3 2010 Empoyee Benefits A summary of a Research Report by the Society for Human Resource Management Economy Affects Empoyee Benefits According to a new survey of human resource professionas, the vast majority of their organizations have been impacted by the recent economic recession. So it s no surprise empoyee benefits have fet the squeeze. The 2010 survey of human resource professionas was conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in February. Coonia Life sponsored this annua empoyee benefits survey for the third consecutive year. Impact of Economic Downturn on Organizations 66% To Some Extent 29% To Large Extent 5% To No Extent 95 percent of organizations report being affected by the current economic situation. 6 Concusions Athough more empoyers said their benefits offerings were negativey impacted by the economy this year, the 2010 SHRM study found that empoyee benefits remained reativey steady in The fact that empoyers have not made drastic reductions in their benefits pans is encouraging. Benefits remain an important infuencer of job satisfaction. Making sure empoyees understand their benefits packages becomes even more critica in ight of workers increased responsibiity for decision-making and the impending changes in heath care egisation. Empoyers have an unprecedented opportunity to maximize the vaue of the benefits they re offering by heping empoyees better understand and appreciate their benefits packages Empoyee Benefits: Examining Empoyee Benefits in the Midst of a Recovering Economy The 2010 SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) Empoyee Benefits Survey was conducted in February 2010, from a randomy seected sampe of the organization s membership database.
