Migratin Prcedure The migratin is described in detail in the Brcade Netwrk Advisr Migratin Guide. Fr yur cnvenience, this sectin lists high-level steps required fr the migratin in a Windws envirnment, including: Review the pre-migratin requirements fr yur platfrm, making sure that: A versin f Brcade DCFM that meets migratin requirements is installed n yur server. The fabric has FOS 5.0.x r EOS 9.6 r later running n all switches in the fabric. Yu install Netwrk Advisr n the same system as yur current management applicatin. NOTE: Ensure that all instances f the DCFM client are clsed n the management server and n remte wrkstatins. Insert the Netwrk Advisr installatin DVD int the DVD-ROM drive n a Windws r UNIX server and fllw nscreen directins. Install Netwrk Advisr and use the wizard t migrate data and settings (culd take several minutes) and t perfrm ther cnfiguratin tasks listed n the Welcme screen. Start the Netwrk Advisr server and client. Once all the Netwrk Advisr services are started, yu can lg in. Yu can use yur Admin User ID and passwrd frm DCFM. DCFM 10.x license keys are frward cmpatible in Netwrk Advisr 11.0. This means that DCFM 10.x license keys are migrated and cnsidered as SAN-nly license keys. Existing DCFM custmers can upgrade t SAN + IP using a valid license key during migratin r they can upgrade t SAN + IP at a later date by installing a new license key. Belw is a summary f the supprted DCFM -> Netwrk Advisr license migratins: DCFM Enterprise 10.3.x and 10.4.x licenses are migrated t Netwrk Advisr fr SAN Enterprise licenses. DCFM Prfessinal Plus 10.3.x and 10.4.x licenses are migrated t Netwrk Advisr fr SAN Prfessinal Plus r Enterprise licenses. DCFM Prfessinal 10.3.x and 10.4.x licenses are migrated t Netwrk Advisr fr SAN Prfessinal. Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 5 f 24

Migratin Facts All DCFM data, including discvered fabrics, perfrmance mnitring data, events, firmware images, etc. are migrated frm DCFM t Netwrk Advisr, except fr the fllwing: Client lgin infrmatin (saved username and passwrd and save passwrd selectin) Client fnt size Tls menu custmizatins Client/Server cmmunicatin prts When migrating frm DCFM Prfessinal r Prfessinal Plus, these additinal items will nt be migrated t Netwrk Advisr: Plling interval and memry size custmizatins SAN size setting Brcade Netwrk Advisr fr SAN Enterprise supprts a cmbinatin f pure FOS, pure M-EOS, mixed FOS/M-EOS fabrics, and hst/hba management. Sme differences frm Brcade DCFM (discussed in mre detail later) are: Packaging f PstgreSQL database (in place f Sybase and Derby) Rle-Based Access Cntrl (RBAC) enhancements Authrizatin, Authenticatin, and Accunting (AAA) enhancements Fault management enhancements Custmers upgrading t Brcade Netwrk Advisr Enterprise are required t purchase a service agreement with a minimum ne-year term. Remte Client Launch This sectin describes the shrtcut menu upgrade frm DCFM 10.3.x/10.4.x t Netwrk Advisr 11.0.0 during remte client launch. Fllwing are the steps t perfrm while ding the upgrade frm DCFM 10.3.x/10.4.x t Netwrk Advisr 11.0.0: 1) With DCFM 10.3.x/10.4.x installed n machine A, launch remte client frm machine B. The shrtcut menu is created with name DCFM 10.3.x/10.4.x. 2) Upgrade the server t Netwrk Advisr 11.0.0 n machine A. 3) Frm machine B, launch the remte client in a brwser windw, NOT by clicking the DCFM 10.3.x/10.4.x shrtcut menu icn. Anther shrtcut menu is created with the name Netwrk Advisr 11.0.0. 4) If yu want t remve the DCFM 10.3.x/10.4.x shrtcut menu, right-click n the menu item and select Delete. Fr details abut migrating t DCFM 10.4, see the Brcade DCFM Installatin and Migratin Guide fr versin 10.4.x. Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 6 f 24

PLANNING As with all technlgy upgrades in the data center, planning is a critical part f the prcess. When yu are migrating frm ne sftware applicatin t anther, yu need t find ut as much as yu can abut the new applicatin and hw it differs frm the applicatin yu are currently using, that is, Brcade DCFM. Then decide the right time t upgrade and start putting a task list, task wners, and a timeline in place. Migratin Cnsideratins There are several things t cnsider when yu are making the decisin t migrate t Brcade Netwrk Advisr: Back up the Brcade DCFM server befre starting the migratin. T d this, pen the Optins dialg bx frm the DCFM client: 1) select Server > Optins frm the client menu bar, 2) select the Server Backup categry n the left side f the Optins dialg bx, 3) enter a value in the Output Directry field (if needed) and click Backup Nw. It is recmmended that yu capture Technical Supprt infrmatin fr the switches in yur fabrics. See Technical Supprt Infrmatin later in this dcument. The supprted database in Netwrk Advisr is PstgreSQL. See the Databases sectin later in this dcument fr details. Rles and Privileges In bth Netwrk Advisr 11.0 and in DCFM, privileges are assigned t rle and are nt directly assigned t a user. Hwever, in DCFM, users are assigned a single rle, and in Netwrk Advisr, users may be assigned multiple rles. Each rle in turn can cntain read-write privileges and read-nly privileges. Default rles, their assciated privileges, and cnslidated privileges fr Netwrk Advisr are utlined in the prduct dcumentatin. Firewall Cnsideratins Certain prts must be pen between the Brcade Netwrk Advisr client and server prcesses. Als ther prts culd ptinally be expsed fr ther services via the intranet cnnectin n the Netwrk Advisr server, that is, SMI-S, SNMP, HTTP, SSL, telnet, SSH, and FTP. If a firewall is put between the Netwrk Advisr server and the managed devices, investigate which prts must be pened and which are ptinal. D nt cnsider just day-t-day management, but als the services listed abve. Fr details, see the Brcade Netwrk Advisr User Manual. CLIENT INTERFACE Users f DCFM will be familiar and cmfrtable with the Netwrk Advisr interface as mentined earlier. Figure 1 shws the Netwrk Advisr main windw with Dashbard, SAN, and IP tabs. Display f the tabs is cntrlled by the active licensing ptin; the Dashbard tab is available in all ptins. Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 7 f 24

DIFFERENCES TO NOTE The feature/functin differences between DCFM and Netwrk Advisr mentined earlier are discussed briefly belw. Databases The path f migrating data and settings frm surce t destinatin happen thrugh the Netwrk Advisr 11.0 installer. The cnfiguratin wizard aut-detects any earlier installed versin path fr migratin and the installatin directry is checked fr credentials such as supprted versin. Once validatin is successfully cmpleted, data migratin starts. The prerequisites fr database migratin frm DCFM 10.3.x/10.4.x t Netwrk Advisr 11.0 are: Bth surce and target shuld be installed n the same system. Service f the surce versin shuld be running. Bth remte and lcal client f surce applicatin shuld be shut dwn befre migratin. Nte that yu can click the D nt migrate histrical perfrmance data check bx fr a faster data migratin prcess and smaller database migrated (check bx is shwn grayed ut in Figure 3). Figure 3. Data Migratin screen in the cnfiguratin wizard, shwing the prgress dialg bx Migratin cntinues even if a minr errr ccurs, whereas it is abrted if a majr errr ccurs. In either case, errrs are lgged in a lg file lcated in <installatin dir>/lgs/cw.lg. If the migratin failed due t a majr errr, an errr dialg is displayed. On successful cmpletin f migratin prcess, a cnfirmatin dialg is displayed in prgress dialg f the cnfiguratin wizard. After migratin, DCFM 10.3.x/10.4x is partially uninstalled; even if an lder versin f DCFM is installed n the same machine and yu chse nt t migrate, legacy DCFM is partially uninstalled n the machine. Yu can recver DCFM 10.3.x/10.4.x after the migratin if yu chse t. Cnsult prduct dcumentatin fr details. Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 9 f 24

Rle-Based Access Cntrl (RBAC) RBAC, althugh present in DCFM, is enhanced in Netwrk Advisr in the fllwing areas: Unified User Management fr IP and SAN envirnments As in DCFM, the user management interface is launched via the Users menu ptin. In Netwrk Advisr, the Users menu is relcated t the Server menu. Nte that the Users menu ptin is available nly fr users with the User Management privilege and Read-Only r Read-Write permissins. The Users windw has three tabs: Users, Plicy, and LDAP Authrizatin (see Figure 4). Figure 4. Users tab in Users windw Area Of Respnsibility (AOR) An AOR Manager allws users t place fabrics, hsts, prducts, prduct grups, and prt grups in management grups, which can then be assigned t Netwrk Advisr users. Users can manage nly the management grups assigned t them. What was called the resurce grup in DCFM is nw called the area f respnsibility in Netwrk Advisr, and is ne f the entities used in defining Netwrk Advisr RBAC. The AOR can cntain IP prducts in additin t all types f SAN prducts that were assigned t the resurce grup in DCFM. All available AORs are listed in the AOR table at the bttm right f the Users tab in the Users windw (see Figure 4). Rle /Privilege Management All available rles are listed in the Rles table at the bttm left f the Users tab in the Users windw (see Figure 4). The Rles table has the fllwing default rles (in additin t user-defined rles) fr SAN: SAN System Administratr Netwrk Administratr Security Administratr Zne Administratr Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 10 f 24

Operatr Security Officer Hst Administratr In a SAN + IP envirnment, the system rles are: SAN System Administratr IP System Administratr Netwrk Administratr Security Administratr Zne Administratr Operatr Security Officer Hst Administratr Reprt User Grup The DCFM default rle System Administratr is replaced with SAN System Administratr in Netwrk Advisr 11.0. User Accunt/Rle/Resurce Grup migratin Users withut rles r resurce grups are migrated hwever they will have nly SAN permissins; IP permissins will need t be added explicitly. All migrated users will have an active state. NOTE: IP permissins will be added t rles with User Management read-write permissins enabled. After migratin, the equal sign (=) in rle names will be replaced with the underscre character (_). If any user-defined rle is matched with any newly intrduced system rle in Netwrk Advisr, then it is migrated with name <Rle Name>_<Integer Value>_Migrated. The <Integer Value> generated is a randm value. If DCFM had a rle with the name <Rle Name> and the <Rle Name> text matches any f the newly intrduced default Netwrk Advisr rles, then the respective rle is migrated with same name. All resurce grups are migrated t AORs; resurce grups withut any members are migrated as empty AORs. The system resurce grup, All Fabrics, is migrated. Users assigned t resurce grups are migrated. After migratin, the equal sign (=) in resurce grup names will be replaced with the underscre character (_). If any user-defined resurce grup is matched with any newly intrduced system AOR in Netwrk Advisr, then it is migrated with name <Resurce Grup Name>_<Integer Value>_Migrated. The <Integer Value> generated is a randm value. If DCFM had a resurce grup with the name <Resurce Grup Name> and the <Resurce Grup Name> text matches any f the newly intrduced default Netwrk Advisr AORs, then the respective resurce grup is migrated with same name. All members (fabrics and hsts) f migrated resurce grups are als migrated. Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 11 f 24

Authrizatin, Authenticatin & Accunting (AAA) DCFM allws client-t-server authenticatin thrugh lcal user accunts r external servers and the authrizatin is entirely based n lcal mapping; in Netwrk Advisr, authrizatin and authenticatin are ptinally externalized. Accunting is still nt externalized and referenced frm lcally available infrmatin. Netwrk Advisr prvides ptins fr primarily authenticating user accunts against Terminal Access Cntrller Access-Cntrl System Plus (TACACS+) servers cnfigured externally n server hst machines r ther hsts reachable frm the Netwrk Advisr server. Authenticatin with TACACs+, RADIUS, LDAP, and Switch is supprted n Windws and Linux platfrms. Authenticatin with Windws dmain is supprted nly n Windws; authenticatin with an NIS/Passwrd file is supprted nly n Linux platfrms. The tab Authenticatin is replaced by the name AAA Settings, as shwn in Figure 5. Figure 5. AAA Settings tab in the Netwrk Advisr Server Cnsle Maintaining DCFM behavir, cnfiguring a lcal database as a secndary authenticatin, r failver, is applicable fr RADIUS, LDAP, and Switch. Netwrk Advisr 11.0 als supprts a lcal database r nne as secndary authenticatin fr TACACS+ servers. In the case f an LDAP server, in additin t Server nt reachable, ne mre failver ptin, User nt fund in LDAP, is addressed. In Netwrk Advisr, ne mre failver ptin, <RADIUS/TACACS+/LDAP> Authenticatin Failed, is intrduced fr RADIUS, TACACS+, and LDAP servers. Users can cnfigure TACACS+ and RADIUS servers t perfrm failver t the lcal database when: The <TACACS+/RADIUS> server is nt reachable <TACACS+/RADIUS> authenticatin fails DCFM supprts authrizatin by maintaining cnfiguratins in a lcal database. Netwrk Advisr allws user t authrize with external servers as an ptin by setting necessary parameters in external servers. Authrizatin via external server is turned ff by default. Authrizatin via an external server is turned n by setting the Authrizatin Preference ptin t Primary Authenticatin Server. Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 12 f 24

Enhancements t the audit trail have been added in Netwrk Advisr. As shwn in Figure 6, the Authenticatin Audit Trail (Display) has been renamed Audit Trail (Display) and the Audit Trail dialg bx als displays authrizatin settings fr audit purpses. In the Audit Trail windw, the Authenticatin Settings Changes tab has been renamed AAA Settings Changes and the fur new clumns have been added. Figure 6. AAA Settings tab in the Netwrk Advisr Server Cnsle and the Audit Trail windw Accunting behavir in Netwrk Advisr is the same as it is in DCFM, that is, user actins are accunted as part f applicatin events/internal events. An event is triggered during user authenticatin and fr any applicatin-specific peratins. The applicatin events raised by varius mdules are the way f accunting fr user actins in Netwrk Advisr. RBAC des nt mandate any such events and it is up t the mdules t decide which events t trigger. All accunting-related infrmatin is referenced frm the Netwrk Advisr lcal database and nt frm any cnfigured external server. In DCFM, security is nt enfrced nr is there any prvisin t enfrce security in cmmunicatin between the DCFM and LDAP servers. In rder t integrate security between the Netwrk Advisr server and LDAP server, yu can enable r disable security while adding r editing a particular LDAP server. The underlying standards used fr securing cmmunicatin are SASL using GSSAPI and TLS is supprted. By default the security cnfiguratin is disabled. When security is enabled, cmmunicatin is thrugh the secured channel, hwever Netwrk Advisr des nt perfrm hst name verificatin and certificate management frm Netwrk Advisr is nt supprted. Netwrk Advisr allws user t cnfigure the authenticatin prtcl between the Netwrk Advisr and LDAP servers. The supprted prtcls fr authenticatin are MD5 (the default) and Kerbers. Fault Management Netwrk Advisr uses the fllwing prtcls t cmmunicate t the device being managed t get fault infrmatin frm bth IP and SAN switches: Simple Netwrk Management Prtcl (SNMP) Netwrk Management Request/Respnse Unit (NMRU) fr M-EOS switches Netwrk Advisr receives events frm managed devices via the fllwing prtcls: SNMP traps, Syslg, and NMRU fr M-EOS switches. Master Lg The Master Lg displays bth IP and SAN events based n the current cntext (an ptin t view bth SAN and IP events irrespective f the current cntext is als prvided) and n user privileges are required. Events listed are limited t the user s AR. In Netwrk Advisr, the fllwing features are added t the features frm DCFM (nly the Paginatin feature has been remved): User acknwledgement f events Shw/Hide acknwledged events Freezing aut-scrlling f the Master Lg Events shwn are limited t the user s AOR Lcatin f the device crrespnding t the selected event Syslg shwn by default fr IP devices in the Master Lg The fllwing DCFM right-click menu ptins have been remved: Hide All, Hide Selectin, and Shw, E-mail -> Date. The fllwing right-click menu ptins have been added: Acknwledge, Unacknwledge, and Lcate. The Display Details right-click menu ptin has been renamed Prperties. Filtering Filters are migrated; the event filters that are cnfigured in a SAN-nly installatin needs t be mdified when upgrading t a SAN + IP installatin t include the IP prducts; therwise the IP events are nt shwn. Basic filtering cmbines the basic filtering ptins frm INM and DCFM. By default basic filtering includes all the prducts, the entire categry and severity, and n filtering n event descriptin. The filter specified is user specific. Based n the license, the SAN r IP r SAN and IP tabs are available in the Define Filter dialg bx, the SAN versin is shwn in Figure 7. Figure 7. Basic (SAN) tab in the Netwrk Advisr Define Filter dialg bx Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 14 f 24

The Advanced tab, shwn in Figure 8, is similar t the DCFM Advanced filtering tab. Sme f the changes are listed belw: Start Date can be used t display events that are lgged after this date; verrides the basic and ther advanced filter settings. The event actin is defined in the Event Actins dialg bx. The Include filter allws events in additin t thse allwed by the basic filter; the exclude filter excludes events meeting the exclude criteria even when allwed by the basic include filter. If the advanced filter event actin list is set, then events nt selected in the list are disallwed (but can be verridden by setting an include filter). Filtering can be based n the fllwing new clumns available in the Event Clumn: Area, Acknwledged, Origin, and Prduct Address. The Event Clumn lists all the clumns mentined in the Master Lg table. Figure 8. Advanced (SAN) tab in the Netwrk Advisr Define Filter dialg bx Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 15 f 24

Event Migratin The way events are stred in the DCFM server has changed with respect t the database schema in Netwrk Advisr; hence migratin needs t address the mapping f DCFM events t the new schema in Netwrk Advisr. All events frm the existing DCFM repsitry are migrated t new database tables with the new schema. DCFM keeps Syslg events (ther than audit events) in a separate table cmpared t ther events such as traps and applicatin events. All these events are merged t a single database table in Netwrk Advisr marking their rigin apprpriately based n the surce f the events: trap, Syslg, and applicatin events. DCFM user-cnfigured event strage values are retained during migratin. If the ld event strage values are same as the default values, then during migratin the default value changes t the new default value. All the archived data is als migrated when upgrading t Netwrk Advisr 11.0. Since the schema is different, the archived events file is migrated as a new file with a prefix Migrated_. There is n impact in migratin in severity mapping except that the severity named Panic in DCFM is changed t Emergency in all applicable entities such as events, filters, and plicies after migratin. INSTALLATION AND DEPLOYMENT Installing Netwrk Advisr Ensure that yu have yur DCFM serial number r a license key befre the installatin. Yu can install Netwrk Advisr by either: 1) Using the DVD 2) Dwnlading the sftware frm the www.brcade.cm (see Appendix A). Unlike DCFM, Netwrk Advisr 11.0 prvides a single installer, which allws cnfiguratin ptins such as chsing packages and installatin type via the cnfiguratin wizard. Fr detailed installatin prcedures, see the prduct dcumentatin. Running the Client Launch the Netwrk Advisr client either frm the Start menu r use the Web Start the Netwrk Advisr Client link n the Netwrk Advisr Web page. This displays the lgin screen. The default user name and passwrd are the same as they were fr DCFM: Administratr and passwrd, which is case sensitive. In sme cases, a netwrk may use Virtual Private Netwrk (VPN) r firewall technlgy, which can prhibit cmmunicatin between servers and clients. In ther wrds, a client can find a server, appear t lg in, but is immediately lgged ut because the server cannt reach the client. T reslve this issue, a set f prts need t be pened up in the firewall. Fr a list f these prts, see the Brcade Netwrk Advisr User in the sectin entitled, Management server and client. Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 16 f 24

Technical Supprt Infrmatin After installing Brcade Netwrk Advisr, take a snapsht t help with ptential supprt issues. Open the Server Management Cnsle t create a snapsht and perfrm these steps: 1) Click the Technical Supprt Infrmatin tab. Nte that the Technical Supprt Infrmatin tab is enhanced t prvide ptins t include r exclude the database and t select Full r Partial database. 2) Uncheck the Include Database ptin if yu wish. Or if yu leave it checked, click Partial r Full (see details belw). 3) In the Output Path text bx, specify the path t a lcatin in which t save the Netwrk Advisr server technical supprt infrmatin r brwse t a lcatin. 4) Click Capture t gather all the infrmatin, and then click Clse. Figure 10. DCFM Technical Supprt Infrmatin screen Since Brcade Netwrk Advisr manages bth SAN and IP, the database size and hence the supprt save may grw in terms f GBs f size and it may be tedius t get the entire supprt save fr trubleshting issues. The database ccupies the greatest amunt f space in Netwrk Advisr supprt save. In the database, arund 80% f the size is due t perfrmance statistics and events data, which typically are nt used fr trubleshting. Hence yu have the fllwing ptins fr capturing Technical Supprt infrmatin: T exclude the database cmpletely if yu d nt want t send entire database fr trubleshting T include the database cmpletely r partially, as required in mst cases; this is the default ptin Selecting Partial captures the database excluding Histrical Perfrmance Statistics data and Events data. Hwever, t get infrmatin frm recent Events and Stats, Netwrk Advisr wuld include 5000 and 2000 numbers f recrds frm EVENT_DETAILS_INFO view and Perfrmance stats tables respectively, by default. Lcal Client Files In previus DCFM releases, client lg files, supprt save files, and saved lgin infrmatin fr Web-started clients were placed in a flder named: <user hme directry>/<dcfm prduct name>/<server name> The equivalent files fr a lcal client were placed in: <user hme directry>/<dcfm prduct name> In Brcade Netwrk Advisr 11.0.0, files fr the lcal client are placed in: <user hme directry>/<netwrk Advisr>/lcalhst. The client file lcatins are the same fr Windws and Linux. Because f the new lcatin, the lcal client s saved lgin infrmatin (user name and passwrd) is nt preserved during migratin. Yu will need t re-enter the user name and passwrd n the first lgin after upgrading frm DCFM t Netwrk Advisr. Migrating frm Brcade DCFM t Brcade Netwrk Advisr 19 f 24
