1 POSITION INFORMATION PACKAGE Position Training Officer Advertised 9 February 2015 Program Training and Professional Development Services General Description Hours CRS is seeking a highly experienced and specialised Training Officer to deliver (and co-deliver) CRS Nationally Accredited Mediation Training courses, as well as standard and in-house training programs. Generally hours per week. Standard hours will apply for some of the time to ensure the position holder is part of the CRS staff team at the CRS and is able to participate in events (eg staff meetings). Some hours of duty will be determined by the needs of CRS training programs. The remainder of hours are negotiable in regards to when and how these are worked. Remuneration - Level 6.1 under MEA Employment Status - $31.95/hr - Superannuation 9.5% - Long Service Leave 1.67% - Salary Sacrificing available Initially this position will be a contract until Ongoing employment will be contingent on CRS Training contracts and services, government funding, the needs of the CRS and position holder performance. Organisational Relationships Position Location Award/ Agreement Provisions The Training Officer works with a degree of autonomy within the CRS. Support is provided to the Training Officer through Corporate Services which assists with administration of courses. Oversight management from the Executive Officer who provides guidance on course content and delivery and strategic directions for CRS Training and Professional Development programs. The position is primarily located at CRS s main offices, currently situated in the Griffin Centre, Canberra City Some in-house courses will require delivery onsite at client s workplace. Flexible arrangements to work from home as negotiated; home office must comply with WHS. 2 About the Conflict Resolution Service The Conflict Resolution Service (CRS) is a not-for-profit community organisation established in1988. CRS is the leading community service provider of diverse dispute prevention, management and resolution services to the ACT community. CRS provides many services, including: Mediation Conflict Coaching Facilitation Information and Referral Education for Self-Advocacy Community Education Training Mediator Professional Development and Accreditation Types of disputes CRS assists with include (but are not limited to): Workplace Neighbourhood Social Business Organisations, Committees, Communities Family (including young people, wills/estates, guardianship) Separated couples including property settlements and parenting arrangements (CRS is a designated provider of Family Dispute Resolution Services under the Family Law Act (Cth) Services are offered to individuals, government agencies and the private sector. CRS is funded by the ACT Government with additional income being generated through commercial mediation, facilitation and training. Further information about CRS can be found at POSITION OVERVIEW The CRS has a long and successful history of delivering courses for the prevention, management and resolution of disputes. CRS delivers both standard and in-house courses for government, private and the not-for profit sector. Course range from half day to 7-day courses (either delivered in consecutive days or over several weeks). The framework for courses range from Nationally Accredited Mediation Training and Competency based under the AQTF. CRS also delivers professional development courses for general enrolment or creates tailored courses for in-house clients. The types of courses CRS delivers include, but are not limited to: - Communication and Negotiation skills - Leadership and Management - Workplace Effectiveness - Mediation Training - Facilitation skills - Conflict Resolution - Working with Clients and Customers The Training Officer s main purview is the development and delivery of training and professional development courses. The Training Officer is not required to negotiate training contracts nor undertake any marketing of CRS s Training and Professional Development services. 3 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES For the purpose of defining the nature of CRS training content, the CRS primarily develops and delivers training which relates to the prevention, management and resolution of conflict, and related disciplines. 1. Review, update, develop and deliver as needed the CRS s: a) Standard training packages. b) In-house training packages for clients, as the negotiated by the CRS. c) Nationally Accredited Mediation Training course, including training, coaching and assessing processes. 2. Liaise with clients to determine content and logistics of training requirements. 3. Develop proposals and calendar for Standard Training Courses 4. Co-ordinate support roles for training such as coaches, role players and assessors with the support of the CRS Admin Officer. 5. Maintain, review, update (as needed) a catalogue of training packages and resources. 6. Obtain feedback from external stakeholders following all training sessions. 7. Facilitate some of the Professional Development and Supervision sessions for CRS mediators and external stakeholders and provide follow up reports. 8. Maintain records and prepare reports on training activities for internal and external purposes Additional Note: All suitably qualified CRS staff are also appointed to the CRS Panel of Mediators to deliver mediation services for a wide range of dispute types. SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Alternative Dispute Resolution: a. Recognised qualification in Mediation in accordance with National Mediator Accreditation Standards. b. Minimum 3 years experience as a practicing mediator across a diverse range of dispute types Training: a. Minimum 3 years experience instructing, facilitating and training groups (see footnote 1). b. Highly desirable: Certificate IV in Training and Professional Development. c. Demonstrated experience in developing, reviewing and maintaining training packages. 1 Should the preferred applicant not have 3 years mediator experience and/or 3 years experience as an instructor, they will be assigned as co-trainer (not Principal Trainer) of CRS Mediation Courses until they reach the required threshold under the National Mediator Accreditation Standards. 4 d. Understanding of adult learning principles including delivery modes and content. (including but not limited to workshop delivery, workbook/participant notes, activities, communication skills, use of IT, dvd s/youtube etc) e. Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and show initiative in the development, presentation and delivery of training courses. b. Demonstrated time management and organisational skills with ability to work with complex issues within potentially restricted timeframes. c. Sound computer skills, particularly as they relate to training development and delivery. d. Strong administrative and record keeping skills. 4. General a. Driver s Licence and access to own vehicle b. Working with Vulnerable People Check or ability to obtain. APPLICATION PROCESS 1.
