What s next?
Questions to be asked 1. Should Codema continue the Think Energy campaign? 2. Have we achieved our objectives in Civic Offices? 3. Where do we roll out the campaign? 4. How do we finance the campaign?
1. Should Codema continue the Think Energy campaign? YES, and here are the benefits: Support John Ryan with his ideas and make him look good in front of his manager opens new doors for other projects he needs to be an Ambassador for Codema! Great working relationship with IS, FM, canteen & security staff and Communications team at DCC ( a lot of help during energy awareness days) potential for targeted news articles and announcement outside Think Energy New contacts through Think Energy Ambassador Programme in new locations (Marrowbone Lane etc) Positive feedback from Michael Philips means guaranteed core funding from DCC Communicate who we are and what we do successfully to enhance our profile and open up new opportunities
2. Have we achieved our objectives in Civic Offices? YES and NO: 1. Raise awareness given the statistics on staff engagement, we did raise awareness (but difficult to measure) 2. Increase understanding of energy use specifically following the workshops and energy awareness days, we did achieve this with some people 3. Change behaviour and consequently save energy and cost difficult to say as no energy walkabout was conducted to observe standby energy again; there was a decrease of 8% (?) in comparison to last year but how much is due to behavioural change?
3. Where do we roll out the campaign? Where we are asked to do so: DCC Libraries John Ryan initiated the first meeting with the libraries with a successful first presentation. DCC Leisure Centres Cormac Healy (Poppintree) has asked to roll out the campaign and develop a training session with specific actions. Philip White (Finglas) is interested and needs help to communicate the message to staff. Jim Beggans is supportive. DCC Fire Brigades difficult! Neil McCabe is known by other fire fighters, but wants to implement own Green Plan with own agenda. Hard to do his legwork. SDCC initial meeting with Maire in conjunction with EU project successful but where do we stand now? Involvement of OPW unclear as Codema not sat on a meeting yet. Current union action creates difficult environment. Initial meeting with Tallaght Library but little actions can be done. Must take broader approach and set up Think Energy Team in SDCC who can make decisions.

4. How do we finance the campaign? Some EU projects can be used DCC Libraries some of the material can be produced under ACE as part of the refurbishment of Kevin Street Library DCC Leisure Centres small actions can be financed under EPLACE but funding limitations/ very strict/ question every move DCC Fire Brigades no EU funding yet, maybe some leeway under EESI2020 if exemplar project goes ahead SDCC actions in Tallaght library can be financed under EPLACE but small budget and not enough to produce material for all libraries incl. DCC
Think Energy continuation: Vivien is developing a new step-by-step strategy; basis for BuildSmart deliverable Presentation to DCC Libraries (completed) Half-day workshop for all DCC Leisure Centres with lunch and tour of Poppintree (to be organised/eplace) Develop marketing material for lighting campaign PC campaign for Tallaght library but unclear how to go about implementation Clarify role of Henry/Pat and County Hall contacts
