2 About the Workshop The Georgia Society of Nursing Home Social Workers (GSNHSW) and the Georgia Health Care Association (GHCA) are the co-sponsors of the Georgia Society of Nursing Home Social Workers Customized Training Course. This course is the result of a lot of time and effort of Nursing Home Social Workers and Administrators defining the ever changing role and identifying the needs of the Nursing Home Social Worker. The new course design gives social workers a comprehensive outline of long-term health care social service duties and the tools and resources necessary to perform the duties. An "All Star Staff" will be presenting topics that have never been taught in the traditional Social Workers' spring course. Anyone involved in a social service position can benefit from the course. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting your career in health care, the course offers invaluable discussions, handout material and lectures on social services in nursing homes. Each class has a limited enrollment to ensure close interaction between the instructors and participants. Each faculty member is currently employed in long-term care or works closely with social workers in the long-term care setting. Who Should Attend Social Service Directors, Social Service Assistants, & Admissions Coordinators should attend. Pam is an R.N., has been a Director of Nursing, a Nursing Home Administrator, and now serves as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at the Georgia Health Care Association. She actually trains with the surveyors and is up-to-date on any changes made at the State or Federal level. Sandy Boland is recognized as one of the best speakers for Residents Rights and Advanced Directives in the state of Georgia. Her credentials include MSW from the University of Georgia, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, member of NASW and ACSW, Director of Geriatric Services for 9 years and a Social Services and Activities Consultant for 16 years. Cynthia Stice is a social worker consultant with many years experience. She works with, Inc. Tony Marshall is the President and CEO of the Georgia Health Care Association.
