Our vision To increase the understanding and application of effective Asset Care management, by providing training services to our clients and industry. Asset Care is a process of evaluating the health of an industrial plant or equipment, monitoring its condition and using the data gained to make decisions. These decisions can optimise production, extend asset life, ensure safe operation and minimise maintenance costs. Recognition We are an Approved Training Body with AINDT, allowing us to provide recognised training toward AINDT certification. We are also an examination centre for Condition Monitoring and are in the process of becoming an Authorised Qualifying Body (AQB) in time for the launch of our training that will allow us to conduct both CM and NDT examinations as part of our offering. Certification Certifications are used to demonstrate a person s competence against set criteria. AINDT is the Australian National Certification Body, providing certification in accordance with AS ISO 9712 and ISO 18436. This means that if you become certified through AINDT, you will receive a certification that verifies that you have fulfilled the requirements of those relevant standards. Certifications like those issued by AINDT have expiry dates. AINDT certifications expire after 5 years, thereby requiring you to re-certify and demonstrate your ongoing competence. Why become certified? Demonstrate your competence Have an independent body evaluate your competence Meet employer / client requirements Improve your profile and job prospects How to get your certification With AINDT the requirement varies slightly depending on what you are trying to become certified in, as specified in two guidelines published by AINDT called Guide to Qualification and Certification for NDT and CM. Below is a list outlining the requirements for NDT and CM certification: Successful completion of approved training Pass AINDT examinations Completion of a visual acuity test (applicable to NDT) Evidence of practical experience using the relevant method Completed certification application form Complete an interview (only applicable for CM, this is organised after you apply for certification) How ALS Training Academy can help you Our certified training courses have been developed specifically to help you acquire the knowledge and skills you require to become a competent technician. During each course you can: Complete your AINDT approved training course Sit your AINDT examinations Complete a Visual Acuity test Complete a certification application form Our trainers are happy to help you complete your AINDT certification application form and talk you through the process. When applying for certification please remember that AINDT is the certification body that determines if you meet the certification requirement, not ALS Training Academy. But we are there to help you where we can. What do you get? We want your experience to be as painless as possible, so everything you will need to complete the course is provided. Your course enrolment includes: Full training course (lunch and morning tea provided) Training course certificate upon completion (recognised by AINDT) Participation in AINDT certification examinations Student Textbook Student Workbook Access to our online version of the course and prerequisite materials for 6 months: Participation in our online discussion group When attending our certified courses, you should wear a long sleeved shirt and enclosed shoes. Magnetic Particle Testing Level 2 (MT2 Multisector) CERTIFIED COURSE Description This course is intended to provide you with knowledge and skills on the widely used method of Magnetic Particle Testing (MT). This method of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is highly efficient in identifying surface or near-surface discontinuities in parts and components made of ferromagnetic material. The Magnetic Particle Testing course will provide you the theoretical understanding of magnetism and how it applies to NDT. You will acquire the skill and knowledge on selection and application of different magnetisation techniques as well as, interpretation and evaluation of indications. Those discontinuities which were hidden from the eyes become visible for judgment and required corrective action. It is important that once you complete your training you can apply your new knowledge and skills in real life situations. The goal of this course is to provide you with not only the how but also the why aspects to Magnetic Particle Testing. By knowing why you need to undertake certain processes, you will understand their importance and what to do when you re faced with scenarios you have not seen before. Key Learning Outcomes By the end of this course, you will be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of the key elements of the use of MT, including: Magnetism and magnetic fields Methods of magnetisation Magnetic particle testing equipment Magnetic media and methods Safety considerations and system control Interpretation and evaluation of indications Recording and reporting requirements Magnetic particle testing related code and standards Writing magnetic particle testing instruction Conduct: MT using electromagnetic yokes Tests using fluorescent and non-fluorescent media MT on magnetic bench using different techniques Instruction writing for different testing scenarios Prerequisites To complete this course successfully, you will need to have materials knowledge and the ability to complete basic algebra. Penetrant Testing Level 2 (PT2 Multisector) CERTIFIED COURSE Description Penetrant testing (PT) is one of the common Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods utilised to find discontinuities open to the surface. This method employs different chemicals and processes to get a visible indication from surface-breakings in non-porous materials such as metals, plastics, glass, etc. In this method tiny surface discontinuities which are not detectable by visual inspection show colourful indications. The Penetrant Testing course will provide you with the theoretical understanding of penetrant and development systems and how they apply to NDT. You will acquire the skill and knowledge of the selection and application of different penetrant and development techniques, as well as the interpretation and evaluation of indications. In this course you will not only apply the techniques, but also write work instructions for different testing scenarios. It is important that once you complete your training you can apply your new knowledge and skills in real life situations. The goal of this course is to provide you with not only the how but also the why aspects to Penetrant Testing. INFORMATIONAL COURSE Reliability Based Condition Monitoring Description With challenges in the global economy and cost pressure on operating mines and plants, it is imperative to apply best practices to plant reliability management. Condition monitoring, where correctly applied forms an integral part of any reliability improvement and cost management program. ALS has worked with the industry over many years to optimise the returns from their condition monitoring investments and is now able to provide training in Reliability Management, Condition Monitoring Specifications and Applications, Program Optimisation and Root Cause Analysis. In many situations, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance has not been applied correctly and this has resulted in unnecessary work, on-going reliability issues and difficulty in understanding plant and equipment condition. In other cases, condition monitoring has only been applied at the fire fighting level without a focus on continuous improvement in plant reliability. Come and understand the principles of a Reliability Based Condition Monitoring Program based on industry best practices, as embodied in ISO 17359 2011 and a suite of other condition monitoring standards. These principles are complemented by real world practical experience about what works and what doesn t work. ALS presenters are skilled communicators and experienced engineers providing a highly interactive and informative experience.
