the differing needs and requirements of the candidates, the local enterprise/s and / or industry 8. Carry out necessary administrative and compliance work associated with assessment, validations and moderations 9. Motivate and encourage the candidates to complete their tasks and activities 10. Provide support to the department and attend meetings as required Note: This role does not teach or deliver training.

Duties: As listed in the Statement of Duties for Head Teacher Band 3. Selection Criteria 1. Appropriate technical or professional qualifications, and vocational and/or industrial experience, to be able to teach in one of the principal areas managed by the Head Teacher Band 3. See Note Educational qualification at Diploma in TAE or above and post graduate qualification relating to an Educational Specialisation such as assessment & evaluation; higher education; technology; flexible learning; VET Pedagogy, or, a vocational qualification at diploma or above in the relevant industry discipline (eg Diploma Building & Construction)See Note Demonstrated high level educational leadership capabilities in VET teaching, learning and assessment practice 4. Demonstrated current knowledge and skills in a relevant industry, discipline. professional practices and technologies 5. Established and effective current links to industry and the community including demonstrated record of building and developing strategic networks, partnerships and alliances and a demonstrated ability to identify, plan and implement relevant courses and services 6. High level understanding of current issues relating to the VET and/or higher education sector including policies and legislation and a demonstrated capacity to lead and develop a team of professional staff members and to undertake initiatives and incorporate successful outcomes into the teaching and learning environment 7. Demonstrated experience in an educational environment at both a strategic and operational level with sound administrative skills, and ability to plan, manage and monitor financial, human and physical resources and experience in setting work priorities, problem solving and meeting deadlines in a high workload environment. 8. Demonstrated sound interpersonal, negotiation and teamwork skills and a proven commitment to quality customer service and high level written and oral communication skills in English. 9. Demonstrated ability to implement Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Ethical Practice, Ethnic Affairs Priorities Statements, Work Health and Safety (WHS) as they relate to the position.
10 10. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department s Aboriginal education and training policies. Note 1: Current entry requirements for discipline 1. To be considered for appointment to an Head Teacher Band 3 the person must possess: i) Appropriate technical or professional qualifications and vocational/industrial experience as determined necessary by the Institute and as a minimum complying with the relevant regulatory requirements. The person must also possess an educational qualification at Diploma in TAE or above, and demonstrate continued professional and leadership development; and, ii) iii) Post graduate qualification relating to an Educational Specialisation such as assessment & evaluation; higher education; technology; flexible learning; VET Pedagogy, or, Vocational qualification at diploma or above in the relevant industry discipline (e.g. Diploma Building & Construction) Note 2: Teacher Education Qualification Requirements Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or demonstrated equivalent competencies is the minimum teaching requirement. Other educational qualifications may be recognised upon application. Degrees and Graduate Diplomas in Vocational Education, post 1998 may include the Certificate IV competencies, depending on the educational institution. However, qualifications prior to this date in most cases will not include these competencies.

Provides active, innovative leadership across the educational process at a college, faculty or institute level by guiding and enhancing the professional competence, educational standards, and program delivery to enable students to better achieve their outcomes 2. Is responsible for driving change, improvements and innovation in educational practice, application of technology, and professional development and support 3. May be required to teach from time to time, but has no allocated teaching load 4. Performs an educational leadership role for a faculty, several faculties, college, campus or Institute. This may include some or all of the following, dependant on business needs: 4.1 Leads a team where there is significant growth opportunity or complexity of leadership 4.2 Works collaboratively including with other Head Teachers where appropriate, and Teachers to lead the formation of best practice in delivery teams 4.3 Leads the development of course offerings and teacher capabilities to meet challenges of significant new markets
12 4.4 Acts as Discipline Expert to liaise with specified industry, plan a suite of new courses and develop capabilities to deliver 4.5 Drives the implementation of a major education and training innovation that impacts on practices of teaching staff 4.6 Facilitates excellence in cross cultural educational delivery across an Institute 4.7 Leads workplace and industry focused delivery 4.8 Leads curriculum and product development 4.9 Develops and leads mentoring and coaching support processes.
