1 Pre-Istallatio Network Plaig Forms--S8700 Media Server S8700 Media Server with a Avaya G600 Media Gateways S8700 Media Server with Avaya MCC1/SCC1 Gateways Before you istall ad cofigure a Avaya media server, complete the pre-istallatio plaig forms. Allow up to 4 hours to complete the forms. If you do ot have this iformatio complete, DO NOT BEGIN THE SERVER CONFIGURATION. DO NOT GUESS AT THESE NUMBERS. To do so could corrupt the customers etwork. Review these plaig forms with ad get the data to fill it out from the customer corporate LAN admiistrator. Some items i the plaig forms are preceded by a alphaumeric referece marker. These referece markers, for may items, are icluded o Figure 1 ad 2. The referece markers i the figures will help users to uderstad where items are cofigured. I additio, the referece markers are listed i Appedix A alog with additioal iformatio about particular items. Default values provided i the plaig forms: For Multi-Coect cofiguratios may etries have default values because the cotrol etwork is dedicated ad provided by Avaya. It is strogly recommeded that you use these defaults for the Multi-Coect cofiguratios. The customer corporate LAN admiistrator may require you to chage IP addresses to prevet coflicts with existig edpoits o the corporate LAN. Make precise otes of ay chages ad follow istructios exactly. For IP Coect cofiguratios very few etries ca use default values. Because the IP Coect cofiguratio uses the customer s o-dedicated etwork for both cotrol ad voice bearer, uique etries must be obtaied from the customer corporate LAN admiistrator. Etries that ca use default values for IP coect cofiguratios will be specifically oted i the plaig forms.! CAUTION: It is crucial to coordiate the IP addresses that will be used with your Avaya media server with those o the eterprise LAN. If you specify a Etheret address for the Avaya server compoet that coflicts with aother Etheret edpoit, the resultig problems with traffic o the local area etwork may be extremely difficult to diagose ad resolve. Logis required for istallatio S8700 Media Server ad/or S8300 cofigured as LSP Avaya Istallatio Persoel craft - Used for cofigurig ad admiisterig the S8700 server ad access to Avaya MultiVatage software. For iitial istallatio appropriate default passwords should be obtaied through traiig. NOTE: After the autheticatio file is loaded o the S8700 server this logi will be Access Security Gateway (ASG) protected, i.e. challege ad respose. Busiess Parter Persoel dadmi - Used for cofigurig ad admiisterig the S8700 server ad access to Avaya MultiVatage software. For iitial istallatio appropriate default passwords should be obtaied durig traiig. G700 Media Gateway Layer 2 switchig processor Allpersoeluse: root - Used to cofigure the layer 2 switchig processor ad add additioal users. The default password will be obtaied durig traiig Media Gateway Processor (MGP) Allpersoeluse: Sessio commad - Access to the MGP will geerally be via the sessio commad after logi to the Layer 2 switchig processor is completed. Telet sessios to the MGP ca be established after addresses are cofigured. User autheticatio for these telet sessios will be doe by the Layer 2 switchig processor. Ay valid logi (root or logis created by root) ca be used to logi to the MGP directly. IP Server Iterface Circuit Pack Allpersoeluse: craft - Used to set the IP address, subet mask, a gateway o the IPSI circuit pack. The default password will be obtaied durig traiig. 3

4 Avaya Etheret switches (if equipped) Allpersoeluse: root - Used for cofigurig the P333/334 switches supplied as cotrol etwork switches. At iitial istallatio the password for these devices is available i the user guide supplied with the switch. Powerware 9125 UPS Allpersoeluse: Whe directly coected to the serial port o the CoectUPS SNMP Module a logi ad password are ot required. However, if the CoectUPS SNMP Module has bee previously cofigured to commuicate with a modem a password is required to recofigure it. The default password is available i the user guide supplied with the device. Customer LAN Coectivity Test Iformatio For media servers that will be coected to a customer s corporate LAN testig will be required to verify coectivity. Obtai, from a customer represetative, a IP address for a host o the customer s etwork. If Domai Name Service (DNS) is operatioal o the customer s etwork also obtai a DNS ame for the host. NOTE: The DNS ame ad address will oly be used as a target for a pig operatio. Logi ad password iformatio for the host machie will NOT be required. Customer host machie IP address Customer host machie DNS ame S8700 Cofiguratio to be istalled S8700 media servers ca be istalled i a IP Coect cofiguratio or Multi-Coect cofiguratio. The IP coect cofiguratio uses the corporate (customer) eterprise LAN to trasport both cotrol ad voice bearer messages to ad betwee Port Networks (PN). IP coect is available i the Duplex reliability cofiguratio, i.e. duplicated media servers with a simplex o-dedicated (customer) etwork. The multi-coect cofiguratio uses a dedicated IP etwork to trasport cotrol messages to the PNs. A traditioal Ceter Stage Switch (CSS) or Asychroous Trasfer Mode (ATM) switch is used to trasport voice bearer traffic betwee PNs. Multi-Coect is available i three differet reliability cofiguratios. Duplex: Duplicated media servers; simplex (cotrol etwork A) dedicated cotrol etwork ad simplex voice bearer etwork (CSS or ATM). High: Duplicated media servers; duplicated (cotrol etwork A ad B) dedicated cotrol etwork; simplex voice bearer (CSS or ATM). Critical: Duplicated media servers; duplicated (cotrol etwork A ad B) dedicated cotrol etwork; duplicated voice bearer etwork (CSS or ATM). 4

5 2a Eter the server cofiguratio (IP-Coect or Multi-Coect) that will be istalled {}: S8700 media server placemet Servers may either be co-located (100 meters or less apart) or separated (greater tha 100 meters but less tha 10 kilometers) for disaster recovery purposes. This is importat i that some etries i the cofigure server screes may be differet depedig o whether the servers are co-located ad o the same subet or separated ad o differet subets. See item 2i. Whe servers are separated by more tha 100 meters media coverters will be required to exted Etheret coectios betwee servers. 6 Licese ad Registratio Data The followig iformatio will be required whe usig the either the Remote Feature Activatio (RFA) web site or the Automatic Registratio Tool (ART) web site. RFA Data 3a Avaya SAP Order umber{}: 3b Serial Number of Referece TN2312 IP Server Iterface (IPSI) circuit pack{}: This serial umber may ot be available util delivery of equipmet. This serial umber is used i the creatio of the licese file that will be used o the S8700 Media Server. The IPSI circuit pack that will be closest, from a logical data poit of view, to the media servers should be selected. This will decrease the amout of iterveig equipmet that could cause a lapse i commuicatio with the referece IPSI. NOTE: ASG Product ID (PID) umbers will be obtaied by RFA ad icorporated ito the S8700 servers via the licese file. Alarm Product ID umbers will be provided, via the istall script, by the Automatic Registratio Tool. The Alarm PID will be etered durig istallatio via a bash commad (productid). Automatic Registratio Tool (ART) Data ART requires this iformatio to geerate a skeleto MAESTRO record for the S8700 Media Server istallatio. ART will provide the followig iformatio to the user: Two Avaya IP addresses to cofigure ito the servers. 9 Avaya S8700 media server cofiguratio The followig plaig form items are arraged i the order i which they are eeded durig server cofiguratio. For a illustratio of these items, see Figure 1 o page -7 for Multi-Coect or Figure 2 o page -8 for IP Coect. Each etry is idetified with a alphaumeric referece. For the Copy Settigs scree Scree 1 Select Cofiguratio Method Use this scree to select the method for cofigurig the server. There are three optios for cofigurig a server. Durig the cofiguratio oe of the three will be selected. A brief descriptio of each of the optios is icluded here for clarity. Cofigure all services usig the wizard. This optio will cotiue with the Set Idetities scree ad step through each subsequet scree i order. This optio should always be used for the first server istallatio. NOTE: This is ot the Avaya Istallatio Wizard. This is the traditioal, step by step, cofigure server process. Cofigure idividual Services. This optio opes a scree that allows the user to idividually select ay oe of the subsequet cofigure screes ad go directly to it. This optio will geerally be used after software upgrades to populate added fields/screes. This optio ca also be used, after iitial cofiguratio, to go directly to a scree ad chage data. Copy cofiguratio iformatio from the duplicated server. This optio opes a secod scree to eter data for the duplicatio lik. See items 5h-j below. This optio allows the user to copy iformatio from a already cofigured server. This optio will oly be used to cofigure the secod server of a istallatio. NOTE: This optio requires that both servers have the same issue of software, the duplicatio cable betwee servers coected, ad the duplicatio iterface up o the server beig copied from. 2i Server Separatio (See item 2b) The corporate LAN iterface of both servers is o the same subet?{} NOTE: Whe the servers are o differet subets the Active Server IP address will ot be cofigured i subsequet screes. For the Set Server Idetities scree NOTE: Whe the servers are co-located they must be o the same subet. Whe the servers are separated they may be o differet subets. 9

10 Server ames DEFAULTS There are o defaults for these items. These items should be completed for both server cofiguratio types (Multi-Coect ad IP Coect) These ames should also be admiistered o ay relevat corporate DNS servers. This iformatio must be supplied by the corporate LAN admiistrator. Do ot guess at a ame, it could coflict with a existig ame. Spaces are ot allowed. 4a Name of server 1{}: 4b Name of server 2{}: 4c Active server ame{}: Not applicable if server separatio is implemeted ad the servers are o differet subets. Etheret iterface fuctios The Etheret fuctio assiged to a physical iterface jack are flexible. There are five physical iterface jacks (Etheret 0 through Etheret 4) that ca be assiged o the S8700 media server. There are up to five differet fuctios that eed to be assiged to a physical jack. They are: Cotrol Network A (CNA), provides etwork for trasmissio of cotrol messages betwee servers ad port etworks. Cotrol Network B (CNB), provides duplicated (high/critical reliability oly) etwork for trasmissio of cotrol messages betwee servers ad port etworks. Duplicatio lik, provides Etheret duplicatio lik betwee servers. Service port, provides direct Etheret coectio for service. Customer corporate LAN, provides access to servers from the corporate LAN. Depedig o which cofiguratio ad which reliability optio is istalled the Etheret fuctio assigmet will vary. Multi-Coect With the Multi-Coect cofiguratio, CNB is oly provided for high ad critical reliability cofiguratios; the others are always preset. IP Coect With IP Coect cofiguratios the CNA ad Corporate LAN fuctios are provided via the customers LAN. Cosequetly, both of these fuctios are assiged to oe Etheret Iterface. Also, IP Coect is oly available i a Duplex cofiguratio which does t use CNB. NOTE: For Etheret iterface fuctios, always use the defaults uless specifically istructed to do otherwise. Physical cablig will have to match what is etered here. 4d Cotrol Network A {Etheret 0}: Use the default for all cofiguratios. 10
