Evening Event Thursday, 11th of September starting at 19:00 Keynote Palais Niederösterreich Herrengasse 13, 1010 Vienna www.palais-niederoesterreich.at We take the liberty to invite you to a dinner at the Palais Niederösterreich. Palais Niederösterreich, the old Landhaus in the Herrengasse has had a very eventful history. It was originally the home of the so-called Stände, the political representatives of upper classes, knights, prelates and towns. The Stände were the precursors of the Lower Austrian Provincial Parliament. The Stände acquired the Landhaus in 1513 in order to be near the reigning prince and to hold assemblies in Vienna. Precious interiors such as the Landhauskapelle and the Gotisches Zimmer have remained from this late Gothic building. The Großer Saal with its vault was erected in the middle of the 16th century. This conference hall was built in renaissance style and decorated in the baroque period with precious frescos that symbolise glory and honour. In the 18th and 19th centuries the large Landhaussaal was a very popular ballroom and concert hall, where many important first performances took place. In 1861 the Lower Austrian Provincial Parliament took over the building from the Stände, after this representative body of the people came to an end in the revolution year of 1848. On 21st of October 1918 the Provisional National Assembly of the independent Austrian State was constituted in the Landhaus after the end of the First World War. The Landhaus was used by the representatives of the people from Vienna and Lower Austria up to the year 1921. The Landhaus has belonged to the Lower Austrian Provincial Parliament since 1st of January 1922, when Lower Austria gained independence from Vienna. lecture will be held in German, simultaneous translation in English Friday, 12th of September 09:00-09:45 Is modelling becoming obsolete? o. Between 2002 and 2004 the Landhaus was lovingly renovated and restored following guidelines for the protection of historical monuments. 12 13

Supply Chain Management with ADOlog Supply Chain Design Supply Chain Operations Reference Model Supply Chain Controlling Quality Management Supply Chain Analysis Strategic Simulation Hall of Sciences Wollzeile 27a 1010 Vienna www.aula-wien.at The Aula der Wissenschaften (Hall of Sciences) has always been a meeting place and a place to share knowledge. Dating back to the 17 th century, the building and its lecture halls were used by the university. On the top floor, the early baroque building houses the impressive hall of the Jesuit theatre and has done so since it was first built. The Austrian State Printing House had its home there and during the 18 th century the Wiener Zeitung the oldest daily newspaper in the world had its editorial department on those highly traditional premises also. Although the building was recently renovated (2003-2006) it still maintains natural atmosphere with its pillars, arches and vaulted ceilings. Spacious areas and glass surfaces provide the kind of transparency that is also inherent in state-of-the-art science: progressive, open, an escape from the elitist, intellectual ivory tower. A knowledge-based information society needs meeting places that stimulate communication and understanding among companies, research institutes and interest groups. As a communication site, it aims to bring about collaboration that transcends subject boundaries and involves different occupational groups. As a central nodal point, it serves to bring together protagonists from the political, business and scientific fields and spans social networks. In a stylish, historic atmosphere, the Aula der Wissenschaften facilitates a dialogue with the general public and promotes scientific discourse. Jesuit Hall The appeal of the 800 m² hall of the former Jesuit theatre on the second floor has an impressive fresco ceiling which covers the majority of the room.
