The UCF campus is located in Orlando, 13 miles from downtown and adjacent to one of the top research parks in the nation. The university also has 10 regional campuses throughout Central Florida and recently opened its College of Medicine. UCF is a rapidly growing metropolitan research university with more than 58,000 students and 10,000 employees, an operating budget of $1.3 billion, extramural research funding of $107 million, and an endowment of $125 million. In Fall 10, the freshman class had an average SAT score of 1240, The Burnett Honors College enrolled more than 1,550 students, and a record number of incoming National Merit Scholars placed UCF in the top 50 colleges and universities. The university offers 91 bachelor s, 92 master s, 29 doctoral programs, including a doctor of medicine program, and it confers more than 12,000 degrees a year. UCF is committed to innovative community partnerships, world-class research with local impact, and the integration of technology and learning. John C. 3 About the Provost Dr. Tony G. Waldrop Provost and Executive Vice President Tony Waldrop became Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Florida on July 30, 10, and was named Provost and Executive Vice President in August. In this position, he serves as the second-highest ranking officer of the university and provides academic leadership for the university s 12 colleges, multiple campuses, and research centers and institutes. Waldrop oversees academic support services and student services and is responsible for curriculum, academic planning, faculty appointments, faculty development, and promotion and tenure decisions. From 01 until joining UCF as Provost and Vice President in 10, he served as Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development and was Professor of Cell and Molecular Physiology at his alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). As Vice Chancellor, he was responsible for 12 universitywide research support offices and 15 research centers. Prior to his appointment at UNC, Waldrop spent 15 years at the University of Illinois, progressing from Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics to the university s Vice Chancellor for Research. During that time he spent six years as the Director of the Medical Scholars program, and later as Acting Regional Dean of the College of Medicine and the Interim Dean of the Graduate College. He attained the distinction of University Scholar, the premier recognition accorded to faculty members by their colleagues, and led the efforts that created a university-associated research park. Waldrop earned a baccalaureate in political science (1974), a master s in physical education (1980), and a doctoral degree in physiology (1981), all from UNC. His research has been supported by agencies including the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association, which selected him as an Established Investigator. His research interests are hypertension, developmental neurobiology, and the effects of hypoxia (low oxygen) on brainstem neurons, and he has published more than 100 peerreviewed journal articles and book chapters. His wife, Dr. Julee Briscoe Waldrop, was a Clinical Associate Professor in UNC s School of Nursing and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and is now a member of the faculty in the College of Nursing at UCF.

Vision The Vision: The heart of the CBA Vision is Quality Learning and Exploration The core of this vision is to: Provide an environment that nurtures learning and exploration Create opportunities for faculty to disseminate information Provide educational opportunities for students, businesses and the general public Provide a platform for many and various partnerships Nurturing Learning and Exploration The college is a catalyst for students, faculty and the general public to gain a better understanding of the various fields of business. Educational experiences inspire learning and encourage exploration. Dissemination of Information Students are encouraged, through the learning process, to gather information to be used by them in future business vocations. Both students and faculty are encouraged to pursue outlets to share new information within their fields and with business practitioners. Provide Educational Opportunities Degree-seeking individuals are provided with curricula leading to baccalaureate, master s and doctoral programs. The college is also committed to providing more opportunities with structured learning experiences that certify non-degree-seeking individuals as having accomplished a minimum requirement for a selected career. Provide a Platform for Partnerships The college is engaged in specific areas of excellence that provide opportunities for learning, exploration, and sharing. These specific areas of excellence take the form of centers and institutes, and selected niche areas of college units. II. Mission The Mission: The College of Business Administration advances the university s mission and goals in providing intellectual leadership through research, teaching and service. The college is striving to enhance graduate programs, while maintaining the quality of undergraduate programs designed to service an exceptionally large student population. The college delivers research and quality business education programs at the undergraduate, master s, doctoral and executive levels to citizens of the State of Florida and to select clientele nationally and internationally. The college s faculty of scholar-teachers is committed to providing the academic community with highquality contributions in disciplined-based scholarship and instructional development. The college delivers quality teaching in comprehensive academic programs that build on the university s foundation in the arts and sciences. These programs are designed to provide students with competencies, skills and knowledge that serve the business community s national and international needs. Service to its community is an important extension of the teaching and research mission of the college. The college also engages in mutually enriching partnerships with the business community. The College of Business Administration is committed to and embraces academic and cultural diversity, the free expression of ideas, ethical behavior, quality of all people and the dignity of the individual. Goals Undergraduate Program To deliver comprehensive undergraduate education and be among the highly respected state-supported, metropolitan, accredited business degree programs in the United States. Masters Program To deliver innovative, competitive master s programs in specialized and high demand areas of business. Doctoral Program To provide doctoral-level research skills and knowledge for individuals who desire to conduct research and teaching in higher education. Research To create and disseminate quality research that results in recognition to the college and the university and attracts external funding. Ethics To promote ethical awareness and encourage ethical behavior across the CBA community. Executive Development Center To offer a high quality educational and training experience to professionals and executives. Partnerships And Service To collaborate with Central Florida s business community, as well as national and international academic and professional organizations, in order to fulfill our mission. Fundraising To secure financial support for college priorities. Marketing and Communications To enhance and promote the image and brand of the college and its programs. Alumni Relations To maintain relationships with alumni to foster and encourage current and future support for the college. Faculty Development To provide opportunities for faculty development in research, teaching and service. Facilities and Equipment To develop and maintain technologically advanced facilities and equipment that supports research and learning. Diversity To pursue culturally diverse students, faculty and staff. Administrative Operations To deliver operational excellence for faculty, students and staff.

He is quoted in the media frequently and his research has brought national recognition to the college. Finance Financial Literacy efforts Expand financial literacy further into UCF by promoting Personal Finance course (elective) to students. Management Business in Ethics The college is committed to teaching business ethics at the undergraduate and graduate level, and has three endowed professorships. Marketing Professional Selling Program Top marketing students chosen for program each year Students paired with Corporate Partner Mentors The professional selling team won third place at the National Collegiate Sales Competition. 100 percent job placement Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate The college recently started a Master of Science in Real Estate. The Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate tied for sixth place out of 40 schools, according to rankings released by the International Council of Shopping Centers. Devos Sports Business Management Program The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES) researches and publishes a variety of studies, including annual studies of student-athlete graduation rates and racial attitudes in sports, as well as the internationally recognized Racial and Gender Report Card, an assessment of hiring practices in coaching and sport management in professional and college sport. The reports and comments by the director are widely quoted in the media throughout the year. As part of their degree program, students in the DeVos Program spend the week prior to the opening of classes rebuilding homes in New Orleans. During the year, most students spend their break rebuilding in NOLA. To date, they have spent 30 weeks there since December 06. The program was named the #1 MBA Program in the nation for service by the Graduate Admissions Council. In, it was named one of the organizations that have most affected fair play in America by the Institute for International Sport. Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation In February, UCF hosted the inaugural Future of Entrepreneurship Education summit. Each year the CEI hosts student competitions that fosters the entrepreneurship spirit (King of the Court & the Joust) Courses Cornerstone Every undergraduate student is required to work in teams and complete a service learning project. The students make an enormous economic impact as more than $1 million goes back into the community each year as students raise money, secure in-kind donations, teach classes and volunteer their time to nonprofit organizations. 7 Dean of the College of Business Administration Position Description The University of Central Florida invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Business Administration. This position reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President. The UCF College of Business Administration offers programs at the bachelor s, master s, doctoral and executive levels to 7,816 undergraduate and 819 graduate students. The college has 1 fulltime and 16 part-time faculty members within the Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting; the Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate; the departments of Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing; and DeVos Sport Business Management. The dean provides the vision and leadership required to fulfill the mission of the college and to achieve its goals in teaching, research and service. The dean is expected to work with faculty and staff members to offer quality academics, lead the private fundraising efforts of the college and increase research funding. In addition, as a member of the Council of Deans, the dean is considered to be a university leadership position.
