Plan International is embarking on an ambitious and exciting change process, to make the organisation more relevant, bold, engaging and effective in a new global context. To achieve this, Plan International has committed to introducing this new role into its Executive Team. As a key member of the Executive Team and the Global Management Committee, the Director of Business Resources and Solutions will be expected to partner with other senior leaders across the organisation to lead on first class stewardship of our resources and operational performance, including accountability for expert IT solutions to strengthen Plan International s programme performance. The post-holder will bring her/his expertise and leadership skills to bear to ensure continuous improvement of business processes, high levels of user-satisfaction and cost effectiveness of business resources and solutions. Overall Dimensions of Role: The role has overall accountability for Finance and Accounts, Budget and Performance, IT, Shared Services, Procurement & Logistics and premises management. Partners with the organisation to ensure high-level and agile operational performance and sustainability Leads change management efforts with strategic thinking and analysis Ensures Plan International appropriately uses/allocates resources

2 Drives optimisation of existing IT-systems to serve Plan International s business requirements and introduces innovative digital solutions to operational challenges Advances right-sourcing and shared services across the Plan International federation Identifies and secures funding opportunities to achieve strategic objectives Key member of the Executive Team, the Global Management Committee and the Finance and Audit Committees of Plan International s governance structures Typical Responsibilities - Key End Results of Position: 1) Strategic Direction Provide high-level, expert strategic direction and advice to the organisation Partner with the CEO and Executive Team to design and deliver business resources and solutions strategies in line with the organisation s strategic goals Identify IT solutions and opportunities to support the delivery of the organisational strategy Provide relevant contextual and financial advice and where necessary, challenge decisions to ensure the organisation delivers its strategy Proactively leverage technology, knowledge and resources to enable the organisation to be as proactive, agile, efficient and effective as possible Assist in the review and challenge of business plans, new projects and grants as required Partner with HROD to use effective IT solutions to support the development of our workforce planning Lead the organisation in diversifying its funding base, identifying new funding opportunities and assessing the organisation s achievement of this Act as a change ambassador and proactively role-model continuous change to generate efficiency and the success of the organisation in changing contextual climates Harness business intelligence and technology to enable the organisation to assess and monitor its financial and management performance Provide high-level strategic direction based on evidence, statistics and changing contexts, not least in the dynamically changing technology environment. Mitigate and introduce innovative solutions as required Model and implement a culture of first-class stewardship of resources, management accountability and effective decision-making 2) Leadership Provide strong and effective leadership to the organisation Provide and promote inspiring and effective leadership to the Finance, IT, Shared Services, Procurement and Logistics functions

3 Lead change and promote a culture of continuous change and improvement, in addition to embedding a culture of innovation, efficiency and forward-thinking within the Business Resources and Solutions function Develop and maintain a strong financial and IT skill-base within the organisation, which is able to support and meet current requirements and anticipate future needs In collaboration with HROD, identify and develop a strong talent pipeline within the Business Resources and Solutions function Create and promote a culture where employees and other stakeholders, such as suppliers and customers, are able to understand and share the vision and aspirations of the organisation. Act as a leader and role model of the organisation s values, mission and culture change programmes. Be a dynamic member of the Executive Leadership Team, Global Management Committee Finance and Audit Committee Actively connect and collaborate with other Senior Managers across the wider Plan International federation Ensure that external relationships are well managed 3) Finance, Shared Services, IT, Procurement and Logistics Lead, manage and implement a strategy which enables a high performing, efficient and agile Business Resources and Solutions function Lead the development of a cohesive financial and management infrastructure and consistent framework to enable professional, cost-effective, agile and efficient financial and management within the business Develop a strategic IT function which continually monitors technological advances and generates and implements innovative solutions to enable the organisation to meet its goals Ensure service-level agreements are in place for all areas of Business Resources and Solutions Assess and recommend changes as a result of trends in business resources and its efficiency Take accountability for the organisation s fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities, ensuring they are met, and that the organisation is fully compliant, whilst acting as a strategic business partner Use reliable business intelligence, and evaluate business trends and changes in the operating context which may impact on all areas of infrastructure and processes Lead on the design of organisational budgets, ensuring they aligned with the strategy and direction of the organisation Aid effective decision-making by developing robust KPIs, reports and analysis Lead the management and mitigation of risk through the effective creation and deployment of robust standards and controls Constantly strive for and identify and promote value-for-money decision-making within all departments

4 Problem Solving: Responsible for aligning effective processes and services to the ambitious organisational strategy, values and direction Identify and partner with the organisation to deliver forward-thinking change and cost effectiveness Lead in identifying, mitigating and preventing potential high-risk global issues that could severely impact on the organisation and its operations, strategic achievement and reputation Lead and advise the organisation globally on complex business issues and influence ways of thinking Challenge current methods and global processes, constantly identifying cost saving and efficiency improvements for the organisation Manage and lead a complex, multi-functional team structure Communications and Working Relationships: Represent the organisation on the global stage Take responsibility for communicating complex and challenging decisions and processes globally Lead the organisation internally and externally Interact and provide leadership for all employees and senior managers globally Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, and Experience Required to Achieve Role s Objectives: Demonstrable experience in a senior-level role within an organisation of comparable complexity Clear experience of managing and leading a diverse set of departments/functions/teams Proven experience of working within an international/multicultural environment An experienced business partner with the ability to share knowledge, recommendations and experience, ensuring a high-performing, diverse, competitive and cost effective organisation A technology savvy leader who can harness emerging technologies for improved operational performance, strategic analysis, transparency and visualisation. Evidence of implementing Enterprise Resource Planning solutions (SAP preferable) that drive improvements in processes or ways of working Demonstrable track record of developing and delivering effective strategies for a diverse group of management/business departments CA, ACCA, GCMA or equivalent qualifications are an asset A strong, ambitious leader able to balance strategic vision with fiduciary responsibility and effective delivery A passion and commitment to the values and purpose of Plan International

5 Able to evidence ability to drive continuous change to achieve a high performing, forward thinking and agile organisation Knowledge and experience of working in a grants environment A strategic thinker, who is able to identify business improvements and lead their successful implementation Ability to adapt style from detail orientated to strategic picture when required.
