Getting started Your username and password Your College username and password were emailed to you in August you ve probably already used them to enrol using CampusConnect. You ll need them to access most College services. You can enrol at portal.rhul.ac.uk if you haven t done so already. You can change your password at any time by visiting passwordmanager.rhul.ac.uk. If you can t remember your login details, contact us. CampusNet CampusNet is our campus Wi-Fi network. With CampusNet you can do everything you would on the internet at home and 1. Access course materials including our Virtual Learning Environment at moodle.rhul.ac.uk and digital library resources 2. Save work to your personal network drive, accessible anywhere 3. Send files to print to MFDs (Multi-Function Devices our combined printer/ scanners) across campus royalholloway.ac.uk/printing Getting connected 1. Connect to the CampusNet wireless network and open a web browser 2. Your browser will automatically redirect to a registration page 3. Enter your College username and password when prompted. Where can I find the books I need for my course? Languages, Literatures, Cinema, Theatre, Fine Arts, Music, the Archives service and special collections are part of the Founder s Library. Management, Economics, Science, Social Sciences and History are part of the Bedford Library. You can also find information specific to your course at libguides.rhul.ac.uk. Your College card acts as your library card and is registered automatically. All you need to do is take the books you would like to borrow to the Self Service machines in the library and follow the instructions. Undergraduate students can borrow up to 15 books at once (including three term loans). How do I find resources? Visit royalholloway.ac.uk/library at home or on campus and use LibrarySearch to help you discover all the resources available. There are a number of video tutorials that will help you to get the most from the Library and its resources, from the basics of locating a book to searching individual databases. Alternatively, the Library provides a number of free one-hour Library and research skills courses which you can sign up to. Campus life Collect your College card You ve probably already started Enrolment with Royal Holloway using Campus Connect. If so, great once you ve finished Enrolment you can pick up your College card. You can finish Enrolment and collect your College card in the Windsor building any day during Welcome Week between 10am and 6pm. You don t have to pick it up straight away. Paying for things on campus Your College Card is home to your Campus Account a quick and easy way to pay for things on campus. It s the easiest saving you ll make as a student, simply top up your card and start saving. You ll automatically save paying 20% (VAT) on most food and hot drinks in College-run catering outlets when you use your Campus Account. If you re living in Founder s, Reid or Kingswood you ll receive an even bigger 50% discount on food and drink in Founder s and KW s dining halls. To get started with your Campus Account, all you need to do is top up your card. You can do this at one of our automatic topup machines around campus or set up online management of your account. To set up your online account 1. Go to upay.co.uk/createaccount.aspx 2. Enter Client ID: 76 3. Your user ID is the last six digits of your student ID number and follow instructions on screen. Once you ve topped up your card, just present it when you re asked to pay. Banking We ve got our own branch of Santander right here on campus, which offers a full range of banking services, including student current accounts, savings accounts and so on. The Santander branch on campus also has a ATM machine, which offers free withdrawals if you have a UK bank account. NatWest, Barclays and HSBC have branches in Egham, while Lloyds has a branch in Staines-upon- Thames. Egham and Staines also host branches of most major building societies (such as Nationwide). 9
