1 Holland meets Pune Smart City Connect Monday, 09 th May 2016, Hotel Taj Vivanta, Pune Pune is the ninth-most populous city in India and the second largest in the state of Maharashtra. Pune has been able to create one of the strongest human capital and economic growth engines among Indian cities. With 811 colleges, it is often called the Oxford of the East. This has resulted in more than 30% graduate workforce, which has triggered the IT revolution in the city. Almost all of the top IT companies in the country have their presence here, making it the 2nd biggest software hub in the country. The city also has a strong manufacturing base across auto and engineering. Thus, Pune is among the top five foreign direct investment (FDI) destinations in India. It is also one of the successful start-up destinations in India with more than 400 local start-ups. Pune is also home to many Dutch companies; among them are Philips, DSM, TomTom, Decos Technology Group, Akzo Nobel Chemicals, Frames Process Systems and Intervet International and Indo-Dutch joint ventures like Kanak Agri-Tech and K F Bioplants. Engineering, Automotives, Floriculture and Software Services are the main areas where Dutch companies have invested in Pune. Pune ranked 2 nd on Government of India s list of Smart Cities amongst first 20 cities selected to be developed under Smart Cities Mission. Smart cities are projected to be equipped with basic infrastructure and will offer a good quality of life through smart solutions. Assured water and power supply, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, robust IT connectivity, e-governance and citizen participation along with safety of its citizens are some of the likely attributes of these smart cities. Priority areas for Pune under Smart City initiative are Water Supply and Sewage Waste Management and Sanitation Transportation and Mobility Housing Solutions Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Consulate General of the Kingdom of The Netherlands are organising a Holland meets Pune - Smart City Connect on Monday, 09 th May 2016 in Pune. The aim of this event is to connect Dutch Industry Solution Providers on focus areas and (PMC) & other City stakeholders with a motive of Improving the City with existing resources under the Slogan More for Less. This would be an excellent opportunity for the Dutch Industry to connect with PMC on the focus areas and help make Pune a Smart City.

2 The Smart City Connect event in Pune offers: Keynote Sessions and Panel Discussions - To better identify key priorities in cities of India and attract key decision-makers, a key-note session and a panel discussion will be hosted. This will help Dutch businesses understands the needs of the market. Exhibition Area/ Smart Solutions Showcase The event will offer Dutch companies a platform to exhibit their products/services by offering a stall in the exhibition area. Case Study Presentations by companies This offers a platform to Dutch companies to showcase their product or expertise. The event will be opened by the Pune Commission engineers stating their needs and constraints. Companies may present their case-studies of projects undertaken and innovative solutions to overcome local challenges.
