1 How to Access the Economics Undergraduate Lab Please note that only students in a few selected courses will be able to activate their Economics Undergraduate Lab account. If this account is not listed under your available services when you login to your Passport York account, please check with your course director to see if the course requires activating this account. If you are eligible to activate this account and it still does not show under your new services please contact UIT helpdesk at [email protected] or call or extension When you become a York student and receive a student number, you can activate your Passport York account and use the computer services on campus including the Economics Undergraduate Lab. You can activate your Economics Undergraduate Lab by following steps in this manual. 1. Activate your Passport York Account Please note that you can activate your accounts from home or anywhere that you can access Internet. You don t have to come to the campus to activate your account and you won t be able to activate your account in the Department labs, as you need to activate your account in advance before you can log into the computers in the Economics Undergraduate Lab. You can do it online by following these steps: 1. Go to the website: 2. Click on Manage My Services (previously MAYA ) 3. Click on Student Sign Up!
2 4. Type in your student number and your date of birth as YYYYMMDD in designated boxes and click on Login. 5. You will be prompted to choose a username for your account. This username will be your Passport York Account (previously MAYA account) and it will be the username for all your other accounts and services such as your Economics Undergraduate Lab Account, your address, Dial-In Modem Account and etc. Please pay attention to the Username Guidelines on the web page before choosing your username. It is recommended that you choose a username that includes your first or last name, for example the first letter of your first name plus your last name. Type your new username and click on Set Username button.
3 2. Activate Your Economics Undergraduate Lab Account So far, you have activated your Passport York. Now you can activate your Economics Undergraduate Lab account. Please note that you can repeat these steps to activate any other services that are available to you. 1. On Manage My Services page, click on Activate New Service. Note: The list of the services that you have activated will be shown on the left side of the screen with a look like the picture below. next to them. If you have not activated any services yet, your screen will 2. When you click on Activate New Service you will see the list of the services that are available to you. Click on the Activate button next to Economics Undergraduate Lab. Note: If you don t see the Economics Undergraduate Lab in the list, please contact UIT Client Support Services (HelpDesk) located at Computing Commons, William Small Centre or call
4 3. You will be prompted to set a new password for your Economics Undergraduate Lab account. Please make sure to read the Password Guidelines on the page before choosing your password. 4. When you click on the Set Password button, a request for creating the account will be sent to the Economics server automatically. The Economics Undergraduate Lab will be shown on the left side of the screen with an X next to it, that means the request has been sent and the account will be created. Most requests are processed within an hour, but some may take up to 24 hours if the servers are not available or the network connections are very slow. When your account is created you can use the Economics Undergraduate Lab with using your Passport York username and the password you just typed in. You should be able to use the lab within a few hours.
