Introduction to the role ACAP s School of Counselling is currently recruiting for either a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to work on our Sydney Campus. The Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor will provide academic leadership in the areas of teaching, learning, research, professional development, policy formation and will support the promotion and practice of excellence in all areas of academic activity in the School. The role includes undertaking activities associated with course accreditation, curriculum development, teaching, and research project supervision. The position includes a research and scholarship component. The successful applicant will be expected to have extensive online teaching, curriculum development and research experience and will be responsible for contributing to course accreditation and reaccreditation, course coordination and developing and teaching a range of units within the school. The position provides an exciting opportunity to be involved in the School of Counselling and the ongoing development of counselling and psychotherapy as a discipline. The position is full-time and ongoing. This role reports to the Head of School. Appointment to Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor will depend on the suitability of the candidate and their experience and contribution to the discipline. Essential Skills & Experience A PhD in Counselling or a related discipline Eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body A commendable teaching record evidencing the ability to provide a quality learning environment in various delivery modes Experience in course development and coordination of academic programs A well-developed record of supervising Honours and higher degree research students Demonstrated ability to provide mentoring to academic teaching and research staff Extensive record of publication in internationally refereed scientific journals The ability to encourage and nurture a research culture, through the management of research, and the mentoring of staff in the development of their research careers Willingness to contribute to the preparation of accreditation documentation for both regulatory authorities and professional association authorities Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team A high level of commitment to the advancement of the discipline Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills Willingness to implement required WHS policies and safe work practices and to implement equal opportunity and diversity policies and programs

3 Senior Lecturer in School of Counselling Division: Reports To: Professional and English Programs Australian College of Applied Psychology 1. Overview and Objectives of the Position The Senior Lecturer will oversee and prepare quality curriculum in the ACAP School of Counselling programs with particular focus on Bachelor of Counselling Honours and Bachelor of Social Science Honours programs. The curriculum includes interactive and innovative online teaching and learning activities as well as on-campus teaching. Academics are expected to undertake unit and course convening, research and scholarship activities, and professional service and the role involves postgradute research project supervision. This ongoing position provides the exciting opportunity to be involved in the School of Counselling as we implement new and reaccredited postgraduate counselling and psychotherapy courses. The position is for a full-time and ongoing appointment on our Sydney campus. 2. Professional service Contribute to the professions of counselling and social science. Selection Criteria (Qualifications, Skills and Experience) SELECTION CRITERIA Essential skills and experience PhD or professional doctorate qualification Demonstrated ability to develop quality curriculum and assessments at postgraduate levels in accredited counselling and psychotherapy degrees, with experience of professional accreditation requirements Track record of peer refereed publications in international journals and successful research grant applications or other scholarship activities Ability to liaise effectively with academics, administration, student placement and sessional teaching staff in a complex cross-campus organisational structure Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in teams Membership of relevant professional associations Demonstrated computer literacy, including competence in using word processing, Excel, and qualitative and/or statistical analysis software Knowledge of Work Health and Safety policies of relevance to the work environment Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with School and College staff Valid working with Children Check Document version details Issue date Summary of changes This position description was updated in January
